Trying to open a browser window in-game now causes 100% cpu usage and constant stuttering. Fantastic. It also persists through repeatedly restarting the game. I have to go into task manager and shut down these game overlay programs, somehow there are two of which each using over 100k resources.
Apparently it's google's doodle and you need to change the browser home page. I thought it was these stupid shader mods my younger brother installs that can't be controlled through the data files.

I never fast travel. Only in situations where I'd need to get across the whole map, for example from Riften to Solitude. And in those cases I end up doing half-and-half. Say, fast travelling to Whiterun or Rorikstead and walking the rest of the way.
Speaking of locations, has anyone else noticed Skyrim's lack of dense forests? And even when there are collections trees, there's almost always a stone path or trail or other open area within eyesight, anywhere you look. They're pretty weak. I think the Great Forest in Oblivion kind of spoiled me. I loved that place.

The Great Forest was cool. Cyrodiil is more tropical than Skyrim, though, maybe that has something to do with it. |

Fus Ro Dah Cowabunga, bitches! Legendary Dragon defeated! =D Skyrim = 100%, I got all the achievements now. Wooo!!
Level 78 definitely is the magic number. Not even an hour after I leveled to 78 I fought the first Legendary Dragon, coming out from Winterhold's inn after a Thieves Guild quest (hey, had to level up Sneak somehow). I definitely over-prepared, though. I mean, I have perks in blacksmithing and enchanting, I'm a freggin' demi-god. My "Phoenix" Dragonplate armor more than exceeded the armor cap and had enchantments up the wazoo --I had like 80% magic resistance if you count the Mara Blessing, the perks from the Alteration Tree, and the double enchantments in every piece. Add to that my natural 50% Frost resistance because I'm playing a Nord, 46% resistance to Shock and Fire, like 80% boost to One-Handed, boost to archerty, Restoration magic at 0-cost, and so on. His fire breath did almost nothing to me. His bite attack... pfffttt!!! I didn't even need to use healing spells or potions, that Legendary Dragon didn't stand a chance. It was over in a dozen hits once his sorry ass landed. By the time you're level 78 you're so overpowered not even these Legendary Dragons are a challenge. They should've unleashed it at level 60 or something, it probably would've kicked my ass then. Now? "Legendary" my ass. Fucking achievement sucked. It's done, but I feel empty. Meh. At least I'm done with Skryim, until the next expansion that is. Now it's the waiting game for Sleeping Dogs. In the mean time, I think I'll boot up Battlefield 3. |

Gahahahaha...I finally got around to doing Sheogorath's quest. It kind of makes me sad I didn't ever play The Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion. Oh well. Good old Sheogorath, of the various Daedric Princes, he is by far the most entertaining. Now I have the Wabbajack, which makes fun random things happen.

Need some dragon advice. I just started playing the game last week.
Is there a certain level, item, spell or weapon needed to take them down? I have killed the first one required in the main quest line, but I cannot seem to even make a dent in my first random dragon encounter. I'm at level 10. I read some walkthroughs and apparently these are "easily" taken down. Bullshit! You cannot really outrun the fire, it's dangerous to get close for melee, it's hard as hell (me anyway) to shoot them with arrow because they fly so fast, and spells do next to no damage (shock and fire are all I have). Should I just wait until I have better stuff? It's just infuriating to read that something is "easy" and then have it kick your ass. |

