Darnit Arturo, you're gonna make me start collecting these things. My problem at this point is going to be finding ones that are in box and as good condition as those.
Anywho, I have a silver one with black faceplate I play and my Famicom version on the way that I don't even plan on opening. Collectible!

That's exactly what happened to me. I saw a friend's collection and couldn't resist :D
Anyway, if you finally decide to begin collecting them you will find most of them in great condition at ebay. It's just a matter of patience.

Did they ever make an all (or nearly all) white micro?

I started playing mine again a few days ago, I still feel this is the best piece of hardware Nintendo has ever created.
…

Mmm… I don't believe there's a white GBM, but if you find one let me know! ;)
I really think it's one of the best pieces of hardware made by Nintendo indeed.

Picked up this beauty today, and I'm surprised how crisp and clear the screen is, not to mention how tiny the thing is. :lol
My famicom version just shipped from play-asia also, can't wait.

Beautiful!

Quick question, if I get a European GBM, it should charge with the US charger, right?
I charge my american and japanese ones just using an official european charger. Just that, so I guess it will work too if you use an american charger with a european GBM.

i´ve mostly played mother1+2+3 on this wonderful piece of equipment, but I snagged this awesome Wario game on sale at play-asia and I can´t put it down...

I love the japanese GB games boxes :p

I was browsing two great threads of DS Games and PSP Games and got an idea. What do you think about opening a new thread to make a compilation of the great games of this system? I can make the banner and help with the screenshots if some of you wants to open the new thread.

That's a great idea, I did a search and there doesn’t seem to have been a recent thread on the topic. Especially since I'm trying to get myself a Pink Micro though eBay, since Amazon UK won't ship to the US (and I really wanted a new one). I could use some tips on lesser knows good GBA game, even though I have about forty already.

Hi, this is my first post here at GAF. I've just seen this GBM Love thread and couldn't resist :D so, here is my collection:

Silver GameBoy Micro (European).
This is the one I actually use to play :) In pretty good condition as I bought it the day of the release in Europe.

I would love that! I'm myself, having almost never played a whole GBA game before, would need some advice on some killer games.

Arturo's collection pushed me to start checking eBay for a fairly priced Micro. I sold my first one since I figured I could use my DS if I really wanted to play a GBA game, but its nowhere near as portable.

And, perhaps more importantly, it just looks neat.

Yes please, we need a thread like that.
With all the GBA machines at the top too, with some nice gbmicro porn.

That's a helluva first post Arturo. Nice job. :D

I've got the Blue Micro but very rarely use it because I don't want to damage it. Would love to use it too!

Ah, the GBm... posted in this thread over a year ago, still loving that little sucker in 2008.

Not to diminish the sheer awesome awesomeness that is the DSL (my DS collection is like twice the size of any collection I've had for any system ever), but there's still something... pure about the Micro that keeps me coming back...

Sad to see GBA games have finally started disappearing from the shelves... they seem to be completely gone from all the 'big box' type stores in my area, gone from Walmart, even gone from many video game stores now.

Thankfully the glass shelves of unboxed used games still seem to be in some EB Games stores... those things are a freaking treasure trove for long forgotten rarities and hidden gems. I just about freaking dropped when I found Double Dragon Advance and Mega Man & Bass in my local EB the other day, two games that I could never find even on release. Hopefully they'll stick around for a bit longer while I finish up my GBA wish list.

Yeah I got a micro a few weeks ago and that prompted me to buy around 16 games off of half.com, ebay, and gamestop since then. And that's on top of the 30 or so gba games I already have.

My GOODNESS, those are beautiful GBM shots. I thought my DS was neat, but the sheer portability of this thing is amazing. *runs to ebay*

EDIT: I can't wait for GAF's definitive list of what GBA games I need to pick up...

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.

I check out all of the local GameStops every month or so for any overlooked gems; I've found quite a few in recent months. Other than that, though, as you said, you can't really find GBA games anywhere anymore (and when you DO find some at a big-box-type store, they're not likely going to be any good). It's understandable, but still kind of sad.

