So Monster Hunter disappoints on a high level.

Does anyone have comparisons to the later PSP MH games?
They should announce support for their next hardware fast and it makes sense for it being the Switch. They could still have a MH game be somewhat underbudgeted this way and using their existing models and animations while updating shaders and textures.

The only late PSP game was Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, which is the zenith.
However, it's release isn't comparable at all.

Monster Hunter XX have better numbers on Famitsu.

Also :

23./12. [NSW] Dragon Quest Heroes I & II for Nintendo Switch <Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below \ Dragon Quest Heroes II> <RPG> (Square Enix) {2017.03.03} (¥8.800) - 3.538 / 35.098 <40-60%> (-37%)

27./15. [NSW] Puyo Puyo Tetris <PZL> (Sega) {2017.03.03} (¥4.990) - 2.931 / 20.860 <40-60%> (-42%)

Puyo Puyo Tetris, I think that already better than the Wii U version and I hope that Dragon Quest Heroes keep selling, for a few more weeks and reach about 50k.

No signs of Diasgaea or I am setsuna.

1 million first week is not a dissapointment imho

Q1 continues the upward trend of Q4. Maybe there will be will be bigger rise than expected. Japan continues to die.

I don't think the XX number is bad. It's overkill at this point and the game wasn't needed at all. I expected it to sell less but that's partially because I'm burnt out on Monster Hunter right now and have no interest in buying XX if/when it comes Stateside...

...unless it's on Switch and then I'd buy the shit Day one.

See that number Capcom? That's what you get for trying to be greedy. I guess they know the demand for MHXX Switch is high, but we're talking about Capcom here and they can mess this shit even further.

Anyway, how can Switch still sold 50k unit? I thought they are out of stock anywhere?? Redirected stocks perhaps?

First week sales.

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd - 705,281
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G - 880,468
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd - 1,950,717

Thanks, I didn't have in mind that there weren't really any spinoffs at the time.

Really not that comparable. MH5 will be very interesting though..

3DS trying to cling hard

Frustrated by all the statements of trying to milk the system for more years from both Nintendo and other Japanese creators

i want off the 240p train...
In another thread, I'm sure I remember you saying you sold your 3DS. So what are you talking about?

Says a lot about Monster Hunter when an updated release comfortably beating the latest Final Fantasy is (rightfully) seen as having disappointing sales. Though maybe they wouldn't be disappointing if Capcom had realistic expectations. At least RE7 is going well for them in the west.

1 million in 2 days is bad?

It's not bad but we are talking about one of the most consistently high selling franchises in Japan. It's importance comes with extra scrutiny. Especially when it's by far the most profitable product Capcom has going for it at a reliable turnaround. Those aren't numbers Capcom are celebrating.

How? Dragon Quest XI seems to be fine with it.

TBF DQXI really isn't comparable though I never really understood why it was so important to Capcom. It'll probably end up multiplatform now as even that reason isn't exactly applicable. (No ones going to be taking out their PS4 to play local multiplayer with their friends)

So behind the 3DS and Wii U, mostly in line with the PS4. I'm oddly surprised. Must be supply constraints.
Maybe the interesting thing to look for will be "Time to under 30K" or "Time to under 20K".
In another thread, I'm sure I remember you saying you sold your 3DS. So what are you talking about?
I'm gonna guess: wishing there wasn't so much content coming out of the next year still exclusive to the 240p train.

Holy wow, referring to posts I made way back in 2014! That's some dedication.

And I fail to see how my previous post can be considered port begging.

Your locked thread jogged some memories. It's not often you see someone complain about something as irrelevant as PS Blog comments.

You asked for Vita projects (unnamed as they may be), to be moved to Switch.

Just realised that Minecraft PSV dropped off the Top 20 last week, for the first time since launch iirc. Guess Super Mario Maker for 3DS is going to top my "leg-o-meter" this year.

Mmmm that's a shame. I was basically using MC as a Vita relevancy indicator, so this doesn't bode well.

PS4 gets releases almost every week, that variety is the strength of the platform.

The system is over 30% YTD increase, so there's that

It's also not the first time that the PS4 has the modt entries in the Top 20. It has good software sales.

PS4 doing strong and good hold for Zelda, decent for Senran Kagura too? Everything else seems disappointing.
I hope those Switch numbers are because it's out of stock, doesn't look good otherwise.

Well sure but that is exactly because how much softer first two weeks it had because massive supply issues. Had 3DS suffered from similarly low supply it would too had had amazing third week hold. I mean Switch is obviously doing better than recent launches (like PS4) but until it starts to catch 3DS (and hopefully pass) it's hard to say just how well it's doing. Maybe there is more demand than for 3DS or maybe not. We shall see.
I don't know if comparing Switch directly to 3DS alone and not other consoles is the exclusive metric we should be using. I know we're in uncharted territory with the Switch though.

I wonder if MH5 will be exclusive to one platform or not after this.

Whether MH5 is exclusive or multiplat does not depend on MHXX. In fact, the decision's already be taken, though it's not like they're going to announce it now.

Only way MHXX would have an impact on MH5 exclusivity would be if it was somehow going to be only on 3DS for some insane reason.

So when Capcom have their next financial/earnings meeting, are they going to blame those Switch owners who have moved on or who are "waiting for a port" for MHXX failing to sell how many they wanted, or are they going to blame their own decision to make it a 3DS exclusive rather than cross platform?

You'll take your MH exclusively on PS4 and like it.

I'm pretty certain it won't be exclusive to PS4, handheld gaming is so big in Japan that just doesn't cut it for Capcom. You cannot play PS4 in the train, at school, etc. Which from what I've seen is part of the appeal of MonHun series, hunting with your friends.
I could see it go PS4/Switch or exclusively for Switch, but if it's exclusive for PS4 you can paint me surprised.

It will be PS4/Switch, I think this is very obvious.

MH5 could be on PS4/Switch. But MHXX? No fucking way considering the graphic. A MH4U N3ds texture with locked 60fps is acceptable for Switch, but it is not for PS4.
