Yep, pretty barebones port so far, no MSAA or even FXAA, jaggies just killing the IQ, font can also be in higher resolution. And 30 fps does not feels great, but i can understand the reason about it, at least no framepacing issues. But still this game from 2004 ant its shows.
PS - DS4Windows + new Dualshock 4 works fine with this game.

This is how game looks with original resolution :)

How does the game run for everyone? Is it normal to not get anywhere close to steady 30 fps on a 750ti?

Do you need a windows account to play? Or microsoft or whatever.

It's downloading but even then I can't find what drive it's downloading to and I suspect when I open it I'll have to sign in or something.

I probably should just not bother.

Why did I have the impression that this game had a card based combat system? I am still in the tutorial parts but so far it has nothing to do with cards. Which is great, because I can enjoy this combat system.

How are you downloading it without being signed into a Microsoft Account in the first place? Legitimate question, I didn't know you could use the store without one (if that's the case).

It's also very, very easy to make an account.

You can access the computer next to Kajikawa in the headquarters to read the contents of the memory boxes. It unlocks fairly early on (this is the same computer you use to adjust options and view battle records without returning to the main menu).

It is a card-based combat system - you just don't get access to deck building until Chapter 3.

Prior to that, it's teaching you about how combat within the system works, what the various different types of cards do, how aura works, etc., so you have that knowledge once you get around to being able to build a deck.

I loaded up the game without my controller plugged in, then out of pure laziness decided to venture forward without it... the game works surprisingly well with m/kb controls if anyone is wondering.

All of my game installs pop-up with a prompt asking me which drive to install it; weird that yours isn't.

If you have anything higher than 48,000hz set for your sound device then the game won't boot at all.

Disappointed but should have expected it with how much of a straight port this game is.

Most of the time, you have to be in the optimal range stated on the skill (close, mid, far). Also skills have different levels of homing as well as different trajectories.

Yeah, those "fix MS spying" programs and guides are generally bad news. Overzealous and uninformed. I'd just turn off the user facing settings and call it a day.

That's part of the game, just because you're locked on doesn't mean you will always hit your target.

Your opponent can dodge your attacks too.

For those with fullscreen problems. UWP games tend to launch in a window and only go "fullscreen" if they are focused. With Forza I need to press a controller button and only after that it will go fullscreen.

Been trying for over an hour now, and can't join a single game. Quick match, optimatch, crossplay on/off, doesn't matter, just constantly get the "Could not find a session" error. Waited 10 mins in my own lobby and not a single person joined either.

I beat chapter 2 in the SP, and I like the game so far. I made a Rushdown Psycho/Ki deck in both SP and MP, but the MP one is much better because of the free skills... at least I think it is, I'd really like to try it out :/

Those who are having issues online:

Make sure your hosting matches or searching matches with "Quick" as the game rules as that is what's available for public lobbies, any other ruleset seems to be private lobby only.

Also use Optisearch, and leave everything as none to get a full list of who's currently hosting what.

Outside of that, I'm not sure what the issues could be outside most people just not making it over to the MP yet, it's not really a game you can hop right online if you have never played before.

Correct.

I was only finding lobbies with Quick enabled last night and attempting to create a public one won't let you change the rule set, so I figured it had something to do with it.

Glad that the other suggestion worked out though.

Yes you get one of 8 pre-build arsenals. If you get no match there is no open Quick Match lobby, but you can create one - then others will see it or be put into it when they select Quick Match.

Because it came out a few months before the 360 was announced, MS had no confidence (despite being the Publisher/owner of the IP in Japan, they gave it to Majesco AFTER translating it in the 11th hour because they were going to cancel it), and it was on the X-box/dark horse console of the era.

From OP:

More importantly, this is a game A LOT of people never had the opportunity to even play. The game was originally a Japanese Xbox exclusive that was almost never localized until Majesco, a now defunct North American publisher, released the game in the states as a budget title with a limited print run, little to no marketing, and only 8 months before the release of the Xbox 360. Additionally, the Japanese release was only a few months after the infamous cancellation of True Fantasy Live Online, a move that hurt the reputation of the original Xbox, and arguably Xbox in general a great deal in Japan. It was also just flat out never released anywhere else (including the entirety of Europe).

They can do so much with it, I can see some excellent systems being built using the principles from the original game.

This game would basically be like hearths tone but with a real time implementation.

Everyone on here tell Lucent to stop being cheap and at least buy the 300 card pack to show support. Lol

Not sure how many of you all own a PS Vita, but if you do and enjoy Phantom Dust, try out a game called Soul Sacrifice Delta.

It's the closest thing to Phantom Dust that's not named Phantom Dust, and if a sequel for PD ever comes to be, I really hope they go for a similar gameplay style. I want PD with the same level of depth and variety, combined with the combat of a modern character action game.
