So far I've purchased the Civ VI + XCOM 2 bundle for $42. Haven't played either yet. I'll probably also buy the Double Fine bundle for $15 so I can have classics like Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle in my collection.

Stellaris Leviathan DLC - Haven't actually played it yet.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - Enjoying it so far, it's actually relaxing, and I like the aesthetics.

Hell Girls - My wife egged me into buying it. 10/10 shame, would not buy again.

I picked up Toki Tori 2. It never really looked all that interesting to me but descriptions of it sounded like a game I would really like. I'm already impressed by the design. I really like games that have "learn by doing" approach, which make games super satisfying. It's kind hard to see this in videos though but this game has a lot of that.

Shenzhen I/O.

That's it so far. It's the only thing I came into this sale intending to buy. I may end up doing otherwise, but for now this is good.

Knowledge is power, guard it well
Only game I've purchased is Sunless Sea.

I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I know I'll love it. I'm a roguelike whore, and what I've read excites me immensely.

I love everything about his post! Except maybe the part that you haven't played them yet. =D But that time will come I'm sure. And that time will be consumed by those games.

Haven't picked anything up myself yet. Criminal Past DLC for Deus Ex is a must, haven't decided what else. 227 games in wishlist to choose from, so it's not like I don't have anything to buy. The difficult part is to choose which ones this time.

Heart&Slash: it's alright but I don't see myself ever passing the 1 hour mark so I refunded it already. Like many others I'm past buying games for the backlog/counter.

Only bought Super Hot. Already played thru it and working on some of the challenges. It's a really cool game and concept.

Everything else on my list is just not in a good enough sale yet and I have several games in line with a few in progress on PS4.

I bought the new Hitman and really enjoyed it. Marrakesh and especially Colorado were a lot less interesting levels than the others though.

Also bought The Silver Case, but I haven't really played it much yet so I can't comment on it.

Hollow Knight is the only thing I've bought so far, but it has impressed me. It plays great and is just beautiful. I highly recommend it.

+ Darkest Dungeon expansion & F1 2012

All great games and all not getting any play time for a week or so at least and likely taking me over a few years to actually get through some, while others disappear into the backlog for future years

Decided to finally buy Tyranobuilder to make my own visual novel. That and I got that mecha game they made a thread about recently and that I forgot its name already.

Debating whether or not I should buy Bayonetta, TiTS SC and many others.

Did you mod NV at all? The base game is good but it really shines once you do mod it and help get rid of the bugs. The writing alone holds up.

I did, yeah. Honestly no amount of mods could fix what I didn't like about it, it just felt horrible to play. Fallout 4 is massively better in that department, it doesn't play as well as other titles in the genre but it plays well enough and the world and characters are interesting enough that I want to explore more.

Concrete Jungle: A very fun puzzle game so far. Makes me wonder what else is floating out there, obscured by the negative reviews of idiots (why do people expect every game to satisfy every gaming desire?).

Pinball FX 2 VR & the season 1 pack: Wow! Didn't expect a VR version of this game that's been around so long (Xbox 360 game) to make such an impression. Blows away the feel of playing in 2D. If you have a VR headset pick it up!

Pinball FX 2 (non-VR) tables: Sadly, there's no progress being made in releasing more VR tables, but the game is still great. Picked up a bunch of tables (some I owned on X1).

Hollow Knight
: This game is super overrated. I really don't get it. It's perfectly made, but what has been made isn't interesting to me in the slightest. There's nothing this game does better than all others of its kind. Doesn't help that this is the 200th game like this I've played.

Bejeweled 2 & 3
: These games are sorta classics... The music in each game is fantastic, too.

SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS: If you haven't played a lot of Dynasty Warriors clones this game is great for turning off your brain (and a lot of games I own actually require thinking). Helps if you like the anime titty, it's very sexy for softcore porn. (this game may actually serve as an aphrodisiac, it worked for us.)

Pharoh Rebirth
: Seems to be an excellent Japanese indie game. There have been a lot Metroidvanias like this, but I dig the ancient Egypt theme.

