whats the verdict on the new hdmi premiums as far as loudness? My elite is way louder than my launch 360. Oh, and I think the new 65nm chps will have the same heatsinks that the current models as its cheaper than a 1.5 billion warranty business.

Definitely quieter than your typical 360. But if you're waiting for Falcon, you might have to wait a little longer.

I found this out just recently when I tried a few weeks ago to make another account for myself since my sister wanted her own accont for when she drops by and wants to use my PC. Though to be honest I would have unloaded all that stuff at a local BlockBuster since they hand over much better credit value than the malls do. On the back of the box you will see a tab that says "lift tab to see serial number". When you lift the tab it shows the manufactor date. Any console made after July 4th 07 is supposed to have the 65nm chipsets.

I think a few of them have already appeared in stores, but they aren't the majority yet. As more old 360 stock gets sold and stores restock, we should see more and more Falcons appearing on store shelves.

I wasn't concerned with price so much, I just wanted to get the heatsink fix and then seeing the HDMI output on the Premium model sealed it for me. It was overdue for me to get this system and I just figured if I kept waiting I would be waiting forever. There is never a good time to buy technology. But hey, an extra $50 saved is an extra $50 saved. I'm glad to catch that bit of good fortune.

And to follow-up, as I keep hearing claims to the contrary, my Xbox 360 has no mention of HDMI output on the box. It definitely IS one of these newer models, has the HDMI, the new drive, newer heatsinks but is CLEARLY labelled Zephyr on the outside sticker. So if you're on the prowl still and are walking away from boxes that don't say HDMI on them, you could be mistaken.

I just don't think many people would choose a PS3 right at his moment. Not with Mass Effect, BioShock, Halo 3, Madden at 60 FPS, and GTA being the lead development SKU/Having exclusive content on 360. Thats a lot to give up for a PS3 that won't have it's best games out until mid/late 2008.

Well MRCUR from the other board said from the beginning that the 65nm 360s start with lot 0728, which I thought meant manufacturing on July 28th. I guess it means 28th week as the above poster stated?

I also think I was wrong about some of those being out in stores already. I don't think any of that shipment has made it out yet.

Oh, and I just got back from a Target/Best Buy trip, and neither had premiums in stock. I guess the online indicator is actually true, and stores are selling out of the premiums.

What is so hard to understand that Microsoft stopped production of the old 360 because of major hardware failures and had to quickly mass produce the falcons. Therefore in between leaving a shortage (even as Microsoft said there would be).

Idiots, Xbox 360's are not selling out due to high demand, its due to low supply. My Best Buy has not received shipments of them in who knows how long. We have mountains of Elites by the front door which HAVE NOT BUDGED. That was the last shipment of Xboxs we got in a while which was two weeks ago and pros have been around 3-4 weeks since last shipment. Of course though we have the top spin bundle next week.

Weird. Anyway, the week count lines up more often than not. Maxwell, MRCUR actually describes the lot number format earlier (like, much earlier) in that xbox forum thread. Before they knew about the lot number coding most people were pulling manufacturer dates from the serial number...which also has a form of the lot number, apparently.

I assume you bought one of these new HDMI premiums and not an elite. The elite's come with special audio cable that allows you to plug in HDMI and the audio at the same time. What kind of audio outs does that dell monitor have? With that cable you can get either Red/White out or optical out. I'll try to find a shot of that cable it was posted earlier in this thread. I believe some people have said there are some on ebay, which is probably the route to go because I believe the retail price on them is supposedly $50.

We jumped the gun on that one. No doubt, Falcon is close, though (so close, I can feel it). I say, check the multi-barcode sticker to see if it mentions Falcon, Zephyr, or reverts to nothing at all (also making sure that it is, in fact, a HDMI console).

So just to reiterate, it is only speculation that lot 0728 could be Falcon.
