I adore the art direction in Splatoon 2. Let's use this thread to share some of our favorite screens, taken with the Switch's capture button.

Fresh fashions, cool vistas, quirky enemies, choice bits of dialogue — let's appreciate it here.

Some nice screens you have there - looking at them, a Splatoon Spin-Off cant be too far off. The Artstyle and World are just too popular for Nintendo to not tackle a different genre with those characters.

What do you mean by "permanent trails?" I noticed that you can see ink on the Inklings' soles while they're walking in ink (not sure if that's a new touch or if it was also in Splatoon 1). But any ink you lay down can be layered over by the other team's ink.

Although it's cool how viscous the ink looks in this game. Like it doesn't look like a flat texture; rather, it looks like it has some volume to it, and appears to be thicker in places where it's layered over another color.

And the ink in Hero Mode has glitter!

The shops in the Galleria will only serve you at lv. 4 or higher, yeah. So if you want to buy gear from Ye Olde Cloth Shop, Shella Fresh or Headspace, you'll need to level up a bit first.

Well, except for Ammo Knights — Sheldon will start selling you new weapon sets at lv. 2 and up.

Can't find a good shot of it, but see how there's a clear trail in the ink behind the player? (Player is facing the camera)

Oh, are you talking about that indentation running through the middle of the ink (or am I seeing things here)? You're saying that the player leaves an impression in the ink after walking across it, right? I don't think I noticed that since I'm always looking forward, lol.

Yeah it's a nice detail. Often times you'll find yourself running through other players' trails.

Are you moving the memory card to upload pictures or is there some other way?

I save to a microSD card, then completely power off the system, safely eject it, put the card in the SD adapter (bundled with each microSD), and put it in my laptop. Then I just copy/paste the files to my desktop, and from there upload them online using abload.de.

@Kinokou: What do you mean by the first game's ink having a more matte look?

This game is so gorgeous. It's amazing what Nintendo has been able to churn out of this little mobile device. Can't wait to see what things are looking like a couple years from now.

Yeah, it's incredible a portable can produce graphics of this caliber. The screen itself is gorgeous too -- crystal clear, with vibrant colors and solid blacks. This and Mario Kart and ARMS are all stunning on a TV at 1080p 60fps, of course, but still unreal in your hands at 720p. It's like holding a Pixar movie you can control. Amazing how far technology has come.

I'd like a Squid Beats spinoff in the vein of Project Diva, starring Squid Sisters and Off The Hook and Wet Floor and all these other bands. There could be a concert campaign for each that shows their lives behind the scenes and further develops the concept of pop culture in Inkopolis.

Now i doubt that's true

i am getting a small squid sister tattoo on my back shoulder area later this year or early 2018. Probably based on my profile pic unless i can find cooler art that represents them both well in the maintime.

I kid about the waifu war part a bit tho, i just like Splatoon alot and want something to represent the series and i like the squid sisters the best + the first game kinda helped me through a tough situation and enjoying the sequel a whole freaking lot so far.

Will post some screens very soon just got home from some irl obligations. Btw do i need a micro sd card to set screens over or can i hook my switch wth a usb c cable to my laptop?

Only if you have an amiibo. It currently works with all of them.

First, you go to the amiibo box in the back of Inkopolis Square. Tap your amiibo to the controller (either right Joycon or center of Pro Controller).

If you haven't assigned a user and amiibo name, you'll be prompted to do so, then rescan.

The amiibo will come to life in its clear plastic prison, and offer to memorize your current control settings. Say "yes" or it'll disappear.

Next, the amiibo gives you some gifts. Each gives you three pieces in a set, like the schoolgirl uniform from the orange Inkling. They also give you music for Squid Beats.

And then they offer to take pictures with you — either as is, or wearing gear you've assigned to them. Assign gear by hitting X, scrolling over to Other, then amiibo, then tap the amiibo to the controller to copy your current gear.

This is a pretty cool feature, since when you're in the multiplayer lobby you can swap gear (as well as gender, skin color, etc) simply by tapping in.

At any rate, in photo mode, you can rotate the camera, choose from four different poses for each Inkling (including a dancing pose), and also change the backdrop.

You need to clear Hero Mode to use the Callie and Marie amiibo, though.

Yes pressing ZR will make you go in First Person View and pressing ZL while in first person view will hide the cursor.

I'm guessing the drawings that appear in Inkopolis square are hand picked by someone, because pretty much all of them are brilliant or hilarious. There's one right now that has a kawaii Jabba the Hutt with kittens crawling on him.

I think it's all a matter of retweets. Jeff Gerstmann's "Knack to the Future" was basically in everyone's Inkopolis.

Ah right, that would make sense. I've just seen one with three butts pooping next to each other. I'm pretty sure Nintendo wouldn't have chosen that one to display.

Remember on Wii U when you just had to press the home button, open an image uploader in the browser, and the screenshot was there ready to upload and post on GAF.

On Switch I only get the option to upload to FB or Twitter, which I don't particularly want to do. Ugh.

I made a twitter account specifically to upload photos to my pc. Its a really good quick and easy way to get them there without having to take the card out
