This is so people can get up and walk around without killing themselves while still maintaining whatever visual style the developers intend. Your coffee table could become a low mound of crumbling ancient ruins, for example. I'm not sure any VR maker should be encouraging people to walk around in their VR helmets even with this, what if you forget those rocks are actually your delicate glass table and try stepping on ancient stones?
