CoD: Ghosts MP reveal 14 Aug

Black Ops had the infamous FAMAS but I've never bought into this "only one gun is good" stuff.

I used to kick ass with the MAC-11 which does not stand out in any category. The Uzi had terrible iron sights and recoil and I used to get tons of kills with it, and I could snipe with the Skorpion too.

Of course the user base will gravitate to the gun that's easist to get kills with but I think it's far more interesting and challenging to play with a gun that's not the best.

Totally. FAL for the win.
I clearly haven't played much COD since MW2...

Regarding today's event for Ghosts. My biggest hope is dedicated servers. I'll be surprised if we don't finally get them.

MW3 you either used MP7 or PP90 or w/e it was. No need for anything else.

I've seen many people claim the ACR and Type 95 were overpowered. People always claim some guns are overpowered. I just don't have much trouble succeeding with many of them.

The one thing in MW3 that was overpowered to me was the Assassin perk. IMO it's quite possibly the most overpowered perk in the history of COD.

ACR was nothing special for an AR and T95 was broken because of lag comp.

MP7 and PP90 outclassed everything else after the shotgun nerf.

And of course you can succeed with other weapons. It's just significantly easier with certain ones.

Is it just me, or is there a serious lack of interest in this game this year. Im sure the Multi reveal thread for BLOPS 2 was upward of 30 pages at this point.

Definitely a lack of interest from me. And I bought every single CoD game since 1, apart from the DS versions.

This though, I have next to 0 interest in, but I also have low interest in all FPS's at the moment and it's the first time it has kicked in, whereas it kicked in a long time ago with friends.

I'm not going to miss queuing up at Asda's at 12 in the morning, that's for sure.

If you're good, you can do well with any of the guns.

I've pumped hundreds and hundreds of hours into cod over the years and the only op gun I ever came across was the repeater shotty from MW2.

Ah yeah, I remember unlocking gold Model 1887. It was a beast (though the way shotguns are in the game I always had a pistol and that perk to switch weapons quickly on the side in case first shot didn't kill)

I know everyone hates on MW3, but I thought its multiplayer maps were far more interesting than those in BO2. Hopefully Infinity Ward will continue to produce the goods in that respect, as team deathmatch is all I really do in COD games. Otherwise, it would be nice for the Pick Ten system to be preserved, the Portable Radar to return (that grenade thing was beyond useless) and the maps made bigger so you aren't constantly respawning right down an opponent's sights. There were at least three maps in BO2 I absolutely hated because of that. A ruined city map like Bakaara, Cracked or Havana would be great, mixing long sightlines with close combat in alleyways, and a big snowy map like Array is always welcome in my eyes.

Anyone else getting the Wii U version btw?

EDIT: Oh, and obviously a nerf on shotgun and sniper rifle auto-aim would be great, as in my view they should be specialist skill weapons rather than one-hit kill spam machines, but I've long since given up hope of that ever happening as every troll in the userbase would go into uproar.

how long now? its almost the 15th in aus >.<

Also yes, there is a sudden disinterest, but i think thats due to a number of factors.

1. Only campaign footage shown
2. Battlfield 4 mp was pretty impressive
3. Next gen consoles

That's because treyarch hype their games with little teases. They even got FPSRussia to do a video with one of those drones. But they had a vague picture revealed every week on their website to generate intrigue.

Black Ops 1 definitely had the most of that stuff though. All kinds of details hidden in single frames of teaser videos. Plus they had the whole zombies thing going on too since people got autistically interested in the lore of that.

Well, they always show MP this 'late' and don't forget MW3 also went against BF3 footage which people went ape shit over so only next-gen consoles is the unique issue here.

I think the decline is upon us, it'll be a mega-bucket for years yet, but I can see plenty of player fatigue setting in, especially amongst some of the YouTube 'stars'.

Can't wait. Guess the special editions will be available for pre-order after this? Might go for that hardened edition depending on price.

I've bought both BOII & MW3 Hardened Editions and I can tell you, I wont buy another one.

I'd much rather now know what is actually going to be in a map pack before I buy it.

Has Activision said if those of us going digital next gen will get the Free Fall map? I would hope they would give a 2 week grace period for those buying it off XBL to still get the pre-order map.

I only got the Hardened Edition for BO1 because it came with the 4 zombies maps from WaW that you could play with BO2 weapons. Seemed like a real pointless buy now.

Apparently Activision is aware not a whole lot of people have pre ordered, which they say is down to people not knowing which console to get it on. It would help if Infinity Ward gave some indication of what the differences between current and next gen versions will be.

With BF4 we know the current gen versions won't run at 60fps or get 64 players. What amazes me is people will still buy BF4 for their 360s etc knowing this.

