I give them such little credit in general (see my general "I can't believe I'm enjoying this" response to this season) that I'll give the showrunners total credit for killing off Russell in a way that made some semblance of sense within the world of the show, as opposed to having some high-drama fight.
They've already established that unless there's some sort of major impediment Russell would carve through pretty much any of the characters we know. |

God this show is awful. I thought it was gonna be good this season after getting worse and worse every season after the first, but nope. It's shit. At least this season wasn't as bad as season 4, which isn't really saying much. I think when Lafayette turned into a Kabuki Warrior is when the show really jumped the shark for me. I'm still probably gonna watch next season, so whatever.

Well just watched the finale and i dont know ..
I know they never took themselves too seriously but im more of a fan of the tone from the first two seasons. Jason going all Neo inside the authority complex was a bit too much. The sidestories are the worst ever, the wherewolves are just plain boring, the whole birthscene well ... i had to turn down the volume .. Russel dying like this was kinda dissapointing as well. I guess i shouldnt have watched episode 5 and 6 from Breaking Bad and then to this. Kinda feels like Dexter, i keep hoping but end up dissapointed. |

True Blood has NEVER had an epic battle. People usually die immediately on this show. Sometimes it's like some of you guys come to the show expecting it to be some pinnacle of entertainment instead of a campy less than serious damn near smutty exercise in exploring society and what it means to be a human or a monster.
Tsk tsk tsk. |

I hope Warlow is gonna step to Deacon Frost, to protect his property. It will be a shame if he turns out to be a scrub.
Lol @ Mason from Black Ops being in this ep. I really can't stand Jason hating vampires. That shit go so old so long ago. I hope they do something interesting with it. Fuck Russel. He should have met the true death, the first time. Eric's Saiyan Pride didn't get in his way this time though. |

Also, this was the best finale if you consider True Blood as campy entertainment, from the fairy babies to Eric going PLLLEEEEAAASSEE while hanging on the side of the car. |

I think that a lot of people are caught up in some strange meme of hate watching the show on the internet. Talking to non internet users about the show is a completely different experience.

About Bill, what he lacks in age against other vampires he sure makes up for it in smarts/luck. He's managed to outsmart/take out vampires way older than him. Off the top of my head, with Sookie's help he managed to take out his maker Lorena. He ends up with the upper hand against Queen Sophie Ann, stakes Nan Flanigan, behead Kibwe and take out Salome. |

You got swerved, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. He served his purpose to create chaos with the authority, so they could get rid of Mr SVU and they did that. The babies were not out of nowhere, you had to know that Andy's dalience with the faerie would come back up again and what better time then when it is going well for him. |

Just watched the finale, all in all I think I kinda like this season.
Lafayette is always so funny. Finally the shifters are using their powers in an intelligent way, that was nice to see. I like Jason, he grew up, became reliable, we'll see where his hit on the head will bring him, I hope his not gonna go "hate vampire" all again. My main concern are the side stories which are unrelated to everything and thus not very interesting. It COULD be nice, the Ifrit was cool, and the werewolves thing could be useful if it serve a purpose, especially since Alcid is a very good character. I still loathe Bill and Sookie. They are so freaking dumb it's cringe worthy to see. The best characters to me, at least the ones I can relate to are Godric and his progeny, especially Eric. (Alcid too) They are fun but most of all they are the only characters that are intelligent, think things through and see past the immediate pleasure or personal gain. It was nice to see Godric as it shows that Eric and Pam are like that because he taught how to be reasonable and smart to Eric. They seem to make so much sense when they talk compared to other characters. They are basically the heroes of this season.

I really enjoyed this season. Best season since the first for me.
I liked scope. They finally got the most powerful vampires in the world involved. Side stories were reasonably well done (weres, Sam & Co, efreet stuff) unlike say the Jason werepanther stuff which was beyond terrible. Had the right amount of cheese/camp most of the time (a big problem in the past). I do think the Jason going all commando in the last ep was a bit too much, though. Look forward to seeing what happens with Bill and Warlow. Tara hooking up with whatshername was great. Good stuff all round, entertaining for sure. |

The show usually drops hints for where the characters and storylines are going to head. I just don't fathom how you could come to this conclusion.

My thoughts:
-don't see how you could not like the finale and be a fan of the show. Really, really curious to see where they go from here though (with Billith, specifically). -Expected the wolves to play a role in getting the pup back (can't be bothered to remember her name. Emma?). -Disappointed Sam's girlfriend didn't die -Shifters are public now

True Blood isn't 'Heroes' or Dragon Ball Z. Yes, BAT SHIT CRAZY season with a lot of crap, but I enjoyed it overall. I hope they make a more 'serious' season with an actual and convincing story. The sanguinista seemed such a big thing, but we never saw the movement around the world, like it was a real deal. |

Doubt it - Salome specifically stated that the sun was forbidden to them, and I imagine she was the most well-read on the Book of Lilith.

He's experienced death AND the true death. While there may be some semblance of him in this new entity, it is not human nor vampire, and we can only wonder how much control Lilith has now. |

I've never seen the show before, but I know Alan Ball produced it. Surprising that it sucks as he wrote the screenplay for American Beauty and created Six Feet Under. He supposed to be shooting a medical drama for HBO that is loosely based on the Kansas abortion doctor who was killed a few years ago.
You suppose he never set out to make True Blood into the sprawling epics of his previous works? I've always viewed American Beauty and Six Feet Under as companion pieces. Whereas American Beauty is his David, Six Feet Under is his Sistine Chapel. And I can't imagine that he would tackle his upcoming medical drama in such a cavelier fashion either, as it tackles such an important issue. Ball probably gave the best portrayal of a gay couple on prime time television at that point. For me at least, Six Feet Under gave me a better understanding of gay individuals and portrayed them in a more dignified and realistic light than Will and Grace ever could. Also, the show did tackle the abortion issue slightly in the third season when one of the characters had an abortion after she found out she was carrying the fetus of one of her ex-boyfriends. I don't think any show has ever done an in-depth portrayal of abortion on television to this day. It's just done so delicately to the point where it's still seen as taboo -- almost like 2 guys making out with one another seemed until I saw Six Feet Under. If anyone can help bring abortion out of the closet, I think Alan Ball is that person. |

Only just getting around to the finale...This show is hilarious. I wondered after season 3 why I still watch this, but I know now: It's insanity. Cheesy insanity, and I enjoy it. Happy that Bill actually went off the deep end, and I look forward to how they end up dealing with him. And Sam's shifting kill was probably the best kill in this show so far.

yeah, the season finale. gotta love how now Bill is the big bad.
LOL bill. still, it had some poignancy - what with whats his face leaving to work in alaska. tara + pam = LOl still too often, too many divergent storylines happening. The show has too huge a cast. Still, can't wait for next season. |
