The Evil Within 2 |OT| "Something not quite right"

Dusk Golem

Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer. I have posted on NeoGAF since 2011, and have decided to resign. I have enjoyed posting about horror games here for years, but I no longer wish to support the site and will be leaving for good. I will still be around the internet, I go by AestheticGamer on YouTube, I make games on Steam as Yai Gameworks, and I plan to go by Dusk Golem on other forums. I'll be joining an off-set of the GAF community leaving to try other ventures like ResetEra (Official Twitter for that here: https://twitter.com/reseteraforum ). I hope some of you who read this may consider it, and I plan to try to expose more people to horror games in the years to come. Just not here.

I hope you all are having a good day, and know I always loved the community, and in the end it's the community I'm going to stick with, not the site itself. If you want to follow me, my official Twitter is here: https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1

It's unpacking for me.

Time to wait an hour!

(I'm excited)

Set Steam to priority real time in task manager. I'm at 50MB/s and 10 minutes now.

Edit: Dropped to 10...

Edit2: It hovers between 10 and 35MB/s... god dammit

Edit3: Stable at 30MB/s now. 15 minutes.

Nightmare difficulty is no joke. 2 hits from the basic enemies is a game over.

Not enjoying the controls. Camera is sluggish and laggy no matter the sensitivity you set. Feels like a PC game with mouse acceleration on.

If anyone can confirm it feels like the first or slightly better I'll be ok. I played it on ps4 and after getting used to how he controlled I didn't really notice it.

The somewhat mixed reviews combined with the complete lack of PRO support (which is extremely disappointing to me, and which is something I don't want to support Devs just skipping like this) have convinced me to wait for a sale on this one. However, with that said, I really do hope it does well. I don't want this series or this style of game go away.

Anyone got any PC performance impressions yet?

Those with a GTX 1070 preferably

Listening to the ACG review, (took a quick ten second peek when he mentions the graphics). It's odd that some in this thread have said that the graphics seem to be a big improvement (aside from the occasional close up texture), but ACG doesn't agree. He's saying it suffers similarly to how most open world games suffer compared to more linear/smaller map experiences in regards to graphics. Saying it's not bad, but you'll sometimes question if the previous game didn't typically look better.

I wonder if the people saying the graphics are better are actually talking about the graphics, or simply the aesthetics and overall feel of the more open spaces. When I previously mentioned a lack of survival horror games this gen, and only thought of two (when I guess there had been three), I forgot about yet another game that I absolutely loved. Athough I never considered the Wii U to be part of the current gen anyway like a lot of people.

Some of what I saw in the clips reminded me a whole lot of ZombiU. That was the best SV or action/horror experience I've had since the first two Dead Space games.

edit: Dammit. I'm still hyped to play this (my expectations were tempered anyway), but according to this review, TEW2 suffers a similar lack of direction and feeling like a mix of other games (that doesn't always mesh together very well) as the previous.

I came out of the ACG review with a similar impression. The sections of the game he featured looked very bland and boring, aesthetically, but also the image quality definitely didn't seem improved over the original.

I haven't watched any other gameplay yet, but am curious to know if the game looks as clean and boring throughout, or it was just the section ACG featured in the video?

Why is unpacking taking forever? And why does it need internet connection when it's just unpacking and doesn't say it's downloading anything?