There is indeed a lack of interest. A lot of COD fans are finally getting tired. Some are looking to other franchises (like Battlefield). But if they're anything like my friends, their interest will be forced to come back due to lack of local multiplayer/splitscreen options in all the other alternatives.

Seriously, all of them were ready to give Battlefield 4 a chance, and even went (like many people on negaof) "Okay, COD has no excuse to look this bad, Battlefield 4 runs at 60fps as well," until later realizing that the game is PC-centric and the last game didn't have splitscreen options so this one 99.99% won't either. And due to that reason, COD does get a pass for its graphical fidelity.

Black Ops 2 was horrible, as was MW3.

It seems like COD games get worse with each iteration.

MW2 and Black Ops were pretty good in my eyes, at least in terms of MP.

I enjoyed the MP in COD4 and BO the most of the series. I never got BO2 because I was just sick and tired of the formula after MW3 (I did rent BO2 to beat the campaign though).

I'm actually tangentially interested in Ghosts, but today's reveal will have to do a lot to convince me to get the game. Battlefield 4 does look more interesting than Ghosts from a MP perspective, although I've always been a fan of the COD campaigns.

I never really got into the MP aspect of COD 4 or WAW. I started to be addicted to this game online when MW 2 came out. Looking back MW 2 was a broken mess though.

Personally I have to go with BO as my favorite even though the hit detection was awful. Beside the FAMAS the game was balanced. I also loved the levels as well.

I like BO2 better than MW 3 but the lag in BO2 is just awful for me. Once and a while I have a game were I dominate and I seem get the jump on everybody but 80% I am always half a second behind someone. I literary hear 4-5 shots on my screen then whet I die I have full ammo. Happens all the freaking time.

Even at the I am looking forward to see what Ghosts has to offer.

Anyone hoping for something entirely new today are just setting themselves up for disappointment. When you sell over 10 million copies of a game annually you don't rewrite the foundation of that game. You just iterate on it.

I don't believe for a second that the vast majority of COD players would ever migrate over to BF4. The games play so differently they're just not that interchangeable. People don't play COD for eye candy. The games look good enough. BF is also just as old as COD, so it's not like people don't know what it's about. It's not the new kid on the block. It's a much slower game (60fps or not), and I don't think it will ever have as broad an appeal as COD.

If I were to guess the most likely candidate for such a true COD player migration, my first guess would be Titanfall. It's made by the very people who created this entire COD universe as we know it today. It appears to have very similar gunplay, but with the Titan gameplay layered over the top. I think it could be a huge franchise this gen. Should be interesting to watch how it plays out.

If Infinity Ward are smart they'll have realised they can't hope to compete with BF4 as a "realistic shooter" and so will make Ghosts more arcade/rpg like.

People won't migrate from COD to another game in the short term, but they've been playing it safe for 7 years and IMO they've hit the ceiling of userbase, it will only drop from here. I agree BF is different, but it has more an more of what COD had: customisable loadouts (including weapon camos and character camos), perks for your character and vehicle perks, more smaller game modes with smaller maps. What it doesn't have? Killstreaks and tiny ray gun recoil, and even then some of the vehicles play like a controllable killstreak.

Not that I don't like COD, I do, but from BO, MW3, BO2, I've played each game less and less; BO2 for just 2 weeks before ditching it.

Lol, Titanfall is all Microsoft hype, most casual gamers don't care about who develops COD more than the fact that the game is COD.

CoD has never been about realism, it's always been about fast, fun gameplay. I see no reason for them to change now. Personally I find BF very slow and boring, even if it does look amazing.

You're right they've been playing it safe since MW2, but like I said, they'd be fools not to when it's selling that well. But I agree, the sales have peaked. They're going to begin declining this year.

I didn't suggest people would buy Titanfall because former Infinity Ward employees made it. I suggested because that team is so talented the game is going to be a huge success, and it's similar enough to COD that I believe it's going to steal a great chunk of hype from COD going forward.

If you believe Titanfall hype is somehow explained by "lol Microsoft" I don't know what to tell you. The journalists that played the game voted it E3 Game of the Show. The people who played it, loved it. Make of that whatever you wish.

I don't really know why, but I'm way more excited about this than BF. (Probably gonna pick up BF too) I had pretty good times with MW2, so I'm looking forward to playing this on PS4.

Anyone here think that it would be possible to merge the console community with cross-platform play?

I just hope the netcode is decent, you can overcome peoples cheap play styles through the rock/paper/scissor nature of the game, but if the fundamentals of the game are broken no amount of balancing/skill will help you.

It's the one thing they never talk about and is impossible to know until the game is out.
