And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'

Watched Submarine again, and was reminded how disappointing MK was. It's amazingly well done for a first time film director, too. It's a little more Noah Baumbach than Wes Anderson, but it gave me that feeling that I wish MK could have but didn't.

Finally watched the movie today. My movie of the year*. Weird, charming, at times disjointed, but ultimately highly entertaining. If you haven't seen it, go for it.
*I should probably mention that I haven't seen many movies this year, but it's nonetheless a pretty good one.

I am very surprised this movie managed to make me like a Wes Anderson movie. I may even love it.
Yes it would have been better if the movie didn't go more and more over the top after them met with the creepy seller dude. I really like it up to the "wedding." As far as the look of the movie. I really like the use of the color. Most of them were done with good set design, not shitty ass post processing in a shitty ass Zack Snyder movie. |
