The only time they really put any effort in is when they host it.

I had such a painless experience with travel in London that I could conceive of going down just for a morning session if they sneaked-out some more tickets this coming week.
I'd probably be cutting it a bit fine, but I'm not above sprinting across the Olympic Park to get there in time. |

I've realised that looking at the medals table and that does really reflect quite poorly on the US, with all its resources. Why not put in more of an effort? Do disabled athletes get any support there? My only impression has been from Jason Street from Friday Night Lights.

C4 coverage is a mixed bag. Even the dedicated channels seem obsessed with the big three - athletics, Swimming and cycling. Couldn't see any rowing or archery at all.
Their afternoon show at the weekend was terrible. A couple of really bad presenters more interested in playing with their ipads than listening to the guests. Luckily its rescued by their amazing evening coverage. Claire Balding and Ade are fantastic, they're relaxed, have a good rapport, and Ewan Thomas is interesting to listen to. And The Last Leg is fantastic. Adam Hills isn't a natural presenter, but the overall program just works really well. |

Those sports literally aren't filmed as far as I know. They showed rowing finals but it was only 1 camera at the finish line.

I haven't had a chance to watch much but I was there yesterday for swimming, cycling and athletics and it was utterly fantastic. The general atmosphere of the park seemed just as excited as the Olympics and it looked just as packed if not moreso.
Highlights of the day: GB coming back in the final leg of the swimming 4 x 100m relay heat to win, Team GB v China Mixed Sprint Finals (although Team GB lost!) and Weir taking Gold at the end of the day. The place just exploded. http://imgur.com/mrIIK.jpg http://imgur.com/tFu1V.jpg

The Olympic host broadcaster has much less money for the Paras so it doesn't match the resources of the Olympics. I think C4 spend £9m on rights, which is the bulk of the £19m paid in rights worldwide. |

Pistorius apologized for his complaints. He accepted that Oliviera's blades are within IPC rules, but has an issue with the rules.
It must be difficult, figuring out the rules of the Paralympics. Technology is constantly improving, but you have to draw a line somewhere so that people don't get an unfair advantage. Oliviera's blades do seem longer than Pistorius's, which give him a longer stride. Maybe it should be up to athletes/trainers/engineers to find the optimal blade length. |

Didn't they look at the footage and see that Pistorius actually made longer strides than Oliveira?

Pistorius really only has himself to blame for falling short in the finals. He ran 21.30 (world record) in an earlier heat, and 21.52 in the finals. |

Probably partially due to the fact that America doesn't give the slightest shit about them. No coverage on TV, and languishing somewhere in the top 10 medals wise - there's absolutely no reason they shouldn't be in the top 2. Still, no crying eagle image dumps, so that's something.

Everyone knew to watch Bolt and Phelps, but the Paralympics are a bit broader. Things seem to be getting better, but i don't know if the global audience is quite as invested in Simmonds and Storey. |

Was at the velodrome last week and atmosphere was just as good as I expected. Same with all the events even when not full though. |
