The #1 complaint from every woman I have heard about porn is "the men are ugly". If the woman is not attracted to the male porn star, it does not matter how great the VR is because she will not be into it. This reviewer is a prime example.

Yeah I remembered it wrong. They all agreed on it but Alanah pointed out that the maker of the porn told her that all women they tested it on react the way she did.
VR Porn can get a bit weird (at first at least) when they get too close to the camera and you're unable to move, regardless of how attractive you find the performer.
This is true for men as well, so not that hard to believe.
Still, as i said that's where the technology is at right now, not much you can do about it, other than try to film around the problem (with very little wiggle room).

As someone who has an Oculus Rift and has tried a bunch of different kinds of "VR Porn" (It's really just 3D 180/360 video) I can say that these are definitely issues for everyone:
I'm sure essays can be written about the failings of the porn industry when it comes to women but certain aspects of 360 Video "VR Porn" are simply universal failings due to technology and pornographers still figuring out how to best utilized the medium.
There is also a severe lack of gay or trans content as well. I believe virtualrealporn is the only content provider out there that I have seen offering to those markets.
Edit: Just to add. My best experience with 360 video is the use of 3D sound. When the models whisper in your ear. You not only hear that but you feel it. Sends shivers through my body. I absolutely love that.

There is 0 interactivity in 360 videos for men and women. Zero. That creates the lack of control for either sex. It's the nature of the beast since you're essentially watching a video.
The size of the models is disproportionate in a lot of videos. Many of them feature models that look larger than the norm. This has a lot to do with cameras being used and positioning. There is a subreddit dedicated to VR Porn that has a long list of these types of issues.
Video quality is a huge issue. We're talking 4k video that still ends up looking less than ideal due to the VR headsets not being able to output higher resolutions to the eye. It definitely takes you out of the experience.

The thing is, the user's POV must remain static or you'd get strong nausea, so you can't really have a lot of bouncing around.
That's why even from a male POV, the user is always just a guy laying back and doing close to nothing but having an erection.
Due to the necessity of having a fixed-camera for VR video, the body of "you" has to be pretty motionless.
"You" usually don't talk either because it is weird to hear someone else's voice coming from inside your head. Sometimes "you" will use your hands to touch the other folks in the video but that is also uncommon because it breaks immersion.
These are limitations of video based VR porn that will not go away. Having women making porn for women isn't going to make it a different experience. Maybe the guys will be better looking.
The one VR porn I've seen is a guy on a bed who is paralyzed or something and 3 chicks come in and start making sex on him. That's gotta be rape, but they had nice butts so whatever.

I don't think that implies there is no market for an incredibly immersive XXX experience that might be $60. In fact I'd need a second headset since my wife and I like to watch together, and I can't conceive of anything else that would drive me to purchase a second one. The video author is not wrong when she says tech jumps forward are driven at least in part by porn.
The problem is, if you wanted to make a really good one you'd have to appeal specifically to people who enjoy a particular type of porn. There isn't really any such thing as a "generic" porn anymore; even the standard "he's here to fix the cable" scenarios are really their own genre now.
I think some kinky people (us included) would be on board no matter what type of porn it was, though. (Within reason, of course)
Indeed. Messed around with it for a bit when I got a Vive. There's definitely some initial wow factor with the 3D effect and intimacy illusion but the issues - weird scaling, being a passive/invisible participant, framerate and video quality causing headaches, overly professional scenes with bad pornstar acting - all seem like they'd be turn offs regardless of sex or preference. Camera movement doesn't work either, even more headache inducing.

It's similar, but the differences are substantial enough that they have to be accounted for (limited camera movement is the big thing because you can make some people sick). Stuff like active vs. passive performers and first vs. third person is more a matter of preference, and the reason we get more passive and more first person is more because the market isn't there yet in terms of size that any real technical limitations.

I think the problem will come down to that men tend be more visual, and women tend to be more mental when it comes to porn.
If there's no emotional connection to the characters, we tend not to be as turned on by it.
It's fun sometimes to just watch some fucking, but I can't see VR porn being a big hit with the ladies, because it's all about the visual.
