PS4 : "number of developers joining has increased from 126 to 505" since Feb 2013

Maybe there was a misunderstanding, all the 126 developers left, only 505 remained. XD

My only hope is that they don't screw up the store on the PS4, having all these indie studios isn't going to help anyone if people can't find, buy, and download their games easily and without hassle. If they end up using the current PS4 store or something like it I think it would still be a bit of a pain to find them.

Uh guys... before you soil your panties...
Some developers like Platinum have already made remarks about these announcements.

It doesn't mean 505 studios are actually making games or planning on making games for the PS4.
It just means that they are open to making games on PS4.
It's a matter of... feelings towards the console, not any actual plans.

And then Nintendo fanboys get blamed for blind, ignorant love.

And? Everyone knows it.
But it's still a good sign, so of course people can be happy about this news.

If the PS4 doesn't fail in terms of sales, then many/most of these will probably develop games for it.

Yes!! Soo glad this is happening. Hopefully Amnesia day and date with PC. Hotline Miami 2 day and date with PC. The list goes on and on. Bonitoooo!!

Legitimate question: What exactly is seperating Sony and Nintendo when it comes to indies? They have most of the same policies?

Nintendo requires you to have at least one game released on another platform, and I don't believe Sony has the same requirement.

I wonder if Nintendo is taking notes.

Oh wait, they don't care what MS and Sony is doing.

Great for ps4, but Nintendo, theyre not doing bad...

"Since then it appears to have been a hit with small developers as more than 1,000 have registered their interest in developing games for Wii U, according to Nintendo President Satoru Iwata who was addressing analysts at the E3 analyst briefing."

Sony has been focusing too much on Indies.

They need to forge better alliances with high profile developers.

Most of the innovation in this gen will come from the indies. Most of the AAA companies are just looking to pad their profits and won't take too many risks.

Look at CoD: Ghosts and BF4 lol.

hmm, maybe he was talking about customers and someone translated it badly.

i was one of the people that signed up as well ;P

Indie games will always live on PC, Sony only just started allowing them over
While there were hurdles in terms of the cost of the devkit, quality of the SDK, and complexity of the submission process that they've been removing over time, self-published titles were present on PSN since at least 2009 (Burn Zombie Burn).

Sony shows the way and hopefully (for their own good) Microsoft follows. The publisher requirement for indies is stupid.

I think it would be a very safe assumption that the vast majority of that 500 intends or is currently developing at least one game for PlayStation 3, Vita or 4.

Honestly, one can make an argument of success through profit. While more PS4's will be out there, maybe MS ends up making more money with their controlled policies. Who knows? All this could be an acceptable loss to MS considering they plan on making more net profit from each individual consumer, so they don't need as many and still make more money than they did before. Whereas before, it was possible that MS was possibly losing money on an individual consumer especially if that consumer pirated or bought used games all the time.

But seriously let's assume it takes 3 years to make a game and this next gen is 6 years long.
That's on average 168 games a year or 3.2 a week. There will be over 1000 games in the library when it's done. Is this going to be PS2 version 2?
