o.o Maybe that's why I don't mind that one compared to the other ones. The Windows 8 logo bothers me but the paint one doesn't and I think it's the angle of the logo window thing.

But it looks like it simulates paint and painting tools, giving you multiple brushes and marking tools that are immediately accessible in your palette, as well as a paint mixer. All that at the cost of a large chunk of your screen space dedicated to your palette and tools. If those can slide out of the way easily, and this thing supports layers, then it might actually be an incredibly useful art tool. |

nope, you get the normal paint in windows 8, or at least the version currently available for developers, tech-reviewers etc. it might get replaced by this in the consumer version but i doubt it, as i assume there's nothing changed between now & october.

I've used paint more than photoshop in my thesis. So much easier and faster when you just want do to simple stuff.

It's all about Brilliance! I still spent more time with DPaint though.
EDIT: Does anyone remember that one 90's shareware DOS paint program that had a picture of a marble panther on a marble next to marble columns. I loved that so hard :(

"The interface looks great, if paint mixing and textures like that are possible I'd love to play with this!"
Just took it for a spin, you can mix paint in the top right (where you see the color palette with the big canvas space above them). The texture comes from them simulating canvas/paper and they have a dozen different canvas/paper textures. |

Anyone know if Fractal Design Painter is still around? Last I heard, they were bought by Corel? Hell... is Corel still around? I haven't done graphic design in over 9 years :( But I remember loving they're vector controls over anything Illustraitor could do.
I revisited one of their products called Corel Designer(???) about 5 years ago for a vector schematic I had to put together for work and it was still good. |

1) Bunch of brushes in the top centre which are clearly used to select brush type. 2) Paint wheel in the top right which is clearly used to select brush colour. 3) Basic application buttons in the bottom row and top right. How can you not instinctively know what every single part of that interface does? |
