~SUMMARY OF PAST GG~ *SPOILERS!

PROLOGUE
-The end of the 21st century-
Humanity succeeded in creating what became known as “magic” essentially a source of limitless power. But though mankind had discovered the path leading to true wisdom, it was unable to renounce its foolish and destructive ways. What was intended to help, nurture, and promote world peace was instead corrupted and used for war.

It was during these trying times that a scientist known only as “That Man” conducted forbidden experiments on someone known as Frederick, who would later be known as Sol Badguy, turning him into the first of the living weapons known as Gears. Those in power, seeing that these new weapons could be used to ensure their continued hold on that power, created Gears in great numbers—their goal was nothing less than world domination.

Although GEARs were originally human, after their transformation they possessed no free will of their own…except for one. This Gear, Justice, took control of her fellow weapons and declared war on all of humanity. It was this action that began what was soon called the Crusades, a century-long war pitting mankind against the weapons they had created.

-The end of the Crusades-
In a last, desperate attempt to prevent complete annihilation, the forces of humanity formed the Sacred Order of Holy Knights, an army that specialized in the extermination of Gears. It was due to their efforts that the tide of war turned, and the Gears were slowly pushed back. In the year 2175, Justice—the one responsible for the world’s descent into chaos and horror—was finally defeated and sealed away. Then, at last, the Crusades came to an end with humanity emerging victorious, though only just barely.

GUILTY GEAR
It was only five years later that Justice’s prison proved much less permanent than the world had hoped, when she was released and resurrected by an unknown party. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the U.N. began recruiting for a 2nd Sacred Order of Holy Knights. Among those who came to participate in the tournament being held to screen potential volunteers was Sol. Sensing an ulterior motive behind the tournament, Sol took it upon himself to not only to defeat Justice once and for all, but to unravel the true intentions behind the U.N.’s tournament… and become its champion as well.

GUILTY GEAR X
-One year after the destruction of Justice-
The world was informed that a Gear had appeared who claimed to be an ally of humankind. Ky, now a member of the International Police Force, was dispatched to investigate those responsible for the announcement. Upon entering the forest of demons, an area believed to be the home of the last remaining Gears, Ky found Dizzy, a young half-Gear woman.

Despite his best efforts, Ky was defeated by Dizzy and her overwhelming strength. As a result, a huge reward was offered for her capture, making her a prime target for bounty hunters everywhere. She was eventually defeated by Sol, who for some reason chose to let her live.

GUILTY GEAR 2
-2186 A.D-
Ky ascended to the throne of the United Kingdoms of Illyria, a powerful federation of nations that dominated the European continent. Not long after claiming the throne, a mysterious force led by a young woman known only as Valentine attacked the capital city of Illyria. Around the same time, parts of her army also attacked Sol. After fighting them off, Sol made his way to Illyria to reinforce Ky’s army, at Ky’s request. Together, they were able to repel Valentine’s army, but the capital was virtually annihilated in the process. Afterwards, Sol pursued Valentine into another dimension known as the Backyard, where he eventually defeated her.

GUILTY GEAR Vastedge
To prepare for the second coming of Valentine’s forces, Sol embarked upon a journey to collect the sacred treasures known collectively as the Outrage—eight powerful weapons he had created.

Sol soon discovered that one of them, the Flashing Fang, was being held under tight security inside a UN facility known as Harden Fort. With the help of Sin, the child Sol was charged with rearing, Sol managed to fight his way into the facility. Once there, however, he ran into Baldias, a member of the Conclave. Sol learned that the governments of the world were actually under the control of the rather small Conclave.

After a tremendous battle, Sol was able to defeat Baldias and regain possession of the Flashing Fang.

GUILTY GEAR Xrd -SIGN-
Sol was in the process of chasing down the other sacred treasures when here received a message from Ky. In it, Ky told him that someone by the name of Ramlethal Valentine had declared war on all of humanity.

Sol reluctantly put his quest on hold and headed off to face this new Valentine. However, Ramlethal’s declaration of war was a diversion. A flying object known as the “Cradle” suddenly appeared, to wipe out the people from the city of Babylon. Ky took measures against the collapse of Babylon which had become a major global incident.

On top of resisting many times, he was successful in destroying the “Cradle,” however, what emerged from within the “Cradle” was none other than Justice, the Gear which had once waged the Crusades which brought humanity to the brink of extinction. The Conclave was confirmed to be the mastermind. Because Sin was able to open Ramlethal’s heart through repeated communication, Justice’s destination was established.

