Battlefront II |OT| I find your lack of crates disturbing

It's a general problem with ps4, pc and Xbox. On huge maps there's a lot of server lag and you have a lot of rubber banding moments where your character is moving forward and suddently teleports 2 steps back. It's very frustrating.

You better look into what's killing your bandwidth. The only time I noticed any lag was when I was playing in a house with three Hulu/Netflix streams at the same time. I've played on PS4 almost exclusively (a little on Xbone) and it's smooth as silk.

Got this on sale Friday and am already bored it. The progression system is probably the worst I have seen in a game. Only saving grace is the Starfighter mode, and as much as I like Starfighter, the controls are terrible.

Get good. Honestly. I'm a Starfighter Ace now after bungling through the first five hours or so. Also, the progression is convoluted but not difficult. Target specific star cards, craft them, use them. Every star card you craft increases the level of that troop/character/ship. Get to level 5 you get to use two cards, level 10 you use three.

I'm not saying it's as simple as other competitors, but in a world with massive skill trees and hundreds of weapons, the confusion this system causes is baffling.

Where did I say I was confused at all? I perfectly understand the progression system and how it works. What I said it that it was garbage. What they should do is instead of awarding credits at the end of matches, they should just award crafting parts and do away with the loot crates all together. I don't mind the card system itself. Just annoyed every time I open a crate, 2 of my items are always poses or taunts.

And I never said I was not good at Starfighter, I am usually top 6. I said the controls are garbage. They should be more like Elite Dangerous, or a proper flight sim. Also, the controls should be mappable. Their schemes are stupid and counter-intuitive to those who may have played flight sims in the past, and the starfighter sensitivity does absolutely nothing. I put it to zero, and there was no change to the handling of the starfighter at all.

Should probably cool it on the fanboi get good stuff before knowing what somebody is actually talking about.

I agree that starfighter controls are pure garbage with no way to change them...

I mean they are servicable, but awkward for no reason. It's like Ace Combat 4 never happened...

Ok, I finally got my rental copy from Gamefly on Friday. I played through it on Saturday and on the hardest difficulty took me roughly over 5 hours or so. I thought it was good. Not great, but good. They did kind of leave you hanging there at the end. That would explain why they have a couple of new missions coming. Makes me think the campaign was not 100% complete before releasing the game. No surprise there. Publishers and Developers have gotten into the nasty habit of releasing incomplete games this gen with the hopes of patching it up or releasing it has paid DLC (looking at you Destiny 1 and 2).

Yes yes yes!
Then I tried Strike. Smaller map size, quicker pace, more paths around murder hallways, quicker credit payout... I'm loving this mode.

Tried some Strike and yeah 16 man is great just like 20 man Blast. Can really rack up the points in Strike playing the objective. My favorite so far is Maz's Castle on Blast. We do a full on "The Worm" style (Blops 2 camper): 3x Heavy w/ Ion Turrets up, add a few Specialists w/ claymores on the stairways. Best fun camping since Blops 2 Hijacked on Captain's deck. If not camp trolling then Assault in courtyard area w/ Vanguard is amazing shotty action. First time popped Vanguard off bat in Maz's castle and ended up flanking and behind all 10 enemy was amazing.

And stuttering. Can't play the 40 ppl modes because the PS4 goes laggy as hell when there's some major shit happening (90% of the time lol).

No stutter on Galactic Assault for me and my buds. All PS4 pro so can't speak to PS4. Plays smooth on my PS4 Pro. My cousin came over and played 2 games of Blast before he realized he was not on my 1600x Vega 56 rig but instead on PS4 Pro xim4 setup. I mainly notice difference of framerate & no Freesync but by and large similar experience.

I enjoyed the campaign as a nice bonus to a multiplayer-focused game.

If you buy it for the campaign, it will be a disappointment for sure. There are some interesting missions, but it mostly feels like Arcade mode with cut scenes.

And, yeah, I also thought that the game wasn't done in time for release. It ends so abruptly. I don't think it was plan A to release single-player content as DLC. We are just getting the rest of the campaign they intended to give us in the first place.

Spoiler discussion:

The transition of Iden to the Rebels was also very abrupt. It felt to me like there must have originally been a couple more dark side missions of her learning how evil the empire was before she switched sides. And also more of an explanation as to how she had not previously seen the Empire doing evil stuff to civilians.

So, with the new movie coming tomorrow they dropped a MAJOR update today. I haven't played the 3 new campaign levels yet, but I've played a fair amount of Hero mode with Finn and Phasma and the new Crait Galactic Assault map is (in my opinion) the best map in the entire game.

For those who haven't played - I chose the Light Side as my faction, and I was surprised to have insta-access to both Finn and Phasma, but I *did* have to cough up 5k credits for Phasma's ship in Starfighter Assault. Of course, since I've played the hell out of the game and unlocked everything else, I had plenty of credits just lying around to unlock that ship.

It cannot be understated that Crait is a really cool, epic-feeling level. I know they wanted to hold it back till the movie released, but it would have been nice to have this level for the past month. It's the closest thing to a real "war" level this game has, outside of Starfighter Assault, which is plenty war-time.

