Final Fantasy XV May 24 update adds survey to title screen regarding future updates

Okay, it's certainly a bit disappointing that so much of that survey is "story content."

They can stop with that nonsense. Add features and gameplay content to the game but adding "story content" for stuff that should have been there at launch -- half a year later -- is just silly.

Funny though that Tabata said "It is supposed to be from Noctis eyes!!" and now this. Twitter is exploding and even the hardcore FFXV are angry lol

I imagine they can't fit Tenebrae into the story anymore without it being some sort of flashback episode, and it can't involve Noctis and co. because now they canonically never visit the city proper.
So what would the "fall of Tenebrae" even be, since it seemingly can't actually involve any of the game's named or major characters.

All those assets created, according to the trailers, and it's basically useless now because the party was, presumably, meant to visit before the place is ruined, but that's been made chronologically impossible.

I also theorize that Lunafreya's death was originally meant to happen in the "field of flowers" in Tenebrae we see in a couple cutscenes.
I imagine she was meant to travel with the party for a bit after the Leviathan setpiece, and then be killed in Tenebrae, which is why her death CGI is so obviously visually themed after the flower field, and a handful of cutscenes after her passing feel like weirdly rushed placeholders, missing music and seemingly directed for a lack of voice acting.
But... With Tenebrae cut as an entire location, we ended up with the awkward "Ardyn's decided to stab you now, for funzies" version we got.

They can't do Tenebrae because the content wasn't created for it. All the stuff on that list is content that they already had done. Nothing on that list is built from scratch since post game going gold. It's stuff that they removed that they're slowly adding back in to make the complete experience.

You have an uncle at Square Enix Business Division 2? You sure know a lot about their development on Final Fantasy XV.

I can't blame them for trying, but it certainly seems like the leaks about the game having to be released before end of 2016 were 100% on. They probably spent most of their time just making everything as pieced together as possible to create a full game, then decided to patch in everything later. Wonder how hard Tabata had to beg and plead for corporate to allow him to do that. Since they were handcuffing him so hard on having it released within a certain time, there had to be a tradeoff.

Damage control, certainly. That is basically what the original experience appears to be. But it sure sounds like it was not the original plan.

You're wrong. They did created it, we could see Tenebrae in the Uncovered event trailers.

You saw a target render, could have been all CGI.

They also showed the inside of the power plant and it had way more shit than it ever did in-game running at a higher framerate.

Gotta learn to know bullshots when you see them.

What we saw in the Environment trailer was the same train station at Tenebrae as in the final game, just during the day:

People have been glitching out to explore the Tenebrae area in the background, btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aiy-t0opeKI

But much of Tenebrae has been created. You can see that stuff with godmode. They definitely built many parts of it. It's the same with the Shiva area and that one guy that said that he had to scrap most of it and recreate it, but many of the areas are still in it.

Guess I'm not the one who needs to learn. They clearly showed a model of the city in the Uncovered trailer, probably got cut to meet the game's deadline.

There is stuff sure, but nothing really explorable aside from a few buildings with no interiors. Perhaps they could make islands to warp too but I do not know what they could put on those islands to make the whole thing worthwhile.

Well, after getting back to the game and looking at every choice (and the picture they show with each one helps), I decided to go with Ifrit's betrayal. I think this would help flesh out the story greatly from a lore perspective.
