Got back to Zero Evo after a few week long break and cleared chapter 1.
Fell in love with the game all over again and the battle system feels much better than in the SnK trilogy.
Only 2 problems with the game, nothing too big:
Textures with letters, like shop signs, look terrible. This is also true for the trees in the background when characters stop to look at the scenery. Hope they will do something with it in Ao Evo.
Second thing might sound a bit weird, but I hate the sound when you tap the map to view it on the full screen. Reminds me of an error/you can't choose this option sound. But maybe that's just me.

The demo for Ao Evo was the same. The PC version of the games the textures obviously aren't a problem.

Heh, I am about to order a bunch of pc games from Falcom and was just about to ask this. I guess I'll add it to the list. Is the port decent overall or does it have it's own issues?

No issues/bugs/glitches on pc but I only gotten as far as the first chapter before stopping. Prefer playing it on Vita despite probably buying Sora FC on Steam anyways. Ha

How much VA does the original version of Zero actually have? About as much as Sen?

Only played the demo of Evo. :p

Not nearly as much as Sen. All things considered, Sen has significantly more voiceover than vanilla Zero and Ao. It was probably the single most surprising thing about the game, to be honest.

The Ao demo has motivated me to go back and finish Zero Evo, as well. Every other time I tried I gave up instantly due to not being in the mood. Almost to chapter 3 so I think this is the time. Ao comes out the week before I get to Japan so hopefully I can still find a collectors box to match the zero one.

It's 4am, but I've finally cleared Zero Evo. Damn, what an awesome game. All the system upgrades and much better pacing than in the Sora trilogy made this title a great treat.

Although I still think that Falcom's last dungeons are way too long and tedious.

That said, I'm extremely happy that Ao Evo is coming out so soon. If I had to wait more than 2 months I'd just buy Ao PSP.

Started SnK the 3rd. Great intro, but wow at the entire prologue chapter being a single cutscene with a few battles. ^^;

Still:
Kevin rocks, so I'm glad to see him be the lead. The opening scene on the flying ship was a great way to start it.

First Tita flashback...this cutscene is never going to end, is it? Well, I guess it's good to know that before doing character doors I better have an hour+ free :\

The doors tend to be very long, yes. But don't shy away from them, there's so much goodness.

kk, the other thing they remind me of is how I really don't enjoy the 1 person team battles in this series. I really, really like the battle system, but the fewer party members you have the more drawn out and tedious the battles are. Not really looking forward to
all the 1 person tests behind their doors.

A few days ago I thought "screw the wait for Ao Evo", grabbed a 1k used UMD copy and started playing the PSP version of Ao no Kiseki.
22 hours and 2 chapters in and I must say that I don't regret this decision at all.
Rehashed quests and dungeons aside, it's a really great game so far.

Edit:
Cleared Ao. What an awesome ride. Loved the system changes and the story as a whole.
Time for Sen!

Could anyone tell me how much Zero spoils SC and The 3rd? I'm waiting for SC in english but was wondering if Zero could be played without major spoilers for the remainder of Sora. I was planning on playing a japanese copy of The 3rd after SC is released as I would imagine those two are more closely linked.

Zero has one major plot thread from SC and 3rd that occurs in it. You absolutely have to play SC at the minimum to understand and "get" it. 3rd expands on that plot thread in detail and most will say you should see that as well before experiencing that thread of events in Zero.

Imo, you shouldnt play Zero before the second and third chapter of Sora. Especially when Zero is tied closely with Ao...

*sigh* Okay, time to play the waiting game for english SC. I would just play it in japanese through other means but the disc swapping is a pain I've heard.

SC for sure. 3rd is a toss up based on a story angle, IMO. If you're not in a rush, no reason not to play 3rd but if you're looking gor something different after SC then Zero is plausible as a choice.

I played the demo for Sen out of curiosity and luckily it didn't spoil anything. That was close!

But was cool seeing the battle system play out in 3d graphics. Really, really enjoy the battle system of the series (except when you only have 1-2 people in your party). Slowly enjoying 3rd right now and looking forward to all the future entries.

I've started seriously playing Sen yesterday and cleared the prologue.
Characters seem likeable, although it's hard to say anything at this point.

I'm not too impressed with the technical side of the game though. While I agree that seeing everything in 3D is really cool, the game has framerate drops (on the vita), some of character movements feel REALLY stiff and the loading times are quite long.
All of the above will take a bit of getting used to, but since they're not that terrible, I won't even complain.
What I will complain about is a loading freeze during a dialogue scene after the first boss, which made me reset the game and fight him again. (・_・)

Technical problems aside, I'm really enjoying it so far.

Edit:
Oh, it's also really sad to see the 2d portraits during dialogues gone. They looked much better than the 3d faces.

Yup, they could have follow how the Atelier did it. Well until they too got rid of the 2d portrait :(. Actually Sen with Atelier Ayesha level of graphical polish while keeping the 2d portrait art and character design would be amazing. Even though techinically Sen was actually developed using the same (Phyre) engine that was used in most of the recent Gust games :p.

From the XSeed forums:
Did we say SC was coming in summer? (looks) Crap, we did!

...Because yeah... I don't see it happening. In fact, I don't think I EVER saw that happening -- far as I knew, it was always planned for much closer to the end of the year. Not sure why we said summer, but... no, I don't think it's going to make summer, I'm afraid. (Not because of FC bugs, mind you, but because it's still being translated and edited!)

Judging by what XSEED has been posting here and there, FC on Steam will probably be out by summer. They kept running into new game-breaking bugs.

I can't remember, did they ever officially say Summer 2014? I thought it was just sometime in 2014 and FC was supposed to be Winter 2013.

We're still on track for summer with FC, barring any more total breakage. But yeah, while it's *remotely possible* SC will make summer, I wouldn't count on it if I were you. Sorry...

Thanks for the update.

In a way, I'm glad that SC summer was a mistake. I'd be very concerned for the state of the development if FC was the one hitting summer instead of the originally planned SC.

Apparently Sara, their programmer, is more or less going at this alone since Falcom no longer has any PC programmers on the team that could possibly help with knowledge of the inner workings of the game. Finding out that this game doesn't actually use Ys engine must have been a really nasty surprise, but hopefully Sara is at least picking up new tricks for her toolbox in the process.
