most media players will only use the phone's built in libraries to decode music files, so i the phone doesn't support WMA by default, many 3rd party media players won't. try Poweramp.

There seems to be no rush from Google to make their major services (Voice, music etc) available outside the US.

The Nexus 7 is great but again, so bloody frustrating. Lack of TV shows, no real decent and simple streaming solution ala Apple TV. I really don't want to go back to Apples ecosystem as I like Androids freedom but I am concerned that Google aren't giving dates on these items because they are an age away.

Yes, and no.

You can set up a SIP (Voice over IP) and have it channelled though the tablet. The easier alternative is to have Voice installed and when you want to make a call it will just ring your cell/home phone and you continue the call from there.

There's a couple of people here that are more fluent with SIP/VOIP setups.

They wouldnt like it if all you had to do was buy a phone, then use GV on it for infinite minutes everywhere. Nor if you could take a phone with no service and make and receive calls anywhere WiFi was available bypassing phone carriers altogether.

I reckon Google wont ever directly step over that line and onto the carriers toes. So we will just have to use the Apps that bridge that gap in the meantime.

I've kinda stopped buying music for that reason - I pay for streaming stuff instead like MOG which doesn't count toward my data and you can store songs locally, so it's basically replaced my music library. If I ever do want a paid track, can usually find it at 7Digital for about the same price as iTunes. I'll agree though, Google's support outside the US fucking sucks. No idea what they're doing or if they're even interested in competing internationally (despite selling their hardware everywhere).

nobody ever gives dates on those kinds of things, at least not until the date is really close. why? well, because the main obstacle is local rights negotiation with whoever has the rights for all those things in the country. the infrastructure is already in place and it's just about legal negotiations and can they make a profit on the current terms being offered, etc... you'll never get a date until all the deals are signed, which means it's almost time for launch.

if you want "right now", then go with Apple. get your new iPhone, iPad 7" and Apple TV later this month.

Try Music Unlimited from Sony. It has a very, very wide track selection. The app is available through Play and I think they give 60 days of premium for free for new subscribers. It also launched in Australia late last year.

Apple’s current iPhone has a screen of 3.5 inches. Kantar also found that Android’s market share in Europe has gone up by 20.2% in the past year; its devices now account for two-thirds of the smartphone market in Europe. In fact, as you can see in the table below, Android grew its share by double-digit percentages in just about every major market, except for the U.S., where it actually declined by 4.5% as iOS increased by nearly 9% over the same period a year ago. Still, the U.S. appears to be an outlier at the moment (if not marching to the beat of a different drum altogether). Overall, there is not a single market among those surveyed by Kantar where Android does not have over 50% of all smartphone handset sales and is still growing stronger than the rest. From what I read about that Apple uses a non standard implementation when sending texts. And Android only uses standards. That's why we have apps that are written to accommodate non standard Apple usage, but not integrated officially in stock Android.

That's the way I understood it, it may be wrong, and if so I would like to understand it better.

Apparently Google TV doesn't support NDK. That means XBMC is out of the question. Games that rely on the NDK aren't going to work. Explains why n64oid doesn't work. So shitty.

In order to pull that off there was a technical need to not use Bionic (tool chain compatibility). This means we currently cannot support NDK. We are actively working on this and understand the frustration you feel on the matter. I'm loving and hating the CoStar at the same time. The bluetooth remote is a bit unreliable. The thing is laggy to hell on some screens, and smooth as butter on others. Like I told gcube, I'm being super optimistic about it getting an ICS/JB update rectifying all this.
