Battlefront II |OT| I find your lack of crates disturbing

My suggestions for the game would be to have a joinable squad mechanic like in BF1, and to have a voice-comms opt in for squads so we can better coordinate. A command rose would also be really helpful. I think with coordinated tactics this game could be something else, and on occasion you can see some groups are coordinatng with discord or whatever based on how they set up defensively.

Go Go Neo Rangers!
TLDR.

Did I miss something? My classes levels for assault and heavy have been at level 4 for like ever? Are the challenges the only way they level up?

Does anybody else have like flickering/blinking during the story mode? It like goes from like bright to not so bright for like 30 seconds and then goes normal.

Defense pays off in this game, we covered both flanks, spawned two heroes at once and won /BattlefrontMoments

I've only played story mode and yes brightness is up and down like a yo-yo.

After spending more time with the game, I've now come to see how it looks significantly better than BF2015. Kashyyyk in particular looks absolutely bonkers, more so if you are traversing it on a fighter, those massive trees are impressive.

And a very cool detail I saw: on the hoth assault map, the big ships that presumably just dropped off both walkers turn around and just head into the distance, but if you follow them with a sniper scope you'll see how the fly to a farway star destroyer and enter it's hangar. I thought it was pretty neat.

Final note on game balance, I have not seen a single time where the defending team can destroy the walkers or the ATTs, and it's not lack of trying, they have too much health as of now. Perhaps upping the range at which the ion disrupters can be fired to, say, 120 meters (instead of 100) could help the defender a little, as well as maybe 5 more seconds of vulnerability. We'll see how it gets balanced further on.

The game is a blast.

Update has reset all my class my progression to 0 and I now get kicked from games. I'm so disappointed.

I’ve played Kamino and Mos Eisley on galactic assault only one time each.... but the other maps seem to be in regular rotation. What gives??

MTX aside I can't believe how incredibly broken this game is. I'm about 20 hours into the multiplayer and it's clear that those that purchased the Elite Trooper edition for $10 extra dollars are just running around destroying everyone with their CR-2 and elite grenades.

They haven't fixed that since yesterday?

Get good?

I consistently place in the top 3-5 depending on the playlist. And it’s only 240 craft points to get a level 3 nade. Opening your first crates gets you a ton to begin with.

People will complain for complaining’s sake.

I consistently place in the top 5 as well, I'm just saying that the extra $10 for the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition definitely gave those players an incredible advantage in multiplayer that is still obvious 4 days after launch.

I cannot think of a game in recent memory where a preorder or "deluxe" version gave a player such an advantage over others.

Man 69 at Metacritic is really poor, i suppose this game was supposed to review much better than Battlefront 2015. And that's quite high considering some reviews did not even critique the loot box system.

Hope this will sting for EA, really hard.

Going forward, I just hope other devs take note that games shouldnt be pay-to-win. Thats poison for anything PvP.

During some of the cutscenes is space kind of grayish for anyone else? Can't decide if this is my TV settings or the prerendered cut scenes fucking with me.

Seriously. There are always a couple of dominating players, but learn the game and you will be one of them.

For all the complaints about the progression system, I find it extremely simple. Play the game, cash in the points, set up your cards. I daresay it's less frustrating than leveling up a bunch of guns in Call of Duty... and to be honest I *like* getting cool loot from the boxes.

On the one hand people complain that there's too much of the old characters in the single player, then they turn around and complain that they can't PLAY as the old characters in multiplayer. It's exhausting. Play the game. It's fun and looks and sounds amazing.

Losing progression due to bugs or losing connection is not cool in ANY game, of course.

When it all boils down, people seem to be getting off on tearing down Battlefront 2, which isn't much of a shock... because they did the same thing to Battlefront 1. These morons would rather have no 40 player multiplayer Star Wars, I guess. Smh.

Might have gotten this game but not with progression to loot box grind. Fuck that noise. I want to level up the class and weapon i'm playing and using. Not by opening RNG loot boxes.

Played it until 2AM last night leveling up my Heavy. It can be done and when the upgrades hit, it is very rewarding on many levels. You should rent it and see for yourself.

Exactly. I've been leveling up my Assault guy and using the crate money on Hero crates. It's fun. The critics are all a bunch of whiny children.

One of the major review publications stated that if they had to review the game without lootboxes, they would give it a 9+, but with lootboxes, 6.5. Grow up, reviewer. I haven't spent a thin nickel of actual money on upgrading and I frequently have Top 5 match placements... and I'm an old dude who started playing days after many people.

I gave $48 for this game that I enjoy the hell out of. I don't see how this progression system is radically different from the Battlepacks in previous BF/Dice games, but people act like somehow this is akin to robbing us and tricking us. No, some of us will buy crates, others will not. If you play and get better, it's largely irrelevant.

Definitely think Star Wars fans getting caught up in the loot crate nonsense are missing out here.

Have you tried to squad up with friends? Is it possible?

I played the campaign via EA Access. Still have three hours left of my trial. Not sure I will use them up. The vehicle controls (specifically in space battles) on KB+M don’t feel great to me but maybe I need to tweak some things

It looks and runs masterfully though

Can you finish the campaign on Origin Access? Might be worth $4.

