For the people who aren't regulars in Media Create threads:

What is Dengeki?
Dengeki is a website (it's also a brand of magazines / a book and manga imprint) that publishes sell-through Japanese sales data tracked by Kadokawa ASCII Research Laboratories, Inc., a division of Kadokawa Corporation. Every week they publish a nationwide snapshot of Japanese video game sales with the cooperation of more than 3,000 specialty game stores and convenience store chains all across Japan.

Why post Dengeki numbers when you have Media Create / Famitsu in the OP?
1) Unlike any other tracker, Dengeki gives us software numbers for Top 50 sales so we can track low-performing titles for a longer period of time
2) Unlike the others, Dengeki gives us total software sales for every platform, so we can track the relative health of platform software ecosystems
3) Dengeki is a respected sales tracker with 5 consecutive years of being reported each week in GAF threads

Is Dengeki less accurate than Media Create / Famitsu?
1) Dengeki is just as accurate as Media Create and Famitsu. Just because each tracker has quirks and natural deviations from the others doesn't mean one is inherently superior to the rest.
2) Dengeki is the tracker most unfamiliar to GAF / the public, and sometimes people confuse lack of dissemination with inaccuracy in sales figures
3) The amount of retail stores Dengeki tracks is similar to Media Create and Famitsu

Here are the differences between the trackers:

Media Create:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Media Create Co., Ltd.
+ Tracks more than 3,000 retail stores / chains
+ Top 20 software sales with numbers
+ Top 50 software sales without numbers
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sometimes presents sell-through figures
+ Releases first (at the same time as Famitsu)
+ Nintendo uses these numbers in their investor presentations
+ Distinguishes between 3DS and 3DS LL
+ Distinguishes between Vita and Vita TV
- Does not track download cards
- Does not provide software sales figures past the Top 20

Famitsu:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Enterbrain, Inc.
+ Tracks about 3,600 retail stores / chains
+ Top 30 software sales with numbers
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sell-through ranges for all titles
+ Has the most historical data available for GAFfers
+ Tracks download cards
+ Releases first (at the same time as Media Create)
- Does not distinguish between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Does not distinguish between Vita and Vita TV
- Does not report total software sales

Dengeki:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Kadokawa ASCII Research Laboratories, Inc.
+ Tracks more than 3,000 retail stores / chains
+ Top 50 software sales with numbers
+ Top 3 software sales per platform
+ Total software sales per platform
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sell-through figures for a few titles
+ Distinguishes between 3DS and 3DS LL
+ Distinguishes between Vita and Vita TV
- Inconsistent data reporting over the years
- Does not track download cards
- Releases nearly 24 hours after Media Create / Famitsu

Azalyn's store has similar trends to Comgnet stores:

Shipments:

PS3 Gran Turismo 5: 90
PS3 Gran Turismo 6: 47

WII Dragon Quest X: 30
WII Dragon Quest X Ver. 2: 10
WIU Dragon Quest X: 7
WIU Dragon Quest X Ver. 2: 8

3DS IE Neppuu / Raimei: 16
3DS IE Big Bang / Supernova: 11

- GT and IE down
- DQX expansion for Wii U possibly outselling the original release first week at retail stores

It's not in the top 20.

FtS is going to sell significantly less and nobody should be screaming bomba next week because it is normal for re-releases with added content to perform this way.

Not in the Top 20 so less than 20pt. I believe it will sell well though.

Fantasy Life Link didn't chart on Comg either, but it sold 18k at launch and 70k LTD.

You tell me.

Cool to see the game is selling well. Level-5 actually started advertising it recently (TV ad 1, 2, 3 and new trailer)

Christmas + manga starting this month + anime starting January 8th... I wouldn't be surprised if we see the game charting again soon, though I have no idea how much of an impact all this will have on sales. Sales have been pretty good since release, nice and steady.

Me and Sammy Samusu really need this game.

At least for DQX it is just an expanded version. The other two though, yikes. Level-5 have potentially killed off the Layton, Inazuma Eleven and Little Battlers franchises. Incredible.

I find business-y looks at game franchises super-fascinating but don't know crap about any of those franchises. What did they do to mess it all up?

In short: excessive milking. But also with Little Battlers they essentially switched genres for the newest entry.

Oh, I didn't expect it to set the charts on fire, was just wondering if we have numbers to compare it. I wish we had download numbers for Fantasy Life Link, maybe we could compare them next week.

Thanks anyway

Isn't 600+K a new sales records for the series on japanese territory?

No one should count Nintendo out, they are still a dominant force in the handheld market. But the WiiU ain't looking bright man.

But hey, at least it's guaranteed the WiiU will sell more than the xbox one in Japan.

Should we consider Disney Infinity the true bomba of the week?

Unfortunately the GOAT handheld's number is a little less with just 3,651,082. Still it more than made up for it in the next few years ;)

I hope you're not suggesting for even a second that there's a statistically significant percentage that the Xbox One will do even 1/2 of the Wii U's sales in Japan.
Edit: On second thought, I guess there is a >1% chance of it doing 1/2 of Wii U's sales.

I'm curious about Link Between Worlds. Does anyone have that preorder tracker and how does it compare this far from launch vs. the DS Zeldas and OoT 3D?

Why did you want that edit? There isn't. XB1 will be lucky to match the original XBox LTD.
