I didn't see it posted elsewhere so here you have it.

The 'PS3' behind the actual glass is a fake or decoy of you will. A mere shell.
Here's where the real PS3 is located and well ventilated apparently.

Some blurry pictures by Adent @ IGN.

So what does this mean to me, as a consumer?

How do I benefit from this?

What is reality?

That's so you bastards can't shatter the plastic with a GameStop magazine rack and steal it. It's a trap!

I thought this topic was gonna be something about how the PlayStation 3 kiosk is just a decoy to get you to get to Best Buy to play the Wii.

The end result is that a PS3 in a kiosk will appear to be cool to the touch and silent. The reality of the situation may be different.

Look at the red light. If you move the entire kiosk you risk exposing the PS3's nuclear core.

Yes. Actually, I was going to make a bad Killzone 2 E3 2005 joke, but I couldn't think of the right way to phrase it. Just for me, though, imagine I had.

and this is a surprise because ?!?

The demo kiosk suppose to run 12 hours straight every day, for the next several months. And with the shortage, the stores don't have luxuries for spares.

*sighs* sometimes people are so desperate for dirty laundry, they're making big deal of little shit like this

What???

You mean it's normal for kiosks to display a decoy console in clear view, but have a real console hidden in the kiosk itself?

We're not making a big deal of this. I actually think it's pretty clever cause it helps prevent theft, and if the PS3 ever crashes or lock up, at least the customers won't have to see the store employees taking it out of the glass case to reboot it.

I don't know what normal, I don't bump into games kiosk all the time.

But it's called common sense, you have a new machine that's suppose to run 12 hours straight and replacements are scarce, so what do you do? of course you take care of the goddamn machine

Well if PS3 overheats and blows up when you take it home, only a matter of time before Sony is forced to deal with reality

Still doesn't explain why there's a decoy.

This is news because it's not normal for kiosks to have decoys

It's also normal for kiosks to overheat often, and if this is some attempt to get past that... more power to them.
