Street Fighter V |OTVIIII| New Generation - Fighting Game Is Something So Great

Seeing people take to the bomb challenge got me thinking that Capcom should build neat challenges like it and the Akuma challenge right into the game. I sent a tweet out to Damon, and Harrison to share the thought.
Of course, I'm sure someone internally must have had this idea already. I can't imagine no one thought about this after the Akuma challenge.

It would be neat. Especially if it rewarded Fight Money and stuff like Titles.

Dude makes impressive Fighting game related art.

....

Tomorrow I will finally get to gold ranked.

He drew this?

I remember seeing it in the actual Overwatch game. Pretty impressive to make it in something so high profile.

Alex is mid tier. The people that play him just gotta get good.
no kappa

get out.

Why is alex considered low tier? I started playing him not to long ago and enjoying him win or lose just want to know.

slow buttons, no oki, no reversals, meh damage, pretty bad/inconsistent anti airs, incredibly momentum based, needs to take risks to get in/do anything.

His oki is very simple compared to other characters of his type. His anti-airs are pretty lackluster. His v-skill is pretty lame and his v-trigger isn't incredibly strong. Compared to any of the other grappler type characters he doesn't have much going for him.

His v-trigger parries (and low two bar activation requirement) and f.HP mixups are practically his only saving graces. I've really warmed up to his V-Trigger over time. He doesn't have much, but at least it's not a teleport.
If Alex is so trash why are Gunfight and Donpachi so unstoppable? Don't hate the character, hate your skills
Guys like FAB, Donpachi, Bonchan and Gunfight are amazing precisely because they will transmute Tin into Gold. Not everyone can do that and it shouldn't have to be a struggle just to keep up with the shadow of other characters and players.

KitasenjuDJ put in work with Deejay, didn't mean he wasn't a terrible character. Same with Q and Kuroda or Infiltration and SFV Juri. Having success with a character doesn't mean the character isn't bad.

Was trying to think about 3S specialists, but I couldn't recall at the time I wrote the post. YSB and Genki also do amazing work with Hugo and Alex, but we still know both those characters could use SIGNIFICANT buffing. On the Vampire Savior side no one in their right mind could argue that Anakaris is fine just because MightyMar is a divinely touched.

For sure.

I saw an amazing pc mod for the entire main menu and everything, looked great and made me sad for what we actually ended up getting lol

Something like this pls

That color scheme is pretty bland, and having giant character art take up 60% of the space is kinda a waste, but the overall idea is not bad. Some of the empty space could be used for a current and upcoming events in SFV/FGC, and you'd still have something that is a lot clearer and better laid out than the current mess of a main menu.

I'd like something a bit between the above mockup and this mockup:

Can't wait to see Menat... 19th now hope we get a teaser soon.
For some reason the next Marvel trailer is coming out the day before Gamescom. It's possible Capcom may be planning to dedicate GC entirely to SF on the fighter side. There's Menat, whatever those new packages on Steam are, the FM bonus, the new costumes, and of course the Anniversary Collection to announce.

Because characters like Alex and Juri actually have tools that prevents them from being overall shit like their V-Trigger, Jab AA or throw loops.

While you have a character like Nash with the only thing that prevents him being the worse is he has a fireball. Which a lot of characters have answers to.

I'd be fine with no Menat this month if the Anniversary Collection is announced at GC next week.

Though I really want Menat.

God I get so salty when I lose to characters like Chun-li or Nash.

Edit - ugh, back down under 5k, time to stop playing....Lol who am I kidding, time to take the express elevator into silver

Man, I would say I'm not bad at Street Fighter 5. I've got like 72% wins of more than 1000 casual matches and can compete with gold rank players. But i feel uncomfortable when playing ranked matches and doing more mistakes because of the feelings, lol.

Currently at 2500LP and I'm "confident" I could reach at least gold rank. But the andrenaline and stress holding me back.

Also funny how some people learn to execute the craziest Combos, but do lack in the fundamentals. I'm playing with Ryu and love to dive into the mind of the other player and trying to beat them with timing and precise fundamentals.

One or the other, at least. Should be both, though. Menat needs to drop soon so she can get out of the way of Marvel and so Zeku can come out before November.

And something special needs to come out for the 30th fucking anniversary of Street Fighter. It should be both.

Marvel

could never

Oh yeah, it should absolutely be both, but Capcom ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The only way to shed the nerves of playing ranked is to play more ranked. It'll fade with practice.

If you're winning that much you need to gain some LP. You're not going to learn as much fighting people below your actual skill level.

???

I'm kinda tired of having to thumbs up my opponent to let them know I'm ready after every tournament game, or tell them to go to character select if they're player 1. It's not a meme; it's something every single person who goes to locals/majors needs to deal with, and it'd be a more efficient use of everyone's time if the option was in there.

I certainly would personally care more for that than more FM or trying characters for free.
you have to understand you are speaking from a minority's perspective though.

lol I know...I'll be officially a part of E-sports with my first tourney. It still isn't the majority of SFV owners tho.

The next big update is probably much more focused on having good casual audience word of mouth

Also anyone on??? CFN eatdamuffins

Esports is probably making Capcom more money than the majority of SFV owners, tho. The idea that the next update, even if it hits every single bullet point on the Full Featured AAA Fighting Game Checklist, is going to bring in an influx of casual players doesn't seemed to be rooted in reality.

For example, No Man's Sky has had three major updates over the past year that have just about fulfilled their launch promises (except for the alien dinosaurs), but nobody is going back to play that shit because the damage is done. Same for SFV. Arcade mode ain't bringing in the IGN crowd. I'll be surprised if the game even reaches the 2 million sales expectation after that update. Going full esports makes more sense at this point.

Is there any way to make an alt on ps4 without needing to pay for ps+ again? I'm trying to learn some secondary chars but don't have any confidence in them so I want to start with lower player skill levels to see how I do.

If the account that has a PS+ subscription has made that PS4 their main PS4 (which you really should do) then all other accounts who use the PS4 can play online but they won't get cloud save storage.
