Inb4 it's the same old AC

Love that they detailed all the changes. First footage of a lot of the weapon types like the dual wielding. And some really different environments from the footage the other day.

They detail about how they switched combat from being based on indefinite pairing to being based on hitboxes, and detail all the little nuances of the new combat system as a result of that change. As well as the weapon types, and enemy archetypes and AI. Lots of new footage of these things in action.

Really coming around to the idea of treating this like a Witcher type game. I really wish stealth was a viable option throughout in any AC, but it's never been the type I want most. In and out, ghost style. Combat looks like something engaging for the first time a long time.

Have they detailed the storytelling yet? Seems like they have more interesting combat, and a compelling world to play in. But if I'm just getting regular old AC storytelling (or even something of the caliber of watch dogs 2), then I'm much less interested.

It doesn't seem terribly difficult, which has been the problem with previous Assassin's Creed combat systems.

The promise of Assassin's Creed 1 was that you could handle yourself in a 1 v 1 fight, or maybe even 1 v 2, but 1 v 3 was a losing battle you should run from. But countering meant that no amount of enemies was ever really a threat.

To that end I think that For Honor's combat system would be ideal. It's a shame they couldn't just pilfer that.

I really like the combat in this one, finally a real challenge and it still looks pretty, even if the animations aren't as orchestraded as before.

Can't wait to try it.

I don't think that's been very true, in every AC.

In AC1 if you encountered a templar in a crowd, the risk of dying was a real possibility.
and for example Unity got punishing to a fault, where high level enemies could one shot you in an instant (which was bad, since the game performed so bad, that nailing parries was a lucky shot).

So the series, for better or worse, can be hard when it wants to: to problem is, is it fun? And so far, i don't think the combat in AC as ever been particularly fun.

At least the stealth got somewhat decent in Syndicate, but the combat was always serviceable to shit.

I'm very skeptical about this, it seems to me like they took all the annoying, grindy shit from games like Witcher 3, and crammed into the AC formula thinking it would work to make it last even longer (really, was length ever a problem for AC?) but of course i give them the benefit of the doubt, and i'll keep an open mind.
It looks gorgeous and i love the setting, at least.

This has crossed into tentative rental territory. I'm curious to see if this game actually pans out. The last decade of this franchise, outside Black Flag, has been abominable.

I liked that they state why the previous fight system was flawed and are trying to address it with hit boxes. At least in this fashion, they are putting more thought into how you need to fight. It's also a neat concept with commander style enemies that their troops will back off of their fights out of respect unless you get to close to them. There are some solid elements here that I'm looking forward to experiencing.

Ashraf Ismail does a really good job of selling AC Origins; his enthusiasm and belief in the project really come across in this video.

I'm not totally convinced -- I'd need some personal hands on time or impressions from a known character action player -- but Origins is looking great.

I agree, but in that gif it seems the game forced that enemy to stand up as Bayek hit a damage threshold with the DPS weapon.

I have mixed feelings on Assassin's Creed focusing on outright combat, but as far as execution on that idea goes, this looks pretty fun and truly new (for AC).

On another note, is it just me or does Youtube compression really hurt this game's visuals? Is there any non-compressed video out there? Because I've yet to see it.

Looks like I'll probably be using ranged weapons the majority of the time. I just do not understand why anybody likes hitting grunts over and over and over again. Slit a guy's throat, throw a knife in another dude, strangle a chick with a whip, and then throw a javelin in the coward who's fleeing the battle. Kill after kill after kill. Free flowing and easy. Challenge should come from what enemies can do to you like toss a shield in your face, sweep your feet and put you on your back, grab you while another enemy gut shots you. Stuff like that.

Hey, CrossingEden, do you think we'll see the return of the assassin recruiting system? I figure they would have detailed it by now if it was in the game, but I also don't see why the would make an entire game about the origins of the Assassin Brotherhood without actually letting you bring individuals to your cause.

No idea. I assume that'll be part of the plot. Anyway, some footage of a palace or fort in a city.

This game is really growing on me with each info and video. Initially I was going to buy Mordor 2, but after that bullshit I might go with AC, I'm itching for some huge open world game. Also like the revamped combat and arena seems meaningful to obtain some cool gear.

Finally getting rid of Paired Animations is the best thing to happen to AC since forever.
And it will def bring a new challenge to the game.
Paired animations were easily exploitable and made combat while initially fun really really boring quickly.

The lack of paired animations, Weapon type, weapon stats and whatever other RPG elements are included mean this might make this the best Assassins Creed in the series from a gameplay perspective.

Not gonna watch any story trailers and such so hopefully the story will be okay.

Gonna be the first Assassins Creed I day one since Assassins Creed Revelations.

Ewwww, flying numbers and flashy ones if you land hits because players like flashy stuff, AC finally embracing open combat which I dont mind but I am not interested

I just play stealth and the game is going another route I dont really like , like some mentioned into a "souls" esque gameplay.

Cant wait for the stealth gameplay, if there is any
