I wish. Imagine taking down a colossi with a Razor's Edge.

I know this is an old game and all, but the thread title is kinda in-your-face.

I played this when it first came out and never touched it again after I beat it. Not because I didn't like it, it's one of my favorite games, just because even after all these years I still remember all of the colossi in detail, I wish I could forget and replay it one day. It just wouldn't be the same without the the 'wow factor' of playing it for the first time. I bought the HD collection too, but I'll probably never play that either..

Goddamn son!
The game kind of drags for the first few opponents. But from which ever number the first Bird Colossus it really starts to pick up. I just defeated #14 which is probably the best one in the game so far. The last 3 Colossus I've played The bull in the huge ruins, the flying snake and the giant in the lake, along with the lizard in the coliseum have all been great. Last two should be insane. |

I don't know, I never really felt bad for killing any of the colossi. It's not like I had any other choice, other than to not progress through the game.
The only time I felt kind of bad was at the end, but even then it was more of a "Oh, god. What did I just do?" feeling. |

Great game, but I'm confused why this trait of the game is praised? It made me want to play the game less. I didn't feel manipulated, I felt I was pointlessly killing. The lack of background story didn't help.
I respect that it draws an emotional response though. |

Can i still buy this still on psn? I had a look for it with no luck
Edit: Ok I found it, could have sworn I searched for ICO and Shadow and rifled through the game list 2 weeks ago and couldn't see it.

Second to last boss was great.
Final colossus was a bit of a drag. It went more for spectacle than fun. I liked the ending. Brought home the desperation. Took a few months with a big gap between but I'm glad I finished it. And it's easy to forget just what kind of juice the PS2 had. |

I once said this to my brother and he thought I was joking. I'm a big fan of games like GTA, but accidentally running over thousands of civilians never bothered me as much as actively going out of your way to kill a beautiful colossus that's just minding its own fucking business.
I loved SotC, but I definitely felt for the monsters in a weird way. |

For whatever reason, I found the last two colossi to be the most difficult and time consuming of them all. But yeah, excellent game though. |

As a metaphor, the game is brilliant. |

When I played this game I never got the sense that I was a villain at all. You're a man on a mission in a cursed land. Sure there's a price to pay, but it's for LOVE.
The evil god gets what he wants by taking your body, so the Colossi should be happy since you're reuniting their power. So in the end you're not a bad guy, you're a putz. |

Just recently replayed this again and (spoiler!!)this scene (spoiler!!) ... god. The way they channeled and used emotion in every aspect of this game from the grand arching themes down to details of the character models themselves is in a league of it's very own.

I gotta say, I finished SotC this last weekend and man wasn't it hard to kill all those Colossi? I felt really bad every time I stabbed them as if I was doing something wrong to a harmless(?) being that was just there without knowing what to do or their purpose and yeah the music didn't help at all :(
SPOILER EDIT: The last part when you're going through that bridge to reach the 16th Colossus and then Agro is sacrificed Mario style... man I felt really bad but that was not all... seeing Agro come back and alive standing in 3 feet because she was hurt, that made me cry a little :(

Even the more dickish ones I could forgive. I mean, fight for your life and to protect the seal the Ancients tasked you with guarding but Malus is perhaps one of my favorite bosses because he got a great reaction out of me. Bastard killed my horse! After that I was hell-bent. I didn't care about Mono anymore. I didn't care about Dormin, or the mission, or the warnings or the consequences. I killed Malus for one reason, and one alone. And I did NOT feel shame when I plunged the sword into his skull again and again and again.
All I felt was sadness. Not for the Colossus, not for Wander and Mono, but for Aggro. Aggro is the best horse in video games. Epona can be more famous, but she NEVER does for Link what Aggro did for Wander. The only friend you have in this entire game, the only person who is nice to you, and the only thing larger than a lizard that isn't trying to kill you, and Malus takes that from you. That bastard deserved every last wound I gave him. |

Better than stupid Epona, who can't be bothered to cross that goddamn bridge before the bridge in Gerudo Valley, or jump over stuff despite that being her big schtick because OH NO I CAME AT IT AT THE WRONG ANGLE. All that PLUS the fact that if you're the kind of doofus who can't climb on his horse and keeps jumping you're likely to be the same kind of doofus who rolls into his horse rather than climb it.
