Skyrim PS3 and Dragon's Dogma (both versions) are certainly up there in terms of performance but DD wasn't bad looking. The humans looked shitty – the textures especially – but the animations were good, the spell effects looked fine and the enemy encounters were mind blowing at times. Dragons, gryphons, ogres etc. all looked extremely good and when you're in those crazy battles, hanging onto a flying gryphon for dear life while it catches fire, struggles to shake you off and comes crashing down wailing with you on top going ham with your fiery daggers. That's where it hits it's stride. The environments are beautiful too.
The frame rate sucks though :(
Well, it has a "flexible use license" that's allowed modified versions of it to show up on other platforms. Dirt, Grid, Dark Souls, Critter Crunch, and Amy, for example. The Phyre engine is Sony proprietary, so either PS3 or Vita.

It's a multiplatform engine. With some work, it's been used for 360 as well, Dark Souls and Dirt for example.
From the aspect ratio of the shots, I thought the screens of that game were from the Vita. The fact they're from the PS3 (and not from the launch) makes that whole game look rather sad.
It's Nippon Ichi, they tend to build fairly barebones games then iterate on them a lot. I'm sure it was mostly made to serve as a starting point for other 3D games on PS3.I learn something new every day. :)

Yeah, it seems like a matter of workflow to me. NIS's 2D assets are much more "portable" between games and they get a lot of bang for their buck with them than anything they've done in 3D so far.Originally Posted by VanillaCakeIsBurning

2D stuff is definitely their strong suit.
Worst looking would probably be Deadly Premonition. Same as above, didn't effect my enjoyment of it.
The framerate was so bad that I only beat the final encounter through sheer luck.
My work is done here.
I suppose, in a still shot, it looked like the original but that doesn't mean it was anything like it. It was a terrible clone of the game using the original tile and sprite work.It was glitchy and didn't feel right and was generally horrible, but the look was spot on faithful to the original.
They do tend to reuse assets quite a bit but they are improving (like Disgaea 4 onward with the completely redone sprites).Yeah, it seems like a matter of workflow to me. I'm wondering how long it will take them to reach this level though.
Maybe this generation.
Still would be on any GOTY candidate list for me because XCOM gameplay is so awesome. But damn I wish it wouldn't crash so much.

Fucking G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra on 360 / PS3. That game was Xbox / PS2 in every way possible...
Bought a gtx 580 ( fastest card at that time ) and managed to get a whooped 16 fps with dx 11 features like tesselation in fights. As soon as the action began you where in for something, that was for sure.
The game was terrible optimized
It's the only Bethesda game I played for PS3, I loved fallout 3 so much without a thought bought it again on PS3, after I sold my 360. There were allot of minor and major issues alike, did my best to look past them. I played about 3-4 hours of it before I came across a glitch where the only way I could shoot my weapon was by bringing up my pip-boy... After I shut off and restarted my game multiple times and it still wasn't fixed I fucking sold it asap and never again bought any of their games on the Playstation. I thought people were over exaggerating when they complain about the bugs and glitches, not to mention the poor fps and freezes, but no...no they are not. I don't want to/almost can't imagine a game running as sad as FO3 on PS3.You say Fallout 3 while Oblivion exists?
Well, I do have an example of a high profile game that runs worse... on my PS3 at leastOriginally Posted by Skid 4 Dead

Dragon Age 2 - takes 30+ seconds to load 5 seconds of in-engine dialog cutscene, then on top of that, the sound cuts off in the middle of a sentence.
Couldn't make it past the tutorial. Maybe could have brute forced it through, but that would have probably taken hours
