PlayStation VR Launch Thread: Welcome to The Real World

So Reloaded is currently winning on votes for thread title but a lot have voiced that its to plain to be a title. It really hard choice because I feel like its good title but not a great title like Am I dead? Far from it. Decisions, Decisions... What to do.

Props for The LittlStar That Could, made me chuckle.

Eagle Flight is killing me with the blinders. They still haven't released a patch for it, have they? Because I couldn't play more than 15 minutes of it with the blinders

Nope that is ultimately why I stopped playing the game. Also that it boots you to a menu screen after every three attempts, which as a design decision for a game with leaderboards is ridiculous.

Apart from Rush of Blood (not actually played this myself yet) it is my most used game for people new to VR. I use it to acclimatise people who are new to VR to a full range of motion and acceleration, it has worked pretty much perfectly in doing so.

Here are a few more Matrix ideas.

PlayStation VR |OT2| Buckle your seatbelt Dorothy Because Kansas is going bye-bye.

PlayStation VR |OT2 No one can be told what VR is. You have to see it for yourself.

Am I dead? Far from it.

Is the best. Short, has a meaning even if you don't remember matrix quotes by heart and somewhat represents current VR situation)

Air one is ok too.

I vote for "Am I dead? Far From it." From in capital, because From is working on a VR title ;)

Don't like the "am I dead, far from it" idea. It'll just just invite haters into the thread with no contribution other than to dispute the thread title. As a PSVR lover, I can't say they wouldn't have a good argument either. VR is still super niche and costly. And even without the arguments, that title would put the idea of VR being dead in the back of readers' minds and foster doubt even if they never click on the thread.

Sorry I don't have any good suggestions, myself.

Naming a thread is hard man. The deadline is almost upon us, dammit.

Edit: I'm going out guys try not to end this thread till 6pm at least, lol.

As long as it isn't horror, I'm in. I want a VR game where I can exist in a cyberpunk environment so bad. Even like a point and click adventure where you use a regular dual shock would please me so much.

You and me both brother, you and me both.

or sister can't assume these days

Finally got around to completing my little video about Farpoint. Tried it at PSX. Can't wait for the real thing. Also in the video, is NeoGAF's very own xillyriax working at the booth (and who convinced Porge to suicide jump a couple of times!).

Edit - HAH, just realized I misspelled "subscribe"

Last words for thread: Buy and play Resident Evil 7 in VR.

Thread naming:
PlayStation VR |OT2| The body cannot live without the mind
PlayStation VR |OT2| Woah
PlayStation VR |OT2| The digital pimp hard at work
PlayStation VR |OT2| It just sounds to me like you need to unplug, man

My first vote was for ''reloaded'' but I change it for the ''You think that's air you're breathing''.

But ''reloaded'' its ok even though I would prefer it for the PSVR2 ΟΤ.

Just grabbed Werewolf within, ping pong vr and dying reborn or wtv it's called with the 20% discount code and some bday psn money.

Ping pong is a blast, pretty much feels like the real thing.. until you move too far left or right from the camera and don't realize that's why the tracking started to suck.

Checked the tutorial stuff for werewolf within.. didn't realize it was a one night version of the game. I'll probably try playing a game tomorrow.

The other one I'm waiting to play with my girlfriend so that I don't get to figure out all the puzzles ahead of time.

So guys, got any last words you wanna share before this thread locks?

Its been a great thread and really been helpful with info on PSVR games.

two months in now with my PSVR and im still having a blast with it. Not gathering dust, its always being used. Still blown away by it. One day Im going to have to post my impressions on all the games I've played and all. So much I wanna say.

By the way has anyone else tried out the Aquarium Evol "demo" from the Japanese PSN store? Seems to have been put up there a few weeks back for plus users but not much was said about it. I didn't even know about it until i checked the special section of the store for a quick look at this months themes. Sadly while its got some pretty cool little moments, its almost as short as the Godzilla experience they have. Still it kinda gives a feeling of what a giant robot game could look like in vr. But way too short and almost no interaction. Still cool to hear that great theme in the background.

Please be good.

Also

check out Starblood Arena. Looks like some Spiritual Successor to Rigs. Hopefully Sony doesn't shut them down either.

Any Fated impressions yet from people who've played it, or reviews? Watched the trailer but difficult to get a sense of how it plays, is it free movement, traditional pad or move wands?

Tested my first VRPorn.

This shit is scary real.

/thread lol

I had a quick look myself ( for erm... research purposes) and I looked like I was f*cking a giant. Unfortunately despite having a pretty open mind...
that's not my fetish.

In other news I played through Fated: The Silent Oath last night and, despite it looking a bit ropey in places, I quite enjoyed it. If anyone is thinking of picking it up then be warned that it starts off terribly. In fact the first 30 minutes are so, so boring, but it does pick up quite well towards the end. Clocked in at 85 minutes which seems OK for £8.

I'll pickup part 2 when it's eventually released.

... Oh and Holoball is amazing (if you have the space).

Lol. See above. It's free movement using the DS4 but the movement speed is incredibly slow. If you've ever played Everyone's Gone To The Rapture before then that will make you feel like Usain Bolt in comparison. It doesn't support Move Controllers but plays fine using the standard controller. If you suffer from motion/VR sickness there's a couple of scenes that may effect you (specifically
while riding a horse and cart
) but there's numerous settings available to combat this. The game is split up into 4 sections offering a variety of game-play experiences. You'll be hunting, cart riding, exploring and (extremely basic) puzzle solving.

*WARNING* If you suffer from arachnophobia or chiroptophobia (fear of bats) then there's a couple of brief sections which will have your skin crawling.

Just remember not to expect a great deal from the game as you can really tell it's the studio's fledgling outing in VR, but there's enough there to keep me interested in the next chapter.

Nice one, thats a good detailed breakdown of what to expect and seems like it would be rude not to at the price, especially if there's potential for the developer to expand it if we support them at this stage.

Agreed. I'm more then happy to support any new developers who are willing to bring Vive/Oculus content over to PSVR.

I'm just hoping enough people buy this to ensure the series can continue. Reading a few comments from developers I know the second part is in the works as we speak so fingers crossed we'll see more stuff soon.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Did anyone purchased Fated: The Silent Oath? Where's the rotation scheme in this game? I was told you can only turn by snap rotation mode, no standard rotation mode?

I'm going to pick it up either this evening or tomorrow so if nobody has replied by then I will let you know.

Played RIGS again after a little while without it. Man, that game is just all kinds of awesome. Almost a shame it was a launch title instead of later when it was slightly more mainstream.
