Speaking of Division, man, Ubisoft has hit gold with their new IP's this gen. Watch Dogs, Division, to a lesser extent even The Crew. For honour had a good reception in the beta they had aswell, I can see that selling well.

Ubisoft has had great success launching new IPs. We'll see if those IPs have legs as a franchise in terms of growth potential.

Ditto. Although it will be interesting to see how Watch dogs 2 does.

Gears of War Series (2nd week sales)

[Week 39, 2011] 02 (01) GEARS OF WAR 3 (MICROSOFT) - 77,500 / 400,500 (-76%)

[Week 42, 2016] 04 (02) GEARS OF WAR 4 (MICROSOFT) < 22,400 / < 116,400 (-76%)

Oof... That's not good...

Interesting Battlefield numbers. Looking at the amount of players it has the opening should be enormous.

I guess it's just gonna do huge numbers in NPD

Even being optimistic and assuming higher than average digital that's not really that good for the franchise.

Personally for me in UK it felt like "just another game" releasing really vs a big franchise entry dropping. The focus feels like its been on Battlefield and the sales definitely reflect this.

CoD will sell double both battlefield 1 and titanfall 2 combined. Theres a reason people call consoles cod and fifa machines in the UK.

Judgement had what 4x-5x the install base of X1
As a core franchise though Gears should drive install base spike to support itself, in a similar manner to say Halo (if at a lower baseline).

I think the takeaway seems to be the interested demographic has shrunk and most have an Xbox already.

It seems fair to assume MS bothered to buy the IP because they felt it could drive install base and operate as a core pillar franchise: on that basis the results (at least for U.K.) aren't terrific on that front (although to be fair unlike last gen, unless I'm getting mixed up, Gears launched after Halo instead of before it which could be the issue).

Wow I expected much more for BF1. Wonder how EA Access is affecting XB1 numbers. No split though is disappointing.

Changing my TF2 prediction to 80k BTW. Keeping CoD at 600k

Why is Mafia 3 holding so well? Has it already gone down in price or what.

It was quite a big week for EA, having claimed both first and second places in the charts.
Battlefield 1 debuted in top spot and managed to outsell the combined week one sales of both 2013's Battlefield 4 and 2015's Battlefield Hardline. EA's new entry in the franchise represented 45.05 per cent of weekly UK sales.

Market Data, Week Ending October 22nd - 605,162 units / £22m

Battlefield 1 - 272,625 (100%) / 258,994 (95%)

PlayStation VR World sales dropped by 86% in its second week.

Note: It is possible that MCV is talking about revenue instead of unit sales, in that case these numbers would be wrong.

Big drop for Rise of the Tomb Raider, I didn't expect it to miss the top 5.

The Xbox One version of Battlefield 1 sold over 4,400 copies not 4,200.

And he should be more consistent with the cumulative sales numbers because last week he said Fifa 17 had exceed 300,000 units on PlayStation 4, while this week he has said that it has almost sold 280,000 units.

So TF sold more in the UK than in the rest of Europe the first half.

Going to put down 92k for TF2. Could be well wrong given its now on two main console platforms and a well known ip but the hype of TF1 from all those events around the world and the praise from games to press was quite incredible pre-release. This feels like a stealth launch in comparison. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't like to extrapolate from Amazon, specially because I don't even know its market share, but there the PlayStation 4 version of World of Final Fantasy outsold Titanfall 2, so...

Amazon.co.uk Bestsellers in PC & Video Games for October 2016

4. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (PS4)
9. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (Xbox One)
26. World of Final Fantasy: Day One Edition (PS4)

Well shit https://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=2543&s=1111

‘Battlefield 1’ (-39%) defends its title for a second week despite the debuts of several new titles.

While both Battlefield 3 & 4 saw second week declines of 54%, Battlefield 1 delivers a strong second week (-39%) to comfortably claim its second crown. For Bethesda’s ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition’ it means a second place debut. Despite not claiming top spot it’s still a hugely successful debut for the Xbox One and PS4 version. It sits second behind 2011’s original in terms of best debut launch weeks in the Elder Scrolls series. ‘Fifa 17’ (-6%) has only a slight slowdown in sales but drops down a place to No3 in its 5th week on chart.
EA make it three titles in the Top 4 this week as ‘Titanfall 2’ lands at No4. The sequel to 2014’s Microsoft exclusive (Xbox One / 360 and PC) can’t match the debut heights of the original, which claimed top spot at launch (as well as 4 subsequent No1 crowns). It does however add both a single player campaign and a PS4 to its list of formats this time round. ‘Farming Simulator 17’ ploughs its way to No5 following its Tuesday release. The series’ popularity continues to grow with sales up almost 54% on PS4 and 32% on Xbox One over Farming Simulator 15. (Farming Simulator 16 was solely for PS Vita in the UK). Bandai Namco’s ‘Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’ also claims a Top 10 spot at No7 in its debut week. Retailer promotions help ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (+89%) and ‘Forza Horizon 3’ (+11%) deliver positive sales growth at No9 and No10.

A second RPG title in the form of Square Enix’s ‘World of Final Fantasy’ is another debutant this week but lands just outside the Top 10 at No11. ‘Just Dance 2017’ is new at No26 as Ubisoft’s latest release breathes some life into Nintendo formats particularly Wii, which claims a 44% share and Wii U a further 16%. The final new release to claim a Top 40 spot is Telltales’ ‘Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure’ at No31. The new edition features every episode and bonus content on the disc since the original ‘Story Mode’ launched almost a year ago.

Titanfall 2 < FIFA 2017 = 63K

Bummer about World of Final Fantasy just missing the top 10. Hopefully it'll look better on the individual charts.

Also, yeah, shame about Titanfall 2. EA really fucked up there.

Well, checking the individual formats chart 60,000 is an optimistic figure because Titanfall 2 XBO is at best 30,000 since it is below both Fifa 17 XBO and PS4 versions, and the PS4 SKU is below Gears of Wars 4 which must have surely sold less than 20,000 units.

I guesstimate < 50,000 for Titanfall 2.

^ To think Primethius super lowball prediction is still higher than what Titanfall 2 actually sold. Jesus Christ!

Yeah, felt like a stealth launch for Titanfall. Credit to Primethius.

Think it will do well in the sales though, especially with a decent campaign.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is the best-selling remaster after Grand Theft Auto V which sold a whopping 400,000 units in its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version debut.

This is actually quite frustrating - Titanfall 2 deserves so much more, hopefully good word of mouth will help give it legs.

I picked both it and Skyrim up.

Dayum, TF2 sales makes Gears look good. Even the most pessimistic were higher.

What a complete bomb.

But just totally expected the way they've handled the franchise.

I'm not sure we'll see a 3rd. Respawn might as well move on to something else now. CoD will seal its fate.

Titanfall 2 really, REALLY should have been delayed until early next year. All EA can hope for now is heavy sales and building the playerbase up, but with these sales a potential TF3 is as good as dead, and respawn probably wont be far behind them. Really sad.

Edit: I'll wait for CoD sales, but it definetly feels that market trends have shifted away from Modern and Advanced warefare settings, and I'd go as far as to say that the market has started to move away from the gameplay style of CoD in general. And, no, BF1 plays nothing like CoD.

Reapawn is already working on a Star Wars game for EA. And I could also see MS contracting a game for them if it came down to it

Well thank god. The talent is clearly there. After TF2's singleplayer, a Star Wars game from them would be absolutely great. Better yet, imagine Dice being relieved of Battlefront duties and Respawn taking over. Yum.