At the final destination, “Illyria Castle,” the decisive battle with Justice occurred and Sol emerged victorious. Elphelt then awakens, and begins to carry out her original mission, now devoid of emotions. In response to Sol’s desperate cries, Elphelt regained her emotions, but was taken away by the true mastermind.

6 New Characters

6NLD3vJ.jpg

Johnny - a returning character from the GGXX series. He is the leader of the Jellyfish Pirates and uses Iaido for fast strikes at mid-range. Johnny also has a limited number of coins that he throws at the opponent that serves two purposes: to cancel the recovery of his attacks into continued offense, and to power up his Mist Finer specials for extended combos.

dgKjTFn.jpg

Jack-O' - a new character who wears a pumpkin shaped mask and a jumpsuit with leg flares and is one of That Man's associates. She places ghosts on the ground to summon servants to attack the opponent. The opponent can hit the ghosts and servants, but Jack-O' can pick up and move the ghosts. Her play style was inspired by the Real Time Strategy game GG2 OVERTURE.

2jRzDot.jpg

Jam Kuradoberi - return from the GGXX series. She is a master chef and probably spends more time in the kitchen than in the battlefield. However, when she does fight, she possesses extraordinary power by channeling her Ki into devastating special attacks. Jam is a very offensive oriented character that wants to be up close and personal whenever possible.

*Console Exclusive for Now

vymHXfo.jpg

*Kum Haehyun (DLC) - a new character who is a martial arts master. Appearing as a large, strong old man, the real Haehyun is in fact a young woman. Her outward appearance is an artificial body, Jeonryeok Kum, piloted by Haehyun from within. Kum's special attacks have multiple follow-up attacks that the player can pick depending on the situation.

dRnwXO7.jpg

*Raven (DLC, also unlockable in-game) - a returning character from GG2 OVERTURE, making his fighting game debut in GGXrd -REVELATOR-. An immortal and That Man's right-hand man, Raven is a masochist who has grown tired of his immortal life. In battle, Raven has long reaching attacks and a unique special that fills a gauge if he takes damage during it, increasing the power of his other attacks.

L12SP3N.png

*Dizzy (DLC) - a returning character from the GGXX series. She is the half-Gear daughter of Justice, and is now wife to Ky Kiske and mother of Sin Kiske. In past games, Dizzy was a highly mobile character who employed her wings, Necro and Undine, in combat, along with various projectiles used to control space and allow Dizzy to get up close.

~CHANGES FROM SIGN TO REVELATOR~

Stylish Type
- Introduces an extra button (Special, SP) for performing specials and Overdrives
- Connecting normals in sequence results in situational auto-combos and blockstrings
- Holding no direction in neutral blocks mids and highs automatically
- Stylish characters take 20% extra damage from attacks

Throw Break
- Occurs when two players attempt to normal throw each other at the same time

Homing Dash (D > 6) overhauled
- Now forces the opponent into a tumble with the character pursuing them, normals re-tumble for a while, then cause the opponent to plummet
- Normals can be cancelled into other normals freely for a short period of time, as with Homing Jump
- Opponent still wall sticks if they reach the corner
- Performing no homing action after D no longer causes wall stick in the corner

Burst Overdrive
- Augmented Overdrives that cost both 50% Tension and the entire Burst Gauge
- Only one Overdrive per character can be used as a Burst Overdrive, specifically their cinematic Overdrive
- Performed by doing the motion for the Overdrive and pressing D (ex: 632146H becomes 632146D)
- Burst Overdrives have fully invulnerable start-up and deal 25% more damage than their regular counterparts
- Minimum damage is also increased, but the percentage varies on a case-by-case basis
- Some Burst Overdrives have additional benefits specific to the Overdrive in question - Successfully landing a Burst Overdrive restores a third of your Burst Gauge

Blitz Shield altered
- A successful rejection now slightly refills the Burst Gauge
- Crouching Blitz Shield can now be performed by pressing 3 + H + any other attack button except D
- Crouching Blitz Shield no longer rejects mids

Blitz Attack
- Performed by holding H during a grounded Blitz Shield
- Can be charged by holding H longer and continues to reject while charging
- Upon glowing red, the charge rejects all rejectable moves, and the attack itself gains a greatly increased Attack Level and can no longer be rejected by a Blitz Reversal
- On ground hit, causes horizontal blowback with wall stick in the corner at partial charge, crumples at full charge (or on Counter Hit at partial charge)
- On air hit, causes horizontal blowback with wall stick in the corner at partial charge, floats with wall stick in the corner at full charge (or on Counter Hit at partial charge)
- Partial charge version has 55% initial proration, full charge version does not prorate
- All levels of charge steal a small amount of the opponent's Burst Gauge on hit

Thanks Dustloop!

