After looking at reviews, I figured this movie would be a D+ or C- but my girlfriend wanted to see it so I went with her.
Surprisingly, I'd say it was better than expected. Probably a B- though. I really disliked the whole "Fairy Forest" part. It felt almost shoe-horned in and out of place considering how dark the movie felt beforehand. The part was over really fast so it wasn't so bad, but I feel like it could have been cut entirely. Didn't mind the dwarves though, especially since Ian McShane was one of them! I liked the Dark Forest, and how it was driven mostly by hallucinations. Didn't like the troll though. I think in general the CG bothered me when it came to creatures, especially animals but also the troll, fairies, etc. To me the tone of this movie made it so these things weren't necessary, and yet there they were. Meh. I guess I was just content with the idea of "realistic Snow White plus some dark magic" and I got more than that. I wasn't mystified by Theron's acting but I also wasn't bothered by Stewart's. The acting was pretty balanced overall, I'd say. So yeah, an inoffensive movie for sure. Some things really bugged me but I wouldn't give a horrible review because of them.

I enjoyed this movie as a whole. It felt suitably epic and I liked how certain aspects of the story were woven together. Charlize Theron dropped the ball a fell times with her acting, but otherwise it was a solid film. The only thing that seemed truly out of place was the Lord's prayer. It was almost distracting to think that this film seemingly took place inside of a "Christian universe".

Saw this over the weekend instead of Promethius, but I'm in the 3/5 camp, too.
I know it was initially inspired by it, but the film stole so much imagery from LotR and other films that, by the end, really annoyed me at how much they were shamelessly ripping off. There were Peter Jackon-esque sweeping helicopter shots through the (same?) valleys, an obvious "Fellowship" scene as the extended party (Snow, Hunstman and the dwarves) traversed through the overworld, the whole "Helms Deep" feeling leading up to the final battle... I nearly lol'd at the Neverending Story moment in the Dark Forest, it was so blatant. Overall the first 60 minutes or so were amazing, but it petered out fast by the end. |

Saw this today and I liked it!!
Charilize acting was so over the top lol. I'd say the whole dwarves and William parts could've been cut out. I loved the fairy forest, but the scenes after dragged on too long. And the whole apple scene was a bit too sudden. How stupid is Snow White to fall for that? William was asleep during the whole time. Didn't she left him sleeping when she ventured on alone? Wasn't it a bit strange to see him again in the forest, awake and all??? But overal I like it. It had some great special effects. |

Holy crap. THis might have been the worst movie i've watched all year!! Wow. Director/Editor should never find a job EVER in hollywood, EVER!
EDIT: And is her sniffing/crying the only piece of acting she knows. It's like someone forgot to tell her she was not on the twilight set. Horrible. They should have cut everything apart from Theron from the movie....thou her scenes were also spoilt for some headscratching what the heck is that scene for parts.

Just came back from this as it just opened in Aus.
I really enjoyed it. Sure the script could have been tighter in terms of building up certain moments so they would pay off better. And perhaps the Queen's dialogue could have been the slightest bit more subtle in the scenes that weren't the climax of the film, but overall I thought they did a great job with the story. The visuals were fucking ace. Sanders shot the shit out of this film. I also absolutely dug the score and only found out when the credits came up that it was JNH - figures. Motherfucker hasn't put out a good score in a few years, but I really loved this. I have no idea what they're going to do with the sequel, except that it will be another Koepp piece of shit. Really dug the film. 7.5/10 |

The religious undercurrent to the film was unexpected.
A messianic character who heals the sick, walks on water and gets raised from the dead 0_o I just don't really get why. Presumably someone thought 'wouldn't it be cool if Snow White was Jesus?' or something. |

Saw it last night, enjoyed it overall although i felt the pacing was a little off. Some scenes dragged on and others felt rushed, as if they were shoehorned in. but yeah, It was like Kristin Stewart forgot she wasnt doing a Twilight film, so one-dimentional.

I’ve seen this movie twice now - and I think I now know what its biggest flaw is...it's not the length.
The movie simply has little to no heart in it. It really desperately needed some likable characters... ![]() Agreed.

Nice special effects, but I found the movie so boring I probably would have walked out if it wasn't to keep to my wife happy.
I could see what the movie was trying to be, but it just wasn't. I felt like there was very little dialog and what was there wasn't moving, witty, authentic, or interesting. The characters lacked any depth. Queens brother was Saturday morning cartoon villainy. The dwarf dieing was supposed to be a big deal, but the viewer hardly knew them and couldn't possibly have an emotional attachment to him. We saw him for about 5 minutes and 4 of those were spent contemplating our hero and heroine's murder. Reminded me a lot of the new clash of the titans for some reason. Lots of money and wanted to spin an amazing tale, but horrible character development, writing, and execution. Just a bad movie, IMO. |

I agree for the most part....but I thought when the Huntsman was talking to Snow White as she was dead/sleeping was pretty moving and definitely well done. It's one of the better scenes in the movie...

I never did post in here, but I saw the movie a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.
Most notably, I loved the sets, props, and other effects. The scene with the faerie grotto and the stag were awesome. Likewise, the weapons, armor, and clothing were great. I was surprised at how "epic" they made the movie. The numerous sweeping panoramic views really let you know they were on a true journey and not just a romp through the land. |

Just got back from seeing this (Well a few hours ago) I liked it through and through, but Kristen Stewart...can't act her way out of a test.
Charlize...the things I would do to her! It would have been a better movie if Snow White was born and she was this evil little girl, who kills her mother so that she can be the fairest in the land and puts her father in the cellar and rules the kingdom. And Charlize's character comes along and is the true fairest one and does the saving. Now that would have been awesome |

I'm glad to see there are people in here who hated this huge studio fart.

Still haven't seen this. The whole "epic" vibe in the trailers turns me off since I don't feel it works for such a story - yet it has a great cast. :/
Some of my friends have said it is quite boring. But then I know they are easily turned off by slow pacing and prefer rampant action, so go figure. |

Just got back from seeing this. I liked some parts of it, but found most everything else to be lacking. I like how hey gave the Queen a reason for wanting to kill Snow White other than vanity, and the Dark Army was an interesting concept that should of been expanded on more. But overall it just felt generic in almost every single way.

Forgot to post about this movie since I was on timeout when I saw it. It was great.
There definitely was room for improvement in the script; some things happened purely by convenience (look, a horse!), character development was mostly barren, and the climax fell a bit flat. While the movie had potential to go above and beyond, it was nevertheless thoroughly entertaining and an utter visual feast. I can even forgive utterly indulgent and unnecessary shots (Charlize in a pool of milk, what?) since they were so pretty. *.* |

Just saw this. Pretty meh about it to be honest. I liked Theron and Hemsworth's performance but I thought the story itself was pretty dry. It doesn't help there isn't an ounce of likeability in Stewart's Snow White. There's also lack of chemistry between her and the 2 leading men.
Hemsworth actually surprised me during the grieving scene. He certainly has the talent but it's kind of wasted on this film. I also don't know why some critics hate Theron's performance. I thought she played the Queen like the nutter that she really is. Special effect was pretty good but I don't like the battle scenes. I feel that they are out of place and don't serve the film well. OTOH, I love the part of the film that takes place in the forest since it reminds me a bit of "Princess Mononoke". The fairy creatures look stupid though. |
