There could be tons of choices from Metallica: Master of Puppets, Battery, Sanitarium, Blackened, Moth into flame, Unforgiven, Wherever I may roam and so on and so on. The band is THE definition of cool intros.

No Creeping Death? Also, Whiplash.

Definitely have to go with Cherub Rock by the Smashing Pumpkins, such a mega huge build up that leads directly into a rad fucking riff

Muse - Plug In Baby
Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know

Ahh a thread about Joe Walsh, nice.

I'll throw in long cool woman by the hollies. Kills me they only used that intro once.

Seeing as Metal-GAF isn't represented here, allow me to point out the most obvious:

Ye Entrancemperium by Emperor

Flowing directly from the intro preceding it, the intro riff of this song grabs you by the throat, mops the floor with you and beats you immediately into submission. One of the all-time greatest metal masterpieces and I daresay, one of the best riffs ever. There's absolutely zero slack and general tomfoolery present.

Helter Skelter - The Beatles

A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles

Rainbow in the Dark - Dio

Since You Been Gone - Rainbow

The Boys are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy

Layla - Derek and the Dominos

Don't You Forget About Me - Simple Minds (Freeze frame!)

Ain't Talkin' Bout Love - Van Halen

Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper (guilty pleasure of mine)

Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Öyster Cult

Under Pressure - Queen

Spread Your Wings - Queen

I love that there's only one YouTube comment and it's just the dude saying "The die is cast..." and there's only one like.

Edit: Also Ronald Bruner, Jr. - True Story
oh yeah and Nancy Sinatra - You Only Live Twice