Adobe: This VR puzzler seems really solid. Puzzles definitely aren't immediately apparent. Nice cyberpunk feel.

Turok 2: I loved Turok 1 in the day, and today. But I think 99% of the appeal is nostalgic, considering I couldn't enjoy this at all. It doesn't compare favoritably to games of its era nor to games of today. If you don't have fond memories of this game definitely take the pass.

Dick Wilde: I thought something about this VR shooter must be more than the sum of its parts, but it absolutely is not. Definitely pass.

Twisted Arrow: Not only is this VR title cheap, it's a great game. The actual bow & arrow aren't implemented very well, but the gameplay is. Really fun and makes you feel like a Marvel superhero.

Final Approach: This is the crown jewel of my VR pick-ups. Great visuals, and much more compelling than the iOS alternatives. I feel like I'm playing with Micromachines, It's hard to not make mistakes as an air traffic controller.

Crazy Fishing
: This (VR) game is really rough, but it's also really good. As someone whose total fishing videogame experience consists of Bass Duel and Sega's Bass Fishing, this game fits alongside very neatly. Lots to explore, lots to catch, and the fishing pole feels great.

QuiVR: The best bow simulation videogame of all time. Low on content. (it's a VR game)

Shantae Half Genie Hero
: Another fantastic entry to the Shantae series. What I didn't expect was the quality of the music, WOW!

Elven Assassin: Another very solid bow & arrow VR game. This one has a nice balance of features at $5.

Everspace: There's still not a ton of space shooters, and this one is a roguelike. The production values blew me away. Seriously, I cannot overstate how strong the production quality is in this game. If you don't own it you probably are not prepared either.

Strikey Sisters: There aren't a ton of Arkanoid-clones. While this game suffers from the flaw of all break-outables, it's a very solid game. Will pass final judgement when I've played it coop with my S/O.

The level of jank in New Vegas just made it impossible for me to enjoy it, had I played it at release it may have been different but playing it in 2016 just showed its flaws magnified x1000. It's the same with Dark Souls, loved DS2, DS3 and Bloodborne but couldn't even stand to finish the first game as the PC port was so awful (yes I had the "fix").

It's not the mods AFAIK, I searched and it seems to be a common complaint, if you don't have an SSD it's even worse. You just brute forced it with the 950 Pro which is considerably faster than most SSDs people will have in their gaming rig.

850 Evo:

Read: 540MB/s
Write: 520MB/s

950 Pro:

Read: 2200MB/s
Write: 900MB/s

Oh, yeah, I guess that was a lot of my reasoning for buying it. Not helpful, sorry :/

So far I've gotten Middle-earth: Shadow of Morder, the Orange box, Call of Duty: WaW, Black Mesa, Tomb Raider Anniversary, Tomb Raider Underworld, Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City, and Outcast. All awesome games IMO.

This is my first year having a laptop that can run any sort of game. So I used this Steam sale to pick up some older RPGs I've never gotten to play. So here's my haul:

Baludr's Gate Enhanced Edition $6.79: I've gotten through the tutorial, and I think I'm going to enjoy it. Gonna have to take my time, as I've got a lot to learn about the systems and mechanics.

Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition $6.79

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic $2.49: Been having some trouble getting this to play at the moment. Game seems to crash after character creation. Gonna fiddle around with it later on.

Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edtion $7.49: Haven't put any time into this yet, but I'm excited to give it a go.

I'm in the same boat with finally having an OK laptop. I bought KOTOR 2, Civ 5, Hotline Miami, and Transistor. I'm really interested in Shadow Tactics, but I'm going to wait. Disappointed that Grandia 2 isn't on sale.

So far I have bought:

The Walking Dead A new Frontier: Haven't played it yet. Will start tonight

Assassin's Creed Rogue: Liking it so far. More black Flag.

Warhammer 40K Spacemarine: It's actually enjoyable.

I still have $10 i want to spend this sale. So on the look out. Want to buy games that i have skipped over the last five years. I recently played Ori and the blind forest; tales of the borderlands and Valiant hearts. And i loved them.

