![]() When you're 12-years old, you think Fight Club is the smartest, coolest, more rebellious fuckin' thing in the world. Then you grow up and see for the tone-deaf, thematically-confused, nihilistic adolescent masturbatory fantasy it is and shake your head that your ever thought it was great. |

I grew up in the 80s, and thought these things were cool:
The Hardy Boys. Mascots with sunglasses and attitude. Ruud Gullit. Michael Jackson's hair. Carrying around a wet bottle of Coca-Cola or Sprite. Mountainbikes with bullhorn handlebars. The Great Wall of China. Star Wars. This toy that was like a mechanical dinosaur. I never got it. Foreign coins. Everything Nintendo. Still cool! Cowboys playing guitars. Cowboys staring into the distance. Japanese martial arts like karate and judo. And of course ninjas. |

I'll wear carpenter jeans and/or carpenter style shorts at work because they serve a utilitarian function for me. If they aren't too dirty for me I'll wear them on a trip to the grocery store or something as well. They aren't as baggy as in your picture though. I never knew they were once a thing. :O

I used to be fascinated by automated car washes. Every time we drove passed one I'd ask to stop in it, and would get mad when we didn't. I would make note of everyone I've never been through before, and I would watch every car all the way through. I would memorize the sequence of the smaller ones that move around the cars (like the ones at the gas stations) and go home and imitate the brushes with the mop against... Everything...
I owned every toy car wash set I could find, built several models even going as far as to lie to my mother ("it's for a school project!") so she'd buy me some materials, and probably hundreds of drawings. When washing cars as part of chores I would pretend I was the car wash system. Dunno when I grew out of it... I guess around the time I became fixated on roller coasters... Though I still tend to get a little excited every time I drive through one.

I NEVER thought they were cool, but some people did (and still do). It blows my mind..
ICP. I Thought rapping "evil" clowns were lame as hell when I was 12. I was blown away when I found out a few years ago (I'm 29 now) that they were still a thing and actually had a fanbase.. many of which are adults.. terrible, terrible adults. |

Did you willingly listen to this shitty music thinking "boy does this suck, and I fully acknowledge there are far superior metal bands out here, but fuck it, I'm going to soil my ears with this derivative tripe because it's goddamned cool as fuck"?

Baggy clothes just because. I thought they looked cool but in retrospective I realised I wore them to hide the fact that I was fat. I still wear them now but not ridiculously baggy like when I was 19 and just from time to time instead of being my everyday outfit. I'm much thinner than back then so properly "hip-fitted" baggy pants now look great instead of looking like a potato sack.
