Developers that have never made a "bad game"

More of the same opinion doesn't counteract one persons opinion. It's similar to more sales = automatic great game.

But in that case, as SolidSnakex said, all developers have made a "bad" game, because at least one person out there hates one of their games. Now what if we were to talk about Ride to hell:retribution and one person would say he liked it? Not saying his opinions are wrong, but the game is still bad for the majority of others.

If you were to judge a game by it's overall quality, and not by your personal preferance,Games like Persona 4 and Infamous are pretty good for what they are. For example, Little big planet is a game I don't like at all. Don't like the floaty platforming and the whole "create your own levels" is not for me. Does it mean it's bad? Of course not. It has charm, and I can see the game's quality even if it's not to my tastes.

Also Naughty Dog gets eliminated for this:

Blizzard is the most likely candidate IMO. They take forever to make their games and when they come out, it's pure gold every time.

Outside of that... Maybe Naughty Dog?

Studios:
Retro Studios
Monolith Soft
EAD Tokyo
Valve
Ensemble Studios (RIP)
Blizzard Entertainment
Platinum Games
Intelligent Systems
Game Freak

Directors:
Hideki Kamiya
Masahiro Sakurai
Shinji Mikami

I only know of two I can say in confidence.

Retro Studios: Brought Metroid into 3D in a huge way and made a Donkey Kong Country game that is incredible. I have no doubt Tropical Freeze will be good.

Bungie: It's crazy to me to see so little representation of this developer considering their history. I haven't been able to play Minotaur back but Pathways, the Marathon trilogy, Myth duo, Oni and five Halo games have been made without one of them being an objective stinker. I have nothing but insane respect for them.

Halo

Oni wasn't great, and Gnop was just Pong, but they've never made a BAD game.

Some of you have very odd definitions of bad games. Big Rigs was a bad game, Robocop for the Xbox was a bad game, Postal 3 was a bad game.

Calling Diablo 3 anything Blizzard have done in the past five years straight-up "bad" is, well...odd. Disappointing? Sure. Ill-advised? Absolutely. But bad? Mmkay.

Firaxis, worst game they made was Civ 3 which is only considered "bad" if you compare it to the absolutely incredible Civs 2 and 4.

Why all that hate for Jak 2? Given I was about 15 when I played it, but I loved it.

Also, DICE has not been mentioned often.

In terms of multiplayer all of their games were good (not couting Add Ons or DLC's, havent played most of these). But I'm not sure if Battlefield Heroes was an inhouse production, I personally didnt like it, though it might have been a decent F2P title.

Retro Studios - Metroid Prime Trilogy. I don't care for either DKC games but that doesn't mean they aren't good games.

Criterion - Most Wanted is just as great as Burnout 3 IMO. Hated Paradise and never played Black (gun porn).

Honorable mentions: Bioware, Intelligent Systems, Team ICO.
Was going to mention intelligent systems but they developed some gbc launch games that were received kinda negatively.

No love for intelligent systems( paper Mario's and Tetris attack, and fire emblem)? They must have some horrible game i don't know about.

Also, what about alpha dream? Do they have bad games I don't know about because the m&l games have been solid.

Does Rare of Nintendo count?

Retro Studios.

Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2
Metroid Prime 3
Donkey Kong Country Returns

DKCTF looks great too.

BioWare had a great game streak until dragon age II. Monolith Soft made a couple of crap games for the Wii and DS but they were close to me.

AlphaDream made a few Hamtaro games. I have no idea if they're good or not lol.

There are also some Japan only games they've made. Yet again, no idea what their quality is.

And Rare? They made this atrocity.

After seeing X, nothing else matters from Monolith Soft. Will be the SECOND game I buy for the Wii U.

Intelligent Systems had an absolutely amazing record for over 25 years, but then came deeply flawed Super Paper Mario, subpar Paper Mario Sticker Star and finally this year Game & Wario. They still make some amazing games (FE:A, Pushmo, Crashmo), but their history isn't as flawless as it used to be.

Retro Studios is my answer. All of their games are quality work, and they made my personal favorite game of all time.

I like Bungie's output too, although admittedly I haven't played Oni.
