Pretty sweet character design! I'm really digging the purple light that emits from her goggles.
I feel like she's not as special if there's multiple.

Octo girl artwork looks great indeed.
"We had previously discovered this creature, but now we know it's name - 'Takozonesu'. Similar to the Inklings, she was the ability to fight by transforming between octopus and human forms and is one of the elite soldiers in the Octarian Army. They seem to be strong enemies who can effectively use the shot guns and bomb weapons."
The elite octopus soldier girls with rival skills. Interesting.
I really hope this game has at least a few unique modes. This is looking like one of the most invigorating TPS online shooters I've ever seen but the lack of options is going to really bum me out of there's just 4v4 and 1v1 (which is what I'm assuming the duel mode will be)/
Anyway since nobody else offered a mode I was thinking of a Capture the Flag mode whereby the flag is actually a giant sprinkler that increases its range the longer it is held. This way the game is still about claiming territory but the "flag" is going to be so overpowered that the players will all want it.

So the Octogirl enemies are called Octolings, I dig it. From the Tumblr:

Really? I feel the opposite way. To me, if she was just a boss I would find her design a bit underwhelming, but as a generic enemy their design is anything but generic. Really looking forward to fighting them.

also they should be very careful not to mess up the Lore of a new IP making it too different from Japanese and English translations so avoiding gender is silly at this point keep the story straight

these guys should have just been the only real baddies

Did they confirm that it's only the females that can transform full stop or just that the transforming ones in this game are only female? I'm hoping for some male Octolings too in a sequel.
Eh, the goggles are pretty evil-looking to me. And from what I've heard of the story it has always seemed like the Octarians' motives aren't necessarily evil. I think making them basically two equal races warring is much more interesting than just cute blob things being the villains.

this being Nintendo I can see the Octos not being truly bad and just one side of a warring world as you pointed out tho

Maybe, but I like the idea of the Splatoon games being the Inklings' sport while a war is going on underground. Plus, I reckon they'll be playable in a sequel.

Do you mean not having a female pronoun in the last two posts? To me it's pretty naturally worded as they were talking about multiple (female) enemies. I mean I could be wrong, but I don't think they're avoiding saying that, it's not like they need to spell it out that they are female - it's pretty obvious. Plus as you said in a previous English post their gender was talked about.

i would say is pretty much set in stone.
The game pays a huge emphasis in clothing and accessories for the playable characters. At minimum we should get support to unlock outfit or clothing parts depending of which Amiibo character is tagged. For example, tagging the Link Amiibo lets the Inkling use the Hero's Cloths or accessories related to the Link character or Zelda series.
