Roddick and Clijsters were just inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame. I'm surprised Roddick got in so soon, considering the general bar for getting a HoF nod is 2 slams. I suppose his 13 weeks at world #1 made up for his lone slam title. Clijsters was an easy pick tho

Davis Cup has been interesting so far. Biggest upset so far has been Belgium over Germany. The Zverev brothers disappointed mightily. Canada and Great Britain currently tied 2-2, but Great Britain has a big advantage considering the final match is Edmund v. Shapovalov.

Anyway I feel bad for Shapavolov as he obviously did not mean it but he proper launched it and the umpire will have a nice shiner for a few days.

I am not arguing about the default I totally agree with that, I felt bad for him in the sense that he is only 17 and in such a pressure match a daft mistake from himself has cost his team as well as injuring the umpire.

I mean shapovalov was down two sets to love so the chances of him coming back in that match against a strong opponent was already a tall task so they probably aren't too disappointed
That was very sad...hey,Shapovalov is 17,he will learn I hope,it cost Canada the series,yeah he was probably going to lose anyway but still...umpire is fine but that must of stung...

Defending champs Argentina were ousted in the first round by Italy. Thats probably the second biggest upset in this years davis cup so far.
Major fuckup in the USA-Germany Fed Cup tie today: The USTA played the first stanza of the Deutschlandlied as German national anthem.
Some background: SInce 1952 only the third stanza of the song is used as German national anthem, and the fist stanza is frowned upon and de facto banned because of its nationalistic content and because it was the national anthem in Nazi Germany.

Agreed. Petkovic wasn't even born in Germany so I don't see how it meant so much to her. It's not like she had ancestors in Germany during WWII. Anyways, USA swept the Germans in Fed cup 3-0 so the unintentional psychological warfare worked

Svitolina actually won her first big tournament in Dubai,beating Woz in 2 sets...she changed her attitude a bit,she doesnt look down on herself after each lost point now hehe and she is playing great,she pounces on everything it seems and is very fun to watch...she is in the top 10 now.
