I want to play the Ace Attorney games, but on which platform? #1

So I've been wanting to play the Ace Attorney games for a while now (under the lame pretext that they somehow might help me study for the LSAT), but I haven't been able to decide which platform to get them for... I don't speak Japanese, so GBA isn't an option. That leaves the DS, WiiWare, and iOS. I'm leaning towards DS because it feels like the DS is supposed to be the definitive platform for them, but on the other hand, the DS versions are really hard to find and expensive due to their rarity. I could just download them on WiiWare, but that would involve shuffling around stuff on my SD card. I could also try the iOS App Store, but I generally only download free stuff from the App Store... So, Ace Attorney GAF, which version would you guys say I should go for?

first of all, it won't help you study at all. :)

second of all, DS. portable, better input, all the games are on DS, etc.

They are making and Hd collection for iOS with all 3 games

I'm pretty sure it'll be cheap and be less than the amount for 3 DS games. But im pretty sure that they would be cheap now.

I played the first Phoenix Wright game on iOS and as far as I know it's the complete game on there and it worked well (I saw no problems). I bought the third for £10 from Tesco a while ago but at the time I thought it was the second so I am still yet to play it.

Personally I would prefer to play them on DS over Wiiware. But that's just me preferring it to be played on handhelds rather than a tv.

DS, and you'll find them very fun and easy.

Wii is terribad, it stretches them, makes them look ugly.

They're all pretty alright.

I think it's better portable so I'd avoid the Wii one just on that basis. DS or iOS is fine.

Don't be so sure. They are somewhat hard to find. Not rare, mind you, but not cheap either.

DS, it's the definitive platform for them. I'd avoid the iOS ports like the plague personally, it's not suited for games.

To people saying to get it for DS, anyone know of places that have good deals/bargains for that version?

The iOS one is only the first entry, and I think playing all of them on one console would be good as opposed to playing the first one on iOS, 2nd on DS, 3rd on Wii, ect.

But the iOS version of PW is okay, but I've heard that the final case (Originally created for the DS) plays terribly on the iPhone.

My suggestion is to play them all on the DS. The interface is top notch, you get great sound quality, and the stylus makes flipping through the court record seamless. I think your best bet is to try and hunt down a copy for DS. but here's how I would rank them in order of quality:

1) DS Version
2) iOS Version
3) Wii Ware Version

Since these are the only options for someone who only speaks English, they are the only ones I'll rank. (Also, I've never played the GBA versions) Hope that helps. They are great games. And if you end up liking them, let me be the first to recommend 999 for the DS as well. . :D

Depends which country you're in. I can recommend places in the UK.

The DS version of the first Phoenix Wright game shouldn't be to hard to find. It got a reprint a little over a year ago, and new copies can be found on Amazon for around $20. I'd avoid the Wii version of the first game simply because they cut out the game's bonus case and made it paid DLC. That and well, the games are much better suited for portable.

You might have to settle for the WiiWare version of the second game (Justice For All) though, unless you want to pay somewhere around $40-70 for a copy. It seems to be the hardest Ace Attorney game to track down a reasonably priced physical copy of. The other three games (Trials & Tribulations, Apollo Justice and Ace Attorney Investigations) aren't too hard to find for reasonable prices online.

Edit: Actually, I think the Japanese DS version of Ace Attorney 2 has an option to play in english. There's always that route in regards to playing Justice For All.

DS for whatever game you can find. Mostly so you can play it on your bed at night like if you were reading a book or something.

I have the 1st one on iOS and compared to the DS I've noticed a lot of slowdown when operating the menus. For the record I'm playing on an iPhone 4.

DS or iOS, either is fine, but on iOS I think only the first one is available, so if you want to have them all on the same platform, it'd have to be on DS.
