question for anyone who has played Pillars of Eternity :

would it be considered wrong to make my own party on my first playthrough instead of picking the companions i get from the story ?

I wouldn't suggest that for a 1st playthrough, you'd want Durance and co in your party, or it'd get too mechanical... maybe hire 1-2 mercenaries in the latter stages if you felt necessary since you can do that anytime.

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Is that place legit though? I've seen a few posts about it but it looks like another G2A to me.

It's legit insofar as you should get a working key and won't get stiffed if it's region-locked or otherwise invalid. It's not legit in the sense that it's officially affiliated with publishers and receives keys directly from them (instead, they're sourced from physical copies purchased in bulk).

The first Quake is still solid in its single player, I still enjoy it. The mission packs aren't great though. Quake 2 is a bit bland to go back to, but it had coloured lighting so it was something we could look pats at the time. Avoid Quake 2's mission packs at all costs. It should be noted that Quake 1 and Quake 2 are completely unrelated. Quake 3 doesn't have a traditional single player, it's just a variety of bot matches. Quake 4 is a direct sequel to Quake 2, and it's also pretty bland.

Quake 1 definitely gets my recommendation of the lot. The rest are firmly skippable as far as single player content goes.

Thanks

I'll get it next sale if/when I get a job!

A couple of reminders, Rock of Ages 2 has some free Binding of Isaac themed DLC that's going to be removed on the 26th, and the NBA Flag pack for Rocket League is going to be removed on the 28th.

Cuphead is 15$ on GMG but I wanted to play that game with a friend and there is no online coop. So I can't decide should I buy it and play it alone or not. :/

Hmm? I recall them getting good reviews back when they were released.
I mean, they're fine, just not something that gave me any strong impression. They're just kinda there, it's more Quake if you want that with some new enemies and weapons. It's the Quake 2 Mission Packs that are downright bad, I remember one of them was such a slog to go through, there were ceiling mounted turrets everywhere. It was actually absurd.

Hmm

Base clocks for the 8700K are 3.7GHz, not 3.8.

We will see benchmarks but specs are kinda disappointing.
Taking into consideration the extra cores, Coffee Lake still being based on the same architecture as Kaby Lake and Skylake, and still being done on a 14nm process, I don't see how the specs are disappointing, lower clocks were to be expected.
Though, 6 core turbo for the 8700K is said to be 4.3GHz, which is not bad at all (with 4.7GHz being the 1 core turbo).

I'm still at Act 2 at D:OS 2 at 53 hours (though many of them are just me afking). At this rate it will take me a few weeks more to clear it i guess...

On another note, it seems D:OS 2 hit 93k concurrent and seems it's gonna go higher at this rate.

It has also (temporarily) bypassed PUGB on top sellers list again. Why is Everest VR on the fourth spot though?

I'm still torn between kb+mouse and gamepad for D:OS 2. At this point probably going to go with kb+mouse even though there are issues such as the initial response delay to movement commands. You get used to it but it's very annoying.

Hm, Middle-earth: Shadow of War already costs 20$ for retail key in my region. Still not worth it, Elex for the same price is better deal than that riddled with microtransactions junk from WB.

This is just the trend of modern computing, less focus on single core performance, more on having more cores. This likely means we are getting 4 core CPU in all modern laptops soon, not just the huge workstation ones.
Of course, then you have great geniuses like the Forza people who make the Windows 10 version run on just one core. At the same time, imagine if someone did that one a console. That's just not how you are supposed to program complex applications with room for parallelization any more. It's 2017, not 1987.

So...I was really looking forward to the new Star Trek show, especially since Bryan Fuller is at the helm. But anyone else felt it was just ok at best?

Still too early to tell how it'll turn out.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite bombed in UK charts and currently at 25k owners on Steam.
Capcom fighters need a shake up in their division. They’ve fucked up twice. SFV launched like shit and didn’t have enough modes for casual.
Now MvC has a ok amount of modes. But the roster and presentation was enough to push back anyone but the most hardcore. Thank goodness the gameplay is good.

Advise me SteamGAF.

Should I get:

The humble month with the new Tomb raider game, Cuphead, or Near.

Also wild card Divinity 2. Not sure if I'll enjoy, but my favorite rpg is witcher 3.

Yeah, I'm also having the OS and select games on a 256GB SSD and the rest on a normal HDD.
Works pretty great.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy the PC transition. I think it's really remarkable when you do build your PC to whatever you feel you need. It can be a very rewarding experience (especially when you're happy with the price to performance and you've got what you aimed for). And oh god, when you play a major AAA game at 60 fps for the first time, you'll lose your shit. I still haven't lost my appreciation for how good games play and look at that frame rate. I hope I never will.

Welcome to the bestgaf in that case. :p

I currently roll with 2 SSD's and have room to keep everything in there, but before I did the exact same thing with my most played stuff on SSD and the rest on HDD's, worked well enough. Ultimately you should still see improved load times from both drives if you are used to console load times.

Thanks folks. :)

I'm pretty damn excited but decided last night not to hype myself up too much as I've still got a way to go to acquire all the bits and get it built. I have to say I am enjoying the research and hope to enjoy the learning curve of the build almost as much as playing it. I'm struggling to resist the urge to just buy a bunch of games I can't currently play as an additional motivating factor!