I know I'm considered an EA shill for my support of this game, but this first batch of free DLC seems really solid... pending playing the campaign levels, of course.

It is a 10 gig download, though. So be ready for that!

I feel the same way, it's not perfect but there's great moments, even more so as a huge Star Wars fan.

Multi maps are great, gonna play the new missions tonight

Had a 10 GB patch on XOX last night. Anyone knows what's that about? Didn't get the chance to start the game.

Read a few posts up and you would have had your answer. It's the Last Jedi update including some new campaign missions, new multiplayer maps, new heroes and a bunch of fixes

So what's the deal with these campaign missions, it feels like they are drip feeding us the original campaign as it continues right where the campaign finished in the release version. Was this always intended to be like an episodic release single player story or have they just chopped it up and are drip feeding it to make it feel like we are getting free DLC?

Either way I'm not complaining because I enjoyed the campaign and any more content is welcome.

The added levels happen just at the same time episode 7 happens and it ends just at the start of ep.8 dropping some hints of what could happen in that movie so it's a good move that makes the waiting for the movie more pleasant.

Ahh, I guess that's a pretty cool idea

Haven't played this in several weeks. Waiting to see what the next wave of DLC ends up being. (Some have speculated that they're done supporting the game, but that seems unlikely at this point.)

That new jetpack mode is fun.

Still haven't played the Crait small map. Only time it has come up the lobby emptied and never refilled. -_-

I tried to get into this game but every time I join one of those big games I get destroyed from far away without even seeing anyone. I think the one I joined was Kashyyyk or something. Very confusing. The robot droid enemies there are really skinny and hard to see. I watched some YT footage and the guy playing did shoot mostly at red markers without really seeing the guy he is shooting at. Is that was this game is?
The small games which are essential TDM are fun though.

Also other stuff that doesn't interest me...but the game keeps giving...apart from new bugs. And a new map...Felucia...sometime this year

Sauce

The game still has bugs...but trust in the force...

You can fight even an invisible Dooku :messenger_sunglasses:

And game is dirt cheap again on all formats...where my cuz is playing better as his For Honor skills helps him to achieve flawless runs with randoms :messenger_poop:

So get it now!

This is an old post, I but yeah it's not just you. I hold my own fine in the small modes, but the large modes often turn into "get roflstomped from extreme distance by a dude I never saw" simulator.

Combat is still fun though, and I'm digging the new content. I like how the new stuff is usable in offline modes too. My son (he's 7 and obviously can't compete online) loves the droidekas and Sith Troopers.

I saw a bunch of people on Battlefield sub hyping this game recently. Is it actually good now, What have they actually added?
The main thing they've added is co-op. This alone makes the game really fun because you're not getting oneshotted by a pixel from the other side of the map. Co-op is four player teaming up fighting AI for control points on the map. Sound crap but plays great. You can level up, play the heroes and it's very "Star Wars" in a weird way that playing the other modes isn't.

So far there is the Prequel era and Sequel era, hopefully the OT will be added in the new year for this mode.

They've added an era select, tweaked the he'll out of the whole game and it's good these days.

And they added the republic commandos from the game Republic Commando, I screamed like a little girl when I got to play as them. It is absolutely fantastic.

Got this game (ps4) on sale and while I do love the graphics and the feel I despise the card system. I’ve just stayed out of normal multiplayer due to everybody having broken purple cards that one shot the fuck out of me even when I obviously got the jump on them.

coop is fun but it always seems like we get rolled by the ai on defend. as somebody with good aim is their a certain strategy to help carry on last point defense?

That's totally fake. There's not a single trooper card that increases the damage of your weapons. Purple cards give a slight advantage or change a bit your arsenal and utilities but NEVER damage or total HP.

If you are getting outshot it's because they are headshotting you or because you should improve your aim.

So I tried out the multiplayer after over one year to see why theres suddenly such a hype for this game. Turns out its still the same shit sadly, except that loot boxes are now gone.

Everyone runs around with purple cards having either 40%+ more health than you or some other bullshit. The Calling Card system is UTTERLY SHIT. There's not even a game mode for new players for multiplayer, you just go in, get REKT by lvl 30+ players and thats it.

Shame.

That's not how it works. There are no health buffs via cards.

The 20v20 modes can indeed be daunting though. Maybe try the 8v8 modes until you're in the swing of things.

While there are no direct health buffs, there are some resistances to explosive damage, acid, etc. There are also some cards that shorten cooldowns so if you have a self-heal, that's a decent advantage. Still though in the craziness of the large maps, those things don't make a massive difference. I've found the bigger difference is having more of the weapons unlocked plus their mods, the EL-16 rifle or whatever it's called, is a must have imo.

After binging The Mandolorian, I felt urged to try the game out again. Your experience sounds very similar to mine. Ended up putting it down.

Awesome. I was afraid I would be forced to play the shitty Sequel trilogy in coop and supremacy. Now they just have to add the filters to all the other modes and we are golden.

They still adding content to this game?

They never stopped. We had heroes like Grievous, ObiWan, Anakin, Dooku, the 2 BB droids. Reinforcements like the Droideka, Clone commando and ARC, new modes with capital ships, Geonosis...

It's a complete different game now a d all for free.