Early on, I actually invested points in Stamina just so I could better run away from some difficult enemies(like dragons and bears). There's no shame in running for right now until you're better equipped/spec'd if you are really finding it impossible to take them down. You wont want to do this forever, but I liked that anytime I got attacked by a dragon, it was a rush. If you insist on taking them on, it depends on what sort of character you are. You can take dragons down by multiple means so try and formulate a strategy based around your strengths. Obviously, archery and magic specialists will find it easier due to the long-range attacks, but you can do it melee as well. With archery, get your shots off when the dragon comes to a standstill and make sure to keep in mind the trajectory of the arrow when shooting from a distance. Trying to hit it when its moving is a lost cause and waste of arrows for the most part. Until you're better at this, you'll probably get a good amount of dragon breath in your face, so make sure you're stocked with healing supplies. Find cover where possible but dont let yourself get in a situation where you cant get away easily. Poisons and Fortify Archery can be bought or made and are very useful(especially Lingering Damage Health poisons which will continue to do damage even during the times you cant hit it cuz its flying around) although they wont be very strong at first, but its better than nothing. Melee, you basically just gotta get up-close and personal. You'll need the best armor you can get and a good stock of healing items/magic cuz you WILL get hit. Here again, poisons and Fortify potions are useful to maximize damage when you do get the opportunity to attack. One useful tactic is to lead the dragon to a populated area where town guards will join the battle. They wont do much damage, but it'll at least distract the dragon from focusing all of its attacks on you alone. You can also sometimes get giants and mammoths into the fight, which WILL do some proper damage to the dragon, but feels like a bit of a cheap tactic(staying alive is staying alive, though). Good luck and enjoy dragons being difficult and scary while you can. :) |

I'm exploring the mountains near the Morrowind border when, all of a sudden, a Blood Dragon swoops in and starts attacking me. Dutifully, I bump the difficulty up to Master, and go to town on the beast. My supply of healing potions is running low, but thankfully, there's plenty of other targets around for the dragon to focus on.
One of those targets is an Orc stronghold: Narzulbur. I'd found it a while back, and had not yet been permitted entry, but I had found another way in I'd refrained from using. But, with this Master-level dragon now feasting on their green asses, I figured they wouldn't mind if I jumped into the fray to save them. I join the orcs in their struggle, and for a moment, we fight together. As soon as I deliver the finishing strike to the blood dragon, though, they turn around and demand that I leave. Are these people dense? Don't they know who I am? I'm the goddamn Dovahkiin. |

So i know we have a modding thread but figured id be better asking in here.
Iv just started a new character (Custom Race) and i think iv done everything with skyrim you can do with a single build so im looking to make this guy the most badass Dovahkiin in town. Any mods out that let me keep gaining perks after i reach the "soft cap" and any mods that allow me to be both a vampire lord and a werewolf. |

Hey
Out of curiosity, Since the beginning of the game i have this quest to release this guy from Thalmor custody. I wanted to do it diplomatically. I have tried every possible way. I joined the Imperials and betrayed my Nord blood just for that ! I killed the Nord king and didnt even get a thank you from these imperial bitches. so here i am, level 24 with my badass heavy armor rating of 320. I go to Northwatch keep, i drink a few speechcraft potions (btw, never had an issue with my speech when speaking to people, game is totally broken) and i talk to the guy: as usual, he doesnt want to hear anything but now i decide to kill them all because i've had enough: very easy now. I go to the keep and i die just before arriving to my prisoner but whatever i check some faqs to see what was the good way to do it (i have asked about 20 times my imperial commander if they could talk to these thalmor guys, even after i killed the Nord kind they didnt accept!!!!!) and it seems the only way is to kill them all!!!! WTF is that? please tell me i could have done otherwise |

Wiping out Thalmor is a good thing, the only shitty part is that your guy immediately runs off to join the Stormcloaks afterwards. |

Because the Thalmor are EVIL, remember? EEEVVIIILLLLL.
Just wait until the College of Winterhold storyline, where everyone is suspicious of the Thalmor sent to act as an "adviser." He then defies everyone's expectations by... trying to harness the power of a mysterious magical artifact for his own gain, rambling about how POWERFUL he is, and then getting killed by the Dragonborn. I hope something comes of the Thalmor, at least in DLC. I'm tired of having these unambiguously evil green elf dudes in spiky black robes wander around talking about how superior they are while everyone whines about how they outlawed Talos worship. Just even further reinforces one of the major problems with Skyrim, that you can't really do anything to affect the world. Even if you defeated the dragons, so what? The Empire still got its ass kicked and is basically a puppet state for these punks. |

You can unbalance the game a lot in your favor by exploiting Enchanting and Smithing if you aren't going to be a mage. Which you shouldn't really be your first playthrough, TES has always been horribly balanced for mages (even worse than for melees, I know right) and it really helps to have a mod which re-balances magecraft. I guess it's better than how Oblivion handled leveling, where you could become the Champion of the Arena at level 4.