I do love my Micro, though. It's really the only TRUE portable, and the only one I want/need. I don't play portable games very often, and when I do, I like them to be quick, simple, pick up and play type titles; GBA is perfect for that, and the Micro is the ultimate iteration of the device.

And yeah, it's such a sexy-looking piece of kit. More pictures can't hurt, right?

My Famicom GBM arrived today, I'd post pics, but they won't look any different to anyone elses would they!

It really is tiny, very cute. The box is also surprisingly small, well designed too, it's maybe 2cm longer than a DS, but deeper obviously. Very neat.

Now I have to find my GBA carts, I have quite a few of the Famicom classics because the boxes were so small and tidy, the design of the carts go great with the Famicom GBM. :D

i really want one of these because the other portables really arent portable at all and i prefer the old school style games anyway. they still cost £50 though in the UK!

do the cartridges stick out below it though like on the ds lite?

The carts fit snuggly in, they don't stick out like DS.

The Famicom ones are currently £35 on Play-Asia.

damn, now i want one too!

but 50€ is expensive for something my DS could also do.
i´ll keep checking ebay, replaying minish cap on the micro would be awesome.

I just recently bought one used, cheap. The R button on it is kinda iffy, though. When I got it, the button seemed to be 80% pressed in all of the time - so it'd only register less than half of the button presses, and in games that make heavy use of R, it seemed to get stuck all the way in and wouldn't register any presses 'til I lodged it out.

I popped it open and it wasn't gunky or anything, and in fact, when the upper half of the GBM was taken off, both shoulder buttons worked perfectly. So when I screwed everything back together, I just left off the top right screw next to the R button, and that's helped dramatically (works 100% of the time, you can feel it click every time)...but it's still not quite as raised or as clicky as it should be. I'm stumped as to what a conclusive solution might be, to make the button as perfect as it should be.

Great! Did I say I love japanese GBA game boxes? :D

Well, I decided to start the new thread with the list of games but I have a few questions for you first?

1. How long should we keep the list? My first list already has 59 games… :lol
2. Should we post some information and photos of the system too (GBA, GBA SP and GBMicro)?
3. What kind of information would you like to see about each game? Title, developer, release date, region, etc.

Please, I need suggestions for the title of the thread. My english is a bit 'rusty' due to not practising it too much ;)

Cheers!

1. I'm not really sure how many to begin with, i guess the thread should aim to create a definitive list of the best gba games.

2.Well if you are going to post some gba porn taken with your nice camera. I say great!

3. yep, try include all that and a box shot

Pictures are definitely a must. It makes the list more enjoyable and accessible. I don't think system information is necessary but there is something more important like region. The list should have enough information about import friendliness of certain games and provide translation links if available (Rhythm Tengoku, Mother 3 ...)

At least this would make the list stand out of a typical games list. I don't think that limiting the list to a certain number is a good idea. It should also be updated regularly if certain games get forgotten. After all it should be a list for everyone where you can stub for gems if you need a new gba game.. ..or am i wrong?

Make 2 or 3 posts right in the beginning of the thread to keep for later updates. (I think there is a limit to the length of a post)

Don't list games numerically! opinions might differ from person to person.

hope this helps..

edit:
how about "The endless list of MASTERFUL GBA GAMES! Come in and find yours ( 1 2 3 4 5 ... Last Page )" for thread title? :D

1. Start the thread with five or ten of your favorites, then you can let the rubes take control.
2. It couldn't hurt, but maybe the focus should be on the software since we have this fine thread.
3. Title, developer, screenshots, gameplay details, etc.

As for a title, in NeoGAF tradition it would be something like "The Official Gameboy Advance Software Thread of Micro Pleasures for Great Pocket Justice."

The GBm now sells for around $50 in Japan, including the Famicom version.

Blue looks so tempting, but I don't play GBA games anymore.

I use a flash cart (well a cart with SD) to play Tetris DX through an emulator on mine. GB/GBX stuff runs fine mostly, but GBC can be iffy, it depends on the game.
