Omiai Aite wa Oshiego, Tsuyokina, Mondaiji - EP 1

Never have I been so caught off guard by an anime in my life. Holy shit.

EDIT:

Omiai Aite wa Oshiego, Tsuyokina, Mondaiji ep.1

THIS IS FUCKING HENTAI!

It is not what I was expecting it to be at all.

What's up with the softcore porn anime lately? Seems like there's been at least one of them each season in the last few months.

I only mean "softcore" in the sense that there doesn't seem to be any straight fuckin' in these shows. Just lots of explicit foreplay.

Can't be more hentai then Scum's Wish...

I thought the episodes that were in theaters were the OVAs? At least the one near me were.

Edit: To answer, I watched the ones that are up on Crunchyroll.

The ones you saw were the OVAs (prequel) not the actual TV series that's airing on Saturday.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
There's no fucking in anything regardless of how lewd it is.

I remember there was a sex scene in Parasyte and my ex-wife was legitimately confused what was happening because nobody ever gets down in anime.

There's sex in Monster, although it's not explicit.

Gintama. Slip Arc 1

Gintama is funny again. And it's good again. This was hilarious. Between all those ridiculous faces and over the top behaviors of Gintoki and Umibozu, the episode got me good. I totally missed Gintama's humor.

I understand that. What I'm saying is that when the episodes come to my theater they were showing the OVAs. Unless their marketing for it completely f'd it up. Which could've happened.

Lol. I was like, "this is new. People in anime shows never get together like this."

Ah... the more innocent times...

Osomatsu s2 ep1 The Return of Might Kaiser!

Well, that was unexpected. The giant robot they summoned and appeared in the opening was based on the Might Kaiser from Might Gaine. It was the first upgrade for the protagonist, but only remains as the main robot for about four episodes, which always really annoyed me.

Also, they kind of forgot about the body switch gimmick once the robot battle started.

Looks like I'm late to the new thread. Ironically, it's because I was watching anime, haha! Outside of my preview slate (which is probably bigger than it needed to be, but I feel like giving some of these smaller shows a chance), I haven't really formulated a solid idea of what I'm interested in outside of several sequels this season. I guess there's nothing specifically catching my interest, though I'm hoping to be surprised as I check stuff out.

As for the stuff I was watching today, well it's mostly just finishing up the end of last season and making sure I get caught up in time for this season.

Made in Abyss 13
What a way to end a season! I'd been really taken with this show more than basically anything else from summer outside of Monogatari, but never in my wildest dreams would I imagine it would end on such a high note. I think what sold most of these scenes was the commitment to embracing the horrific side of this show and not shying away from the violence, and the frankly stunning performances of the voice actors selling every ounce of the drama. Neither of those things are new for this series, but I think it helped the show reach an emotional peak I wasn't convinced it was capable of. It'll be such a shame if there's no future seasons after this one, but if it had to end here, what a fantastic way to bow out.

Fate/Apocrypha 13
It's taken a while, but despite a rough start to the large-scale battle that followed many episodes of remarkably interesting setup, the conclusion of the first cour had me intrigued about where things were going to go. Thankfully, the second cour wastes no time in making the most of the changes in the status quo by radically changing the nature of the conflict and shaking up the team structure which was growing somewhat stale. Combine that with some actual character growth for our primary protagonist (and setting him up to participate more directly from here on out), Mordred finally deciding to take a side in the conflict, and a specific villain with a goal less nebulous than the threat of the first cour, and you have all the ingredients for an exciting action show that seems to be making the most of its premise now that all the pieces are in place.

March Comes In Like a Lion 1-2
Having missed out on this series when it initially aired as it started the season before I really started watching anime routinely again, I've been eager for an excuse to go back and check it out, and the incoming second season seems to be as good an excuse as any. I commend Shaft for committing to transmuting the source material as thoroughly as they do, transforming it into something indistinguishable from their other works. But if there's one thing that sets it apart from their other seminal works of late, it's the writing. It's been a while since I've watched a show that managed to walk that fine line between comedy and drama without feeling tonally dissonant or incredibly cheap in its emotional manipulation, but March Comes In Like a Lion manages to make them feel consistent, even more so when some of the facts of the main characters' circumstances comes to light. For a show that's had only about 50 minutes to hook me, I'm already thoroughly invested in their lives and eager to see more.

Lol if it came to your theater it should of been the TV series rather than the OVAs.

Osomatsu S2 1

Why even watch anything else this season? I wasn't prepared. Very creative and kind of vulgar, in its own way, this was a really strong opening.

So what Soma material do we think this season is going to cover?

Through Eizan match if one cour, and through Hayama match/issuing the challenge if two cours would be my guess.

Vandread:

Back when there was Gonzo, even shows with mediocre premise could turn good. Not all of course, but chances were much higher than today. I had to watch it because I had wasted my time with Stellvia back then. One of the good space opera shows. Surprisingly, fanservice was tamer than in Code Geass. And a granny for ship captain is not something you see very often.

What is this...Stellvia was the superior show. Vandread was harem trash, though entertaining trash at times I will admit.

Right?

Well then my theater lied to me. Or Crunchyroll didn't give them the correct info.

Dammit...

It's pretty freakin' good.

Was Chise a little kid for most of the episodes, or was she a teen/young adult?

If she was a kid, you watched the OVAs, if she was older you watched the TV series.