A while back, I was pretty sure the upcoming new Great War would be the setting for the Elder Scrolls Online, but I was wrong. |

Still kicking ass with my Breton Spellsword. I keep avoiding the main quest, but I've started to conquer Skyrim for the Nords. I just wish I could be more Paragon of Righteousness, but how I can't destroy the Thieves guild and how the Stormcloaks are a bunch of racist xenophobes doesn't help things. Kinda just wish it could be more black and white DESTROY THE THALMOR AND KICK OUT THE EMPIRE FOR THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF SKYRIM sort of deal. Hell, I even named my character Joan de Arc for this reason exactly! It WAS nice to be all "DESTROY THE ABOMINABLE VAMPIRE MONSTERS" for once. |

Well, I'll still take the racist Nords over the beta Empire which is still basically a puppet state for the Thalmor. I mean, the Nords can still be made to accept other races, it's the Thalmor that are the real threat, and I'd much rather not hand Skyrim over to those assholes.

What empire? They've already lost like half of the continent's landmass. Actually I think that the Stormcloaks would have a better shot of getting an alliance with the Redguards than the Empire could. And with 2 of Tamriel's greatest warrior races fighting the elves on one front, the Empire could take advantage on another. That is if those milk drinkers can stop kowtowing to the elves long enough to muster a decent fight. Even if Skyrim was part of the Empire, it's far from a united Tamriel.

So, I'm on Diplomatic Immunity. Delphine tells me to travel to Solitude and speak to Malborn, she'll meet me outside the city gates later. I do as she asks. I give Malborn my Dawnbreaker and my 400 arrows. Can't be too careful with those Thalmor. Since Delphine's waiting for me only a short walk from the city gates, I figure I don't need a backup weapon. As night falls, I head out to Katla's farm, toward the carriage waiting for me. I equip a light spell to find Delphine...
And suddenly I'm set upon by three bloodthirsty Death Hounds. Now, I'm no spellcaster, so I just do the only thing I can: I start pouncing on them with my bare hands. Delphine, the townsfolk and I manage to take them down. But then I get gutted by a Master Vampire. Reload. This time, I wait until noon before setting out again, to avoid any nasty vampire attacks. I casually stroll down to the farm, strike up a chat with Ma'dran the caravaneer, find Delphine and talk to her. Right in the midst of her explanation, I hear a familiar, eerie roar echoing across the mountains. Before I know what's happening, a Blood Dragon's soaring through the air, unleashing bolts of ice at us. And I still don't have any goddamn weapons. I run for cover, flinging some spells at the beast while I'm running. It just shrugs them off while it's chomping on Haafingar guards. Luckily, Delphine's a good marksman, so she's slowly wittling down it's health while I'm scrambling through the barn, looking for a weapon. The only thing I find is a woodcutter's axe. I pick it up, charge towards the beast, and start hacking away. I smack it in the face with my axe, again and again and again. Ultimately, I bury the axe in it's maw one final time. The thing screeches and dies. I throw my axe to the ground. I look at Delphine, she looks at me. We're both thinking the same thing. I'm the goddamn Dovahkiin. |

So i just found a work around for this.
Basically. Complete the Companion Quest line so you legitimately gain Lycanthropy then do the Dawnguard stuff till you become a Vampire Lord. Once you're a Vampire Lord open the console and type Code:
player.addspell 00092C48 (Adds Beast Mode Spell) player.addspell 000A1A3E (adds beast powers and resistances) (optional) For XBox and PS3 players youtube has alot of videos with a glitch on getting both powers. |

And enemies that legitimately have Unrelenting Force rather than the lame Draugr version are a real pain. Hate getting launched across the room in this stupid forced third person where you can't even see your health without pausing. |

I have no idea how people play to level 80. I feel like I'm running out of good stuff to do by level 50 on each character. The major questlines only take about a day to do, and now I just wander around filling up petty and common souls so I can level enchantment yet again and not be killed instantly by magic users. I guess I can go become a Thane of every city, but after that it would just be more wandering.