Where is Dizzy?
- Soon!

Is Jam panties hidden tech still in the game?
- Still need confirmation YES IT IS!

Where can I find or watch high level matches?
- keep on rockin'

How is the tutorial for this game?
- Godlike

How do I ______? What is ______?
- Ask GG experts from this thread! There is also an in-game FAQ when you pause the menu during battle

Can I use PS3 arcade stick on the PS4 version?
- Yes, the game support USB legacy controller

Are there English voices and English texts in the Japanese version?
- No, Japanese version only have JP voices and JP texts. Also no plans to add other languages

Are there English voices in the NA/EU version?
In other news some people are already saying that Aksys confirmed at Momocon that there will be no dub for Revelator. The main reason they stated is that the story mode isn't finished yet and they'll have to finish it through DLC and doing the dubbing now would result in schedule problems for DLC later on. So yeah it pretty much official.
So, apparently, the game wont only not have English dub for story mode, but none at all even during battle, English VA from SIGN have been taken out. This is heart breaking, really loved I-No's VA.

Does my save data progress from the PS4 demo carry over to the full version?
- Nope

Are there cross-play/cross-save between PS4 version and PS3 version?
- YES!

Does PS4 version and PS3 version share the same trophy list and DLC?
- YES!

Does PS4 version and PS3 version share the same online stats info?
-Yes, online stats and R-Code data are saved on the server

Will the PS4 demo ever expired?
- No, but you could delete it to save HDD spaces

Great job with the OT, less than 30 minutes to unlock it!.

Can you share the first image in the OT without the logos?. I don't think I have seen it at that resolution.

OK, but seriously why haven't they shown off Dizzy yet? It's been for-fucking-ever since she won the poll, they could at least show an in-game screenshot or two.

Waiting for new theme tunes as well. That's the best part about new characters really.

Eolz

Nice OT! Can't wait for my european CE.
Also, be aware about some story spoilers on the net, even if Arcsys wants to avoid it. Some nice surprises.

Brandon F

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
So they never did bring back Baiken...damn even held off of Xrd in hopes of that for this upgrade. :(

Lyte Edge

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
I've got the digital J-version preloaded and ready to go later today! Been messing with the preview version and I really like Jack-O. Probably will be my new main.

If the import doesn't have an English text option, I will likely pick up the physical U.S. release since I want to be able to fully-use the training modes.

Shit's pre-ordered, money in the bank, let's go. Kinda interested in learning Dizzy, assuming she's the same as she's always been. Gonna play the hell out of Johnny and Raven too.

Korigama

Member
Wonder if they'll charge real money for Dizzy, like they wound up doing with Leo in -SIGN- (not like it wouldn't be far more successful if they did, given how many people have been waiting for her specifically).

Still hate the makeover for Elphelt, but also hoping it will only be temporary like the one Tsubaki got in BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma and we'll get her old look back.

Holy shit I forgot this was coming soon. My paycheck is evaporating before it even gets here. :(

In for Johnny & more Elphelt.

Hmm forgot about this, think I will continue with the normal plan and buy Doom this week and this when the english verison drops in a week+

Excited to get some Kim play.

Do you think this'll come to PC at some point?

Guilty Gear generally didn't do as well as the Blazblue games according to Steam Spy

ARC SYSTEM WORKS (multiple Steam publishers)

Blazebue: Calamity Trigger - 182.000
Blazeblue: Continuum Shift Extended - 64.000
BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend - 29.000

Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- 68.000
Guilty Hear Isuka - 43.000
Guilty Gear X2 - 43.000
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R - 27.000
Guity Gear 2 -OVERTURE- 5.000

It did better than any of the recent Blazblue games.

The one that did better was up on steam for 2 years more and had sales that dropped it to 1/10th of the price that Xrd hit.

At first I was sad reading through this OT because I currently don't have the funds to pick this up... until I realized that's because I pre-ordered this way back when the PSN demo went live. Surprise gift from past self to present self?

Also, when is ASW going to reveal Dizzy? I heard from someone somewhere that there was a date/time frame following release?

I'm in, this will essentially be my first foray into 2D fighting games (I have played a few others but GG sticks out the most to me). Coming from a Tekken background.

By the way, is there a trailer for Dizzy? Can't recall.

Just a silhouette ala Smash newcomer in the second trailer.

But I don't have the money to import...

I'm looking forward to seeing how Raven turns out while I wait.

Just stopping by to say great OT.

Won't be able to get into this until the overseas version is out, don't have the money to import.

Looking forward to this when it releases stateside, the demo has already gotten a solid amount of play time out of me.
