‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (-5%) holds on to No1 for a third consecutive week.

Rockstar/Take 2’s blockbuster has now notched up a total of seven weeks at No1 which is more weeks at No1 than any other GTA title. ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ (-3%) and ‘FIFA 15’ (-10%) swap places with Activision Blizzard’s title up one place to No2 and ‘FIFA 15’ dropping one place to No3. Deep Silver/Koch’s new release ‘Saints Row IV Re-Elected / Gat Out of Hell’ debuts at No4. It is the chart-topper’s first appearance on PS4 and Xbox One and comes bundled with the new stand-alone expansion. A big retailer promotion on ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ helps boost sales by 401%, propelling it back into the Top 10, up from No30 to No5.

‘Far Cry 4’ (-21%) slips 2 places to No6, ahead of ‘Minecraft: Xbox Edition’ (-4%) which is also down 2 places at No7. Like the Xbox Edition, sales of ‘Minecraft: Playstation Edition’ remain reasonably stable, down only 3%, as it also drops 2 places to No9. ‘Rugby 15’ from Big Ben/Koch debuts at No8, while ‘Ubisoft’s ‘The Crew’ (-22%) falls 4 places to No10.

With a chart entry like that I don't think the demand is there. Peter Moore said when he was back at EA Sports he wanted to do Cricket and Rugby but the opportunities just aren't there. Got to imagine it won't be performing well in many other markets either.

Rugby is borderline, but Cricket would likely be a complete waste of funds. No one cares apart from the UK and to a lower extent Aus/NZ.

Aye , i was surprised that the new gen versions did not get the same price cut also LOL at Dying light in the top 10 best seller items on Amazon UK

I guess people still think it is coming out this week

That Don Bradman Cricket game comes out on New Gen systems next month. I hope there is some demand for it. It is a good game

See. This annoys me. How do companies know how well a rugby game will perform when there are no good rugby games on the market? I'd be there day one if a company managed to make a non-janky rugby game.

"Market research" usually. It's not perfect, and can be woefully inaccurate (one way or another) but if they have information like, "the approximate intersection of people who are interested in Cricket and own a PS4/XB1", that can be used to figure out how large the audience is. Then, you estimate what the ROI on making a game for that market is, but, as well for a company like EA, you have to look at which other products you're working on will lose resources and how that will affect those games (critically or financially), i.e. the opportunity cost of such an endeavor.

That means that a Cricket game needs to sell pretty darn well to be worth EA's time and money.

So while PS4 and XBO have the same number of titles in the top 40, it's clear that PS4 is back on top in the UK after the XBO holiday fire sales.

PS4 - 206 places cumulatively
Xbox One - 233 places cumulatively

So Xbox One titles are ~2 places lower on average.

Well there is India, by all accounts they seem quite keen on the Cricket. Not a huge Console/PC gaming market but growing. You'd probably also gather a few sales in other cricketing countries such as South Africa and Pakistan.

Interesting that you single out the X1 as being the only console on fire sale.

Well PS4 was back on top of things in December according to that MCV report and must have sold a crazy amount to cancel out X1 sales increase in November

Yeah, UK saw insane PS4 deals as well, like console + game (if not games) for 279.99.
I got a white PS4 + Driveclub for £279.99 from Amazon. There were insane deals on both. IMO the PS4 deals were better overall, the best Xbox deal was only appealing if you like Assassin's Creed.

Well, we should try to be as fair as possible and pretending the X1 was the only console on fire sale in the UK just isn't true.

He's a guy that trolls the Xbox as often as possible. He's in the new Quantum Break thread now claiming it's a corridor shooter. He doesn't need to be taken seriously.

This was true in the US as well. PS4 had much better bundles than MS's Assassins Creed option. MS beat it on base price, but PS4 bundles won on quality and value imo.

I should have said November instead of holiday, because XBO won November thanks to great bundles.

Then PS4 was back on top in December also thanks to great bundles as you say and now that the holiday rush is over PS4 looks to continue on top.

Well, we should try to be as fair as possible and pretending the X1 was the only console on fire sale in the UK just isn't true.

A point could definitely be made that the PS4 price reductions/deals were all purely reactionary to the XB1 price cuts, but I don't see how such deep price cutting on XB1 can be taken as anything other than being in reaction to low sales of that console (Either comparatively or otherwise) is all I meant.

He's a guy that trolls the Xbox as often as possible. He's in the new Quantum Break thread now claiming it's a corridor shooter. He doesn't need to be taken seriously.

In actuality I don't really post in XB1's directly labelled/related threads all that often, and when I do I don't "troll" as much as I present an opinion that usually sets the more defensive MS fan types frothing at the mouth for seemingly no better reason than I'm posting something that I posted before that disagrees with their view... therefore I am apparently "Trolling every XB1 thread ever!".

Also, for the sake of accuracy, I made a post this morning, several hours ago, in a Quantum Break thread stating that it looked like what GAF likes to call a "corridor shooter" based on all the footage of the game I'd seen so far. When challenged I asked for some media showing otherwise and that I would happily revise my opinion if it was based on incorrect information. I was not shown otherwise.

tl, dr: "He's in the new Quantum Break thread now claiming it's a corridor shooter." is a bullshit statement and some of you need to be a lot less defensive about every opposing opinion.

Seems fairly competitive in the UK between PS4 and XB1, still good for Sony I suppose relative to last gen.

I am always curious to see Wii U shipments regionally so at least I can look forward to that. Seeing combined XB1/360 shipments later today is not too exciting to be honest.

Yeah sure, but those are incredibly small VG markets. I didn't mean interest in cricket in general, but for a company, from a financial standpoint, would it be worth producing such a game?
