Assuming NO group, church or any other religious establishment is gonna be offended (speak out) by a comic depicting an orgie scene of four major religious icons on a popular satire site isn't wierd?

Are you doing this on purpose? Come on, dude. You asked whether the message of the comic is holding up. The message was not "lol no one will be offended," it was "there will be no violent reprisals."

alot of poor people don't even have electricity....they'd be googling the onion?
it'd take people with an agenda building a mob into a frenzy. a better test would be if the onion editors wore that picture on a t-shirt and walk through a neighbourhood of people who could be offended >_> |

But you are totally twisting my question and words, I am doing nothing on purpose. What is wrong with you? Lacking reading comprehension? Did you read the question I asked that Steve quoted me on?
Can you Pin point the part where I ask about violence happening due to this comic? No one can ask a question and get an honest answer around here anymore? Does everyone have to attack each other and twist each other's words? What do you get out of instigating people's random posts? Either answer my question if you have an honest answer for it or ignore it, as you can see someone sensible already did that on the last page. I'm not asking for anything more. Jeez! Thanks :) |

I can see that, but again I used the term loosly, never specifically asked if there were any deaths caused by Buddhist monks
"Catholic church sues the Onion for offensive..." wouldn't that be considered backlash? Or even an insident? Maybe the word "backfire" was a bit too much but again. My question really wasn't asking "So what's the death toll here guys?" Just wanted to see If this comic actually created some real news amongst religious groups around the world. Why all the hostility? Would love it if people took a question at face value and answered it, instead of being asshats, I'm here to get some news, updates about this stuff, not to waste time with ppl who misquote me etc. Sorry for all the edits. I'm typing from a tiny phone

I'm pretty sure this would offend some non-religious people as well.

Ha! Didn't realize Cyan was the same guy who gave me a decent answer the first time to my question, then also proceeded to argue with me. You already answered me once dude, why not leave it at that? I realize it's a joke response, but at least it's a straight forward answer to my question without sounding condescending like others.
And by "others" I mean...

The difference is this is not the first offensive thing printed, written, video recorded of these religions. hundreds of statements in this very thread could be considered offensive. the point is we are not constantly embroiled in religious battles over people excising their freedom of speech. i think we should all sport a picture of Muhammad on our favorite T. We need to take this thing further. The point needs to be made and Islam needs to catch up with rest of the world. |

That was what came to my mind too, it was in season 10 two-parter Cartoon Wars. The whole story was about Family Guy announcing they show Muhammad and riots in the Middle East. At the end of the second episode we were treated with, IIRC, a cartoon of Americans shitting all over Jesus.
Guess what was censored by the network (hint: Muhammad was supposed to appear in Part II) |

I mentioned this in a previous post in this thread, but if the word Buddha is used as a title to refer to a person then it refers to the first person who discovered enlightenment via their own efforts. So for us that would be the Gautama Buddha, everyone else that attains liberation is just an Arahant.
But that just applies to us, in Buddhist cosmology not only is time cyclical but there are other world systems that exist in parallel to ours, and thus other Buddhas as well. |