I think it can detract from an experience if I'm constantly being reminded how better it would be if I paid, so those scores aren't unfounded. And let us not forget that a 6.5 is indeed above average, which is liberal for a game that tries to sell you stuff every time you turn it on (as was the case for the reviewer.)

So the game is clearly good in its own right. But it's up to every reviewer to decide how much worse it was for them with MTX.

You cannot finish the campaign on Origin/EA access anyway. Played the part until the trial demo ends. Does not entice me to buy this game and carry on anyway.

Critic reaction seems entirely justified from what I've played. I'm just constantly getting my ass handed to me by players with rare cards. Then their advantage gives them access to the special units and heroes in the game, and they continue to dominate the match with this snowball effect. Those guys are probably having a blast, but fuck me if it's not at the expense of other players who're not willing to invest in the Deluxe Edition or were not around pre-release to spend money on loot boxes..

In the few hours I played, I was only able to buy like 3 loot boxes and I got nothing particularly useful from them. Sooo yeah. Seems like it's a bad game. Gameplay advantages like that are just straight up garbage. Get out of here EA. I regret paying money for this shit.

Hello crackheads. If SWBFII is gambling because of the motherfucking lootboxis, then what about card games based on payed packs of random cards, like Magic or YUGIOH, are they gambling too? Because they are the exact same thing.

I despise videogames with pay to win mechanics, even more if they are not FTP, but I think this is overkill. The lootbox system is shit in SWBFII, true, but comparing this with a casino is shit-thinking.

Let's talk about the actual game and gameplay in the OT thread, shall we?

Overall I am enjoying the game. Assault is my favorite class so far especially since I've upgraded the scan dart card and have been using that pretty well, especially in the 40 player matches on both offense and defense.

One complaint I have is having just played a Strike match, on Kashyyk as Separatist side. We were being spawn camped, literally shot by snipers as soon as we spawned. So far that's the only area I've come across with a bad spawn situation. Was quite frustrating and I hope that's on the List of things to fix.

You can't even spend money to get lootboxes at this point. You're getting your butt kicked because you suck and they don't... like every other game.

I mostly enjoyed the campaign, a few levels where you play heroes were lame. I find that galactic assault is mostly uncoordinated running around. I rarely feel like I’m having an impact on the game. Now STARTFIGHTER ASSAULT is where it’s at! Tie vs Xwings in space is great!

My biggest complaint and question is this: on the xbox one (x) I have to exit back to the menu after EVERY SINGLE round of multiplayer. If I let it sit and countdown it will eventually fail. If I go to the menu and quit, I have to do it multiple times before it kicks back to the loading screen with Rey, Darth Maul and Iden. FINALLY after 30-60 seconds at that screen it dumps me to the main menu with an error message (error 327, you have lost connectivity to the EA servers)
When I relaunch starfighter assault or another mode (thats rare lol) it works like normal but damn it takes a long time between rounds. Are others having this issue and have the devs addressed it???

I just finished the campaign. I fucking loved it. Cutscenes are really fun to watch. Shriv was amazing. Most of the writing and acting was on point. I wish the middle had a few more missions to flesh it out and that some of the non-Iden missions didn't exist or were played as Iden (I'm looking at you Luke and Leia). Really looking forward to the story DLC in a few weeks. Also, I had no intentions of unlocking Iden early on, but by the end I decided to use those 5k credits for that intended purpose.

LOL - totally agree about Iden. I'm halfway through (to the bearded guy level) and I just used 5k to unlock her.... the first hero I've used credits to unlock. I'm a Droid fan.

I do disagree about the Luke/Leia missions, though. I enjoyed having those characters come to life in some mild way, and they were true to the original characters' personalities. I might have preferred if they didn't integrate Leia with Iden, because that's a whole barrel of coincidences, but I did spend the 5k... so I guess it worked.

I honestly wish this had just been published by Lucas - the hate this game (and BF1) generates just for having the EA stamp is completely stupid. A fun game is a fun game. I'm loving BF2.

After several more hours of gameplay, I am definitely enjoying this more and more. My cousin and I played the Arcade mode yesterday and loved the old-school splitscreen coop. As for multiplayer, I have been playing a lot of Strike, Conquest, and Blast. Other than the mysterious Code:327 errors, this game has lived up to my expectations. As for the loot crate and progression system discussion, I think it is much ado about nothing. I truly hope people try this game for themselves.

Game is great, but EA/Dice are doing themselves no favors staying totally silent for the past week in the wake of the controversy. Need to give fence sitters a reason to dive in. It'd be a shame of this game's population dies out early due to this nonsense.

How exactly will “getting good” allow more crate purchases, when in game performance isn’t even rewarded? (Or, if it is, the difference is so minimal as to make virtually no difference). And don’t say milestones, because they’re one-offs, and the reward from those is paltry as well.

The complaint was that people with the deluxe trooper cards have a huge advantage over those who dont. The response was git gud because skill is more important than those cards.

I would agree with that response as I have the deluxe trooper cards and they really don't seem to be helping me that much lol.

The epic cards do help but some skill goes a long way and after a bit of time you should have at least some level 3 or 4 cards for the classes you play

Maybe its related to the insane lag today, but collision detection is absolutely busted too. It keeps showing me crashing into things that I'm not even close to when I'm flying. However this was happening all week before the lag issues, so I don't know I think it just needs some tweaking. Other than the lag andd that collision weirdness I'm liking the game.