Finally got Audiosurf 2, ironically, I think I still prefer the original but I still have to check out the game fully.

Also got ICEY which is pretty freaking awesome right now. Probably will double-dip when it comes out on PS4.

I got Nex Machina which I've really been having a lot of fun playing. Keeping an eye out for any sale on Grandia II. Tried out Hollow Knight but I didn't end up liking the game.

Mutant Mudds Deluxe

I bought the Wolfenstein DLC (Old Blood I think it's called) and have played it for a few hours.

I'm not loving it since it starts with a lot of forced stealth sections that are very easy, but boring and slow. It still looks OK, but it's not as good looking as my memory of it (not good looking enough to justify the 30gb+ install size, that's for sure).

Unrelated to the sale, but I also started playing AC: Rogue. All I can say is... Yup, this sure is AC:4. I'm not sure I'm going to continue with it since it just seems like such a carbon copy and I played a LOT of AC:4 already. I like the ice-bergs and the colder setting, but I don't really feel like doing the exact same progression all over again (hunting, boat upgrades, whaling, etc.)

I bought and finished What Remains Of Edith Finch and it was really great. Game is structured around little short stories and what they tell and especially how they are presentented visual- and gamedesign wise is so creative and fresh. The Lewis story in particular impressed me the most.
One of my favorite games of the year so far.

Also bought and started The Witcher 3 GOTY (4 hours in) and Nex Machina.
First Witcher impressions are good even though I'm usually not the biggest fan of western open world RPGs. But this one manages to grab me so far. English voice of Geralt is trash though. Might switch the language later.

Nex Machina is the high quality and particle/voxel orgasm you expect from Housemarque after Resogun.

Also got Virginia and will try that one out later. Very curious about this after the quite polarizing impressions.

Wait, people play their steam sale hauls?

Anyway, I only bought Dark Souls III and Shadow of Mordor. I plan to play DSIII right after I'm finished with DSII. Mordor though, maybe later when everyone else is playing Mordor 2.

Soundboxing: Super fun and work up a good sweat when I play it

Endless Legend expansions: It's Endless Legend, frustrating (because I suck) and fun

Audioshield: Haven't had a chance to try it yet. I presume, based on my enjoyment of Soundboxing, i'll enjoy it.

Scanner Sombre (in vr): Only played a brief amount, but it was a really good method of seeing the world and I love the idea of it.

I almost bought What Remains of Edith Finch, the price point is bit too high for me still. You would have convinced me to get it, if you didn't mock Bafta nominated acting perfomance in the same post! Can't trust your judgement anymore.

I did buy the Criminal Past DLC to Deus Ex: MD and Hollow Knight. Already installed the DLC but haven't got around to playing it yet. I'll probably buy something more next month when I get more money.

Truly loved the soundtrack of Virginia, in my top 3 soundtracks last year. Game itself left me a bit cold, but it was interesting.

Have enough of a backlog that I didn't feel like buying much...but I did pick up Tyranny on sale.

Been wanting to play it for a while, but it released in the crowded month of October last year. Really enjoying the game so far, and more unique from Obsidian vs. Pillars of Eternity.

Also picked up Endless Legend's Tempest expansion, only DLC I don't own for it.

Nice haul! Based on those games, you may want to have a look at Pillars of Eternity, Icewind Dale, and Divinity Original Sin if you haven't already.

Thanks! I'm going through DAO first and I'm loving it so far. As to your suggestions, I have Divinity Original Sin on the PS4, and am going to get Pillars of Eternity on the PS4 if the port is good, as my current laptop can't handle it. If I enjoy BG I & II will look into Ice Wind Dale during a later sale.

I ended up buying $20 worth of games:

The Typing of the Dead Overkill - $5
Game Dev Tycoon - $4
Hyperdevotion Noire - $3
Azure Striker Gunvolt - $4
Mighty Gunvolt - $1
Transistor - $3

I've been waiting awhile for Game Dev Tycoon to go on sale. These should hold me over until the next Steam sale.

