Nice of him to get one. He been hyping the movie like crazy on instagram

What is the after credit scene if there is one?

Unless they changed it from the time I saw it:

Their detention teacher goes 'wait, where's Tommy Oliver?', zoom in an empty desk. Cut to a locker hallway where a locker door gets blown off.

The locker door being blown off is actually in one of the tv spots

I haven't seen it but I have read that it's
the introduction of tommy Oliver. Apparently he shows us in class and they call out his name, and you see the actor

That said, the review suggests they're dialing back the "fixation" on martial arts, which is exactly the wrong thing to do with a Power Rangers movie.
I'm kind of surprised there aren't MMA fighters or something in the group.
Again, those open face helmets are so dumb looking. Just take the damn helmets off if you wanna show their faces.
Agreed.

It's like they're worried the audience struggles with object permanence. "Now who's in that pink suit, and what happened to that girl from before who was wearing it?"

Makes sense they give Tommy a cameo at the end. I assume the locker door is blown off because Rita takes him.

Ooooh you saw it already? Spoil me:

Does Rita ever end up in her iconic original with outfit? With the big grey hair and the brown dress?

Any mention of Finster, Baboo or Scorpina?

I'm not even sure if I would call that initial Hollywood Reporter "good" or "positive".

The general tone of these reviews seems to be "This film is uneven, but not as terrible as you think it is going to be."

Also is the youth center in it any reference to it at all?

Is Erine referenced? Are any other former actors of the show make cameos?

I haven't seen it yet but regarding cameos, we have a confirmed yes/no on this:
Jason David Frank and Amy Jo Johnson are the only two ranger cameos, per the production notes on the Lionsgate press website

No to all of those

As I said earlier it's exactly what you think it's going to be as a positive and a negative. That being said:

Amy Jo Johnson also shows up but her and JDF cameo are at the same time. You can't miss it as they're dead center in the frame.

So it's exactly what the entire production has been aiming for, teenage action film fair - Divergent/Hunger Games/Maze Runner - with Power Rangers motifs layed over top of it.

Fair enough. I was going to give it a shot regardless.

That's pretty much what I expected from day 1. None of the reviews, positive or negative, surprise me. If this is at least a C+ movie then it will have met my expectations. This seems like one of those.

I'm still going to see it. Sometimes the middling maze runner bullshit is just the kind of cheese I'm in the mood for. I've been known to like a guilty pleasure movie from time to time.

If it gets a sequel, they should get the team behind Kong to do it. That's a movie that knew how to have fun.

Recently there was a commercial for this showing a scene where they yell at Billy for making the Megazord dance, hopefully the movie doesn't spend an inordinate amount of time making the black guy the stereotypical comic relief.

That bothered me a little. I'd easily expect Zack to pull something like that, but Billy? Does hip hop kido have to follow the black guy, or what? Can't Zack be Zack and Billy be Billy? What's the point of avoiding the stereotyped ranger colors if they're just going to turn Billy into Zack because he's black? Leave the dancing to Zack!

But I havent brought it up before now because I havent seen the movie and without knowing the context of the character or the scene, I really can't form a solid opinion about it yet. That was my initial reaction, though.

Well it seems they made Billy less of a stereotypical 80s/90s nerd and more of a modern nerd. Smart kid interested in different shit. Now the whole bit about him dancing, idk, but hopefully Zack is still comedy

I'm genuinely excited for this.

I was gonna love it even if it was terrible. The fact that it's not is just icing on the cake.

It was also clear from the trailers what the movie was going to be in terms of acts.

If Power Rangers ends up being better than Justice League and Wonder Woman, I'm giving up on the DCEU completely.

There's a scene in which Kimberly Hart (Naomi Scott), a.k.a. ”the Pink Ranger," admits that she distributed revenge porn to humiliate a classmate, and now she feels she's an awful person. Not long after this, there's campy dialogue about ”stopping Rita Repulsa from getting to the Krispy Kreme.
"
Uproxx Review

Kimberley's character arc. Wut?

That sounds... really bad. Like, really bad.
You cant just...go from...to...then...???

Wait Jason jerks off a bull? What the hell?

Okay so this has to be a joke review then right? I'm not buying it anymore. This movie can't seriously be
"Kimberly regrets revenge porn before Krispy Kreme and Jason jerks off an animal."
That's like, 4chan's Power Rangers.

Everything about Kim storyline is weird.

Like I guess I can get that being the catalyst for it. But it just seems I dunno... dark for a movie like this.

I mean.. I don't know if it's truly that "jumpy" like the review says, I feel like if it was a huge issue it would be mentioned more.

Wow at that 2nd paragraph!

Also, it takes them that long for them to wear the suits??? Holy shit, this reminds me of Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.

the last 30 minutes is where all the money was spent and it shows. I'd honestly say the amount of screen time the suits are on screen is about the same as the original movie from the 90s

In the original movie
they wore the suits more often though, for this movie to have it at the last 30 minutes is kinda jarring even for an origin story.

Lol at some of these RT reviews. These people writing them have to be in their late 50's or something. One person wrote "how can you take a villain seriously when their name is rita repulsa"

Dude have you ever seen the original series? They arent gonna change the name just so you can take it more seriously.

I find most film reviewers to be out of touch, tbh

Not really. There's the one fight in the beginning and the fight at the end. There's more fights overall, but they aren't in costume or using the cheap ninja suits.

In a 2 hour running time, the first fight is 15 minutes and then they lose their powers. The last fight is around 20 minutes tops.

Yeah, I forgot about that, lol. Still though, there seems to be more action in that one than this current movie.

Like I said earlier, I doubt this is an amazing movie or anything. But I think it really can't win either way.

One of the negative reviews said the movie is ashamed of its source material. The next says they can't take the movie seriously because the villain's name is Rita Repulsa.

One of the new negative reviews states, "Hope you take your Zords with a large helping of cheese."

I mean... I do. That sounds good to me. Haha.

Revenge porn? Bull jerking? 92 minutes until some pay off?

I'm worried!
