This seems the most appropriate thread. Anybody getting odd microstutter/pulldown in DeltaZeal? I have a gsync monitor and this is basically the same kind of consistent pulldown I'm used to seeing when emulating a game in MAME with vsync on back on a non-gsync monitor. The game runs at a normal average speed, but shadows, for example, aren't flickering at steady rates.

I found this especially strange given that XIIZeal runs butter-smooth, but then I wondered if the original arcade game this is based on, G-Stream G2020, ran on hardware with a weird refresh rate, to the point where the port team had to adapt this game to a "normal" 60hz. It looks like G2020 ran on one-off hardware (not the same Taito board used by XII Stag). MAME has that hardware at 60hz, but I figure that could be a placeholder.

I've never seen the 360 version of the game for comparison.

Everytime I see this thread I am soooooooooo excited. Its an amazing time for PC shmup fans. I am insanely excited that Caladrius Blaze is hitting PC thanks to H2 Interactive, that Cave is coming to Steam and starting with Mushihimesame and that We have seen an amazing tidal wave of stuff like Eschatos, DeltaZeal and XIIZeal hit recently!

Just an amazing amount of quality lately. Fantastic time for shmups.

Hmmm... Have you tried turning GSync off? I haven't experienced this at all on my end. I've also got res set to auto... Not much to change in terms of visual settings. I've also got scaling set to 225/225.

Edit: I have an idea for the OP... is it worth creating/linking to a Steam curators list by those on GAF we trust in making shmup decisions? I know there are a number of them on Steam that aren't worthy, so to have a group/list we can follow to know what needs to be bought, that'd make life easy. As long as it was maintained, of course.

Actually, leaving it on but setting my desktop to 60hz seems to have solved the issue. Really odd, but I'll take it!

I was mainly doing this to maintain a release schedule of games coming up. Not to put the entire catalog of PC shooters up. I just maintain what's been released for that year. Once 2015 is over I'm moving those games to a post inside within the topic and using the second post for 2016 releases. The main point of this topic is so people know what's on the horizon for PC shooters without having to stumble upon it by mistake or having to go on a hunt for the latest and greatest.

I am thinking about putting notable shooters from certain Sub Genres into my thirst post to include games from past and present so people who frequent here can have a go to guide for what's good on PC. As soon as I get done with work/class today I'll try to do a big update to the topic.

Most of them don't have STEAM pages. That's why I started just placing things in this thread. I think there are maybe 3 or so games on my future release list that has a STEAM store page. Most of these games don't pop up with a store page until a week before or the day of release.

Well not exactly a complete catalog but as you said like notable releases. On your OP you say that there is a lack of organization for the PC shmup scene. Perhaps noting a few of them that are already in existence can kinda bump that up a bit.

btw: does anyone know how I cleared Mushihimesama original mode yesterday apparently without defeating Boss 5 according to achievements? Is there some special requirements to get to the last bosses? (I used a bunch of continues etc.)

Did you kill the boss or did it time out? Bosses will explode on their own if you take too long to kill them, and the achievements don't fire if this happens.

If that's not the case, today's patch notes state they resolved an issue where achievements were not firing for 2P side.

Mushihimesama has a dedicated thread so you might get faster help if you post there.

Adding A.N.N.E. It's a Platformer/Shoot'em up hybrid. I funded the kickstarter a while back and forgot that this was in the pipeline.

This is by the same guy who made the Boss Fight browser and standalone game. It's a simple little shooter where you only fight one boss. For those interested, it's free to download. Boss Fight page

I also want to bring up that Zangeki Warp, from Astro Port as well, has their game up for sale already. I think it's been there for a while.

I don't know when or why it happened, but going through this list again today... man. This is honestly probably the best shape the genre's been in since the early '90s.

Wow, I had no idea there were so many schmups out there. I never got too into the genre, but I think I'd like to give it another shot.

Are there any with bosses that take forever to kill as you gradually break pieces off of them? I've always loved that kind of thing.

to the people here, buy at least some of these games at full price, don't wait for sales/bundles. These devs/publishers are catering to you, you specifically, reward them thusly.

Great thread idea! I'll never forget downloading and playing Cho Ren Sha 68K for the first time back in 2001, still my favorite freeware shmup.

Nice one, I didn't realise this was out already, I'm a big fan of Gigantic Army too.

There's almost too many games coming so close together with Strania and Dariusburst coming so soon after Mushi and more to follow (Caladrius?)