Brigador: The slow movement of the early mechs and the controller is blah to me. Luckily i got it on the cheap.
Crypt of the Necrodancer: Haven't played yet
Dark Souls III: Haven't played yet. But it's Dark Souls
Evoland 2: Haven't played yet.
Hollow Knight: Seems cool so far.
Redout: 2 races, but really fun. great sense of speed. i suck at these types of games.
Salt & Sanctuary: I was a big Dishwasher fan, and I love Dark Souls. Pretty good so far, I know I'm going to love this one.
The Talos Principle: Haven't played yet .

- Massive Chalice: X-COM clone from Double Fine. I like it's simplicity and sense of humor, X-COM is too complicated for me.
- Faerie Solitaire: Solitaire is called "Paciência" (Patience) here in Brazil. I used to say nobody ever had the patience to teach me how to play Paciência. Well, this game just taught me! Items, quests, achievements and even a story give this simple game a sense of progression.

pefR7bh.png

- Sanctuary RPG Black Edition: A rogue-like with ASCII art. Combat is turn-based and surprisingly deep, you use combos and have to move around when an enemy gets too close.
- Paper Sorcerer: Dungeon crawler with awesome style. It's fun, challenging and has great atmosphere.

Wolfenstein The New Order - Very good so far. But I hate that I have to pick up every single clip of ammo. I got The Old Blood as well.

Sonic Lost World - Eh. For $7.50 I might as well keep it and play it every now and then.

Arma III - Picked this up since a few of my friends got it, we don't really know what we're doing but the laughs just don't stop.

Bought quite a bit but only been playing Witcher 3, which is amazing. Was holding off on buying it until I got something that can run it at a steady 60 FPS at 3440x1440, and now that I can lawd is it a beautiful game.

Both great games but yeah, that bugged the shit out of me too, hopefully it's fixed in the next game.

Bought The Silver Case and Dark Souls III as well.

Still working on DS2 (SotFS) so I don't think I'll be moving on to DS3 for now, I'd burn myself out probably (Finished DS1 for the first time right after starting DSII so now I've been focusing on Dark Souls for 100+ hours). I also didn't get the Season Pass yet, so that's another incentive to wait (no time for NG+).

Dug my teeth a bit into Killer Is Dead. Lovely, lovely style and music but the gameplay feels really rather obtuse (I'm not mentioning the godawful camera) and repetitive (can you really do no combos other than by mashing X)?

Picked up Infinite Warfare at 50% off since I'm a sucker for COD campaigns but didn't want to pay full price.

Did a first playthrough this weekend and I have to agree with some posters here - it might be the best COD campaign of all time, and is many ways on par or better than Titanfall 2's campaign. Fantastic visual design, varied weapons, great "feel" to the shooting and a well done sci-fi setting.

If they had launched it 2 years apart from BLOPS 3 I think it would have been more well received.

Also picked up Dishonored 2 and started a High Chaos run with Emily. Absolutely loving it so far and performance is quite good on my 1080.

Fallout 4, Killing Floor 2 and Arma 3 DLC just yesterday.
To be fair, this is all stuff I've already played before on free weekends, so I know I will enjoy them, I didn't even uninstall FO4 since the free weekend while waiting for this sale.

I will be buying more these days.

Played about one hour. Its great, seems like a massive step up from the first two in terms of scope and visuals.

Ori and the Blind Forest DE
Slept on this for ages, seeing the new one announced at E3 I figured I should play it at some point. Digging it so far, very pretty.

I've been playing these with my girlfriend so not put alot of time into them.

What Remains of Edith Finch
Fantastic game, wish it was slightly less linear so I could explore the environments more.

Day of Infamy
I enjoyed Insurgency, and like Day of Defeat but this didn't do anything for me. Shame as I was looking for a cool new WW2 shooter. I refunded this game.

I also wanted The Forest but not sure if i'll like it, Halo Wars but the discount isn't much and Night in the Woods which seems like the only game not in the steam sale!!
