Creatine helps you lift heavier weight by promoting water retention in muscles and giving you a larger pump as well as promoting protein synthesis. So when you're done, you go off the creatine and your lifts go down, but overall they have gone up more than they might've without it. Is that correct?

I think of creatine as an invisible spotter. It's there to help me get up those reps I couldn't have done without it (plus every other benefit it gives). The main point is it has no downside or side effects whatsoever unless water weight is your ultimate enemy in life.

Anyways, protein powder is just a way for you to get protein to your muscles as fast a possible. As well as to help you keep your protein levels high. Once you get big enough it would be nigh impossible to eat your recommended daily amount of protein without them. You'd be eating meat, poultry, and fish all day long.

There has been no evidence to suggest portein powders are bad for you, and tons of evidence that suggest they do exactly what they promise to do which is to supplement your body with protein and increase recovery time and help you gain weight.
Going all natural is the best way, but it's hard!

I eat pretty damn clean, but I have my pleasure of eating Kashi salsa pita crisps dipped in Atheeno garlic and herb cheese with feta. Other than that, it's oatmeal with pecans, banana, wheat germ, and raisins for breakfast. A homemade banana, strawberry, blueberry, flaxseed, almond butter shake, chicken breast and Fage honey greek yogurt for lunch, and for late snack a cinamon raisen muffin with almond butter. Dinner can be anything.

How do you guys feel about drinking? I generally try to drink as little as possible and when I do drink I go with something light like a glass of red wine, or whiskey on the rocks.

I know a couple glasses a week won't hurt (actually good for your heart), but curious at what point it becomes a detriment.

Anyone drink pretty heavily and still see good results?

I'm never been a big drinker, but I do like to have a few drinks on weekends.

Hey everybody, Just dropping in to say I just benched my body weight for the first time on Friday. 3 weeks ago I was 180 and benched 175, Friday I was 173 and benched 185. ONE EIGHTY FIVE!

I know there's a seperate thread for it, but what do you guys think of p90x? I wish I could just get the workout schedule without having to pay for the whole thing... I'd rather just do the workouts on my own in the gym instead of along with the DVD in my living room.

I'm going back to uni in September to do another undergrad degree. Already been through that lifestyle once and am not particularly interested in doing it all over again, though of course i'll go out for the odd night out.

If the other students think that I am weird or antisocial because of this then so be it. Fitness and health has become far too important in my life to ruin it by regularly binge drinking.

Is there an easy page somewhere on the internet I can pullup on my phone for the 5/3/1 program? It's been a long time since I've had to calculate things and such, as fitocracy has met my needs while doing SS, so I'm trying to be certain I have all the info I need.

Just looking for the easiest possible way to track and calculate this.

If you get the book it has a template on what percentage goes with each training max. The book is definitely worth getting.

Alternatively, http://blackironbeast.com/5/3/1/calculator

I have the ebook on my kindle actually, I'm just trying to find something that can go to the gym with me on my phone, or even a spreadsheet or something at home to make tracking the 5/3/1 boring but big challenge. That's the next 3 months of my life at least, so if there isn't something, guess I'll try to create it!

That and trying to overanalyze how much to eat so I can make those gains without becoming a fatass.

So BMR calculators have me at a BMR of 1850-1900, which seems at least close. MYFitnessPal has my maintenance at like 2250ish without counting my activities. I'm starting 5/3/1 with Boring But Big, and trying to figure out how much I need to be eating on such a program, as while doing SS I 100% overdid it on my bulk, cramming way too many calories down my throat and gaining way too much fat that I've spent 5 months cutting. Advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I should just eat the same amount on days I work and days I don't (bartender), go higher when I work, nor how high I need to make sure I go on such a program. 2600 net a day is where I'm sitting as of right now, with more to make up for lifting/cardio.

You don't, they're there forever. Rubbing all that cream nonsense can help with making them fade faster (they eventually get lighter), but they'll never go away.

I get stretch marks on my bi's mainly.

So my legs have gone crazy skinny having not been able to work them for a month and a half, i need to ease them back into gymming.

I was doing SS and making steady progression, have only been back 2 weeks and working back/bi and chest/tri.

Can anyone recommend a good 3-4 day program for working everything bar legs? Obvs i'm keen as butter to get back into legs, however i can't squat for another ~3 weeks.

Need your help, guys

Is there a significant difference between Syntha 6 and ON Whey? I am thinking about switching from Syntha 6 to Whey, and just for the purpose of taking once or twice throughout the day as I will be having 14 hour days a couple of times per week. The goal isn't anything too specific but just to keep myself situated with protein throughout the day and have enough energy to workout when I finally get home at time

Thanks

Syntha 6 is a protein blend which offers some protein types that digest slower, On whey is made up of whey concentrate/isolates which digest faster, I'd say stick with syntha 6 if it fits within your calories (syntha 6 higher in calories, carbs, etc). Plus syntha 6 has a much superior taste than any of ONs flavor offerings

I'd get whichever is cheaper. Syntha-6 does taste pretty good but it has more carbs and fat. I think ON is better overall, especially if you're on a cut and just need protein. I really like the coffee version, solid but not spectacular.

I am not looking to do anything. Long story short - I have been doing P90X, followed the diet, lost weight, and turned out I was losing too much weight (bones showing when I flexed). So I threw out the diet plan, stopped counting calories, and just focused on eating healthy and making sure I am energetic going into a workout
