GTA4 + iCEnhancer mod. Holy mother of god.

What the fuck. When I was scrolling near the bottom of the last page, I kept wondering why would people compare photos of real life with the game. Then I checked out some details and noticed the night scene didn't really look that nice. But otherwise, those are... amazing.

The downsampling is doing a lot for this though, tiny screenshots of modern games usually look impressive.
Ummm
When the game is rendering at 3600x2000 or w/e and then downsampling, it pretty much looks like those screenshots. Those shots arent lying. The .ini settings are pretty demanding.

Here's an older post I made a while back in another thread. These are some of the older settings:

I've been waiting for this thread to be bumped.

Playing this on PC with graphics mods is like :O
(I just recently discovered the ENB graphics mod and the photorealistic textures download)

I've tried the iCEnhancer mod and it doesn't look good to me. Just looks overbloomed and over contrasted. DESTROYS the framerate too. So... anything else I could use?

Just tried Dpeasants config, runs a helluva lot worse than Ice's and honestly, looks a bit bland. The 'realistic' look is there but not as profound as the downsampled screenshots. Think I'm sticking the Ice's for now.

EDIT: New link

These are bullshots ive tried different texture packs, car models, enb settings and never got it anywhere near the level of realism as those shots.

His new settings arent out. What you played were his old settings. He's taken some of the things from Ice's effects.ini and some shaders and modified them in his new settings. He hasnt released the files for it yet.

Meh, if his idea of a config is 5fps then I don't even want to give him the benefit.

Is anyone else getting a wacky Depth of Field effect? It seems it's focusing on different areas and I constantly different areas of blurring just when I'm walking or driving. I'm also getting lots of lights and some overexposure in the lighting like evilcookie's post. Tried the two rared files but it still looks the same.

Dynamic dof, it focusses on whatever is in your 'crosshair' (center of your screen).
It's shown in a video somewhere in this thread.

Sethos, you still mad about WWII?:p Use abload -,-

Jesus, some of these pics look crazy good. I always wanted my gta4 to look this good but whenever I tried a certain mod or enb series config, it just never looked as good as these

Ok
To clear up a few misconceptions and to help a few people out:

1st off, if you're getting over blown graphics and everything looks washed out...it's because you dont have xliveless which has anti-mod preventions built in.
Get xliveless from here and copy to the GTA IV directory. Just plop it in there.
http://public.sannybuilder.com/GTA4/xliveless-0.999b7.rar

Also, for those of you saying BULLSHOTS and you have icenhancer's config...I suggest that you go into the iceconfig.ini file and change this line to true like so:
ForceAntialiasing=true
That enables supersampling so you can get the nice downsampled look in the screens posted above. Beware that it makes the intro and the main menu super huge to the point where you cant see anything. All you have to do is just press enter when you get to the main menu and it'll start the game.

This next line adjusts how much supersampling is applied. 1.00 is rendering the scene at double your current resolution and downsampling from there. 0.87 is a nice middle ground. Some of you that have dpeasant's config...you need to change it from 1.0 to 0.86, that's why its running like dog shit.
AntialiasingUpScale=0.87

For those of you that dont like the oversharpened look:
Open the option.txt file and adjust this line
float SharpeningAmount=20;
Default is 20. Lower it to lower amount of sharpening.

Ive tried everything and i just can't get this to work. ;(

After i put in the mod files, GTA just refuses to load.

Hah, there's a story about this on Joystiq today. I really feel that they are the worst offender in the GAF>Internet>GAF cycle. It's like they are constantly monitoring Gaming and create an article when a thread breaks a post threshold.

Lets make a 200 page thread on how much joystick sucks then, or create a totally bogus thread to see who copies it.

Love how they make it sound like iCEnhancer created this from scratch. It's basically just a custom config and some added effects to the ENB mod, the core of it all. I mean, all kudos to Mr. Glace for the iCE mod but credit where credit is due.

Okay guys... I'm sorry but modding has always scared me and there seems to be so much discussion about different versions and things with this that I have no idea what to do!

I want to play the game like those screen shots seem to show.

I own the game on Xbox 360 which is currently at my brothers house, but I will buy and download the Steam version (or any other DD version of the game if that's a better option) in order to play this as soon as possible tonight or tomorrow.

Steam version is preferable, but could someone please point me in which direction I should be going and which mods I should be using to make the game look like those videos?

Do I just use simply his mods? Does he have others mods in there as well? To me it looks like all his cars are modded as well, does that mean he's modded all his cars, or does his mod contain all those cars and will I have to mod all those cars myself as well?

Is there a thread or some sort of link that outlines some instructions on getting a photo realistic effect for graphics and stuff?

I've got an i7-860 @3.5Ghz with 2x6950 (unlocked to 6970s) so I should really be able to smash the graphics in this and I am super keen on figuring this shit out so any help would be much appreciated!

I'm scoping out GTA4-Mods.com and I'm just wondering, should I buy the Steam version and wait for this mod to come out later or is there another version that I should buy? I dunno what to do!?!

I think I'm gonna need to pile on mod after mod right? Plenty of car mods and texture mods and stuff? I skimmed this thread, so I'm going to have to go back through and read it properly... wish I bought GTA during one of the darn sales :/

RDR would be amazing. The weather effects were already amazing.
The best part is that I own the PS3 version of RDR so if it ever came out on PC it would be a bigger leap.

Just for a laugh and some contrast to all the pictures in the thread, GTA IV vanilla on 1.0.4.0 with no AA.

GFWL actively prevents mods from working? It's like they're just giving me hate ammunition.

So you think an online echosystem should just allow completely modified games to access the service and online, it's changing core files, it'd be stupid not to deactivate.

Having a weird issue; reinstalled and patched to 1.0.4.0; pasted icenhancer 1.2 into the directory, changed some values (like enabling AA, the tree settings Sethos had a few pages back) and now my resolution is stuck at something like 33__ x 1152 (or somethings 18__)

If I add the -width 1920 -height 1080 to the command line properties, it sort of fixes things..it's still screwed up and I can't change the resolution in game or even at the main menu
