I'll concede that point, the expensive ones targeted at businesses are good, but I was referring more to the home space (since that's what we're already talking about in regards to tablets), as not many home users are going to spend five grand on an all-in-one device.
I don't doubt that some all in one devices are bad, I just disagree with the rule that specialised devices are always better in all circumstances, even if limited to home use. Sometimes specialised devices make less sense. Did you buy a DivX player?

Well that's the thing. IMO you're better off buying a netbook or ultrabook as well as a tablet, because both devices will do a better job than most of the ones that dock. Sure, it costs more, but you're getting much, much better devices out of the deal. IMO, of course.
The Windpad basically is a netbook, just without the KBAM. I prefer think of as that, rather than a tablet that can do some PC stuff :)

The transformer looks good bit for $800 its a bit rich for my blood. I'm suddenly really keen to get a tab, might go and browse some this afternoon.
I'm lucky enough to be going to the US next week. US$500 (for the base Prime without dock) from B&H shipped to a friend means it comes out at AU$466.

Haha i saw that on Facebook the other day, unfortunately a group of animal right people decided to complain about how horrible it was. Despite the cockatoo obviously in mind blowing joy.

also manly vs NZ is an amazing game. Why can't there be midday nrl on every week?

Well, no, some multifunctions are of course fine. I still think the original point is valid even if you take issue with some of the wording.

Sometimes I worry that image will cause people to actually pay money to see the movie it's from. Or even worse, spend time watching it.

Or like Indiana Jones? God, I waited so long to see the melty faces, and then when they finally open the box it just cuts to a storm and then everyone is gone. =/ Thankyou channel 10.

WHAT?! Fucking hell, it is a 30 year old effect with plasticine, I think the kids can handle it. What did they do with what his face that picks the wrong cup in Last Crusade?

It was 9:30 by this point too, as if little kids are still up then. They did keep showing barbies ads though, so who knows.

Oh god not nostalgia ausgaf again:eek:

The Witches was great but kinda scary at the time. Square feet!!

I also remember The Twits and BFG being just as good.

I only read the books.

I feel disgusted in myself for laughing at that now. =/
Same :(

Its ok to laugh cause its an Australian bird that made it big in hollywood!
Nicole Kidman isn't funny :(

PS. The Witches was a creepy as fuck movie. I really didn't like it as a kid because of how scary it was :(

But you know what I'd like, though? A Twits movie. Probably in CG, a la Despicable Me (ie. not realistic characters, obv). It needs to happen.

Oh, AusGAF. Listen to this. I found it while Shazamming a completely different song I came across and it's awesome. I think most here would like it. Reptile in particular, but almost certainly others :)

Its like a cycle of politics through nostalgia through cricket talk, the occasional game discussion and something about fake meetups that never eventuate.

Can't find one of those MSI tablets in Adelaide, I'm not dropping 800 without trying the damn things. The dock doesn't have keyboard, just a stand and some ports, not sure I like that.

Nothing will ever match

Jim Henson knew a thing or two.
Don't know, I always thought these fuckers came close. Still Henson magic though.

I don't think it was as scary as some of the other Roald Dahl, who wrote some really messed up books now that I think about it. But I always thought it would be cool to be an animal, I guess that's why I liked it /weirdkid. Paul Jennings had some really scary stories too, like the one where the boy fed lemons to a fox skin and it turned out the lemon tree was where the fox gizzards were so it came back to life.

Shame you can't find one. I haven't had a look around either, but I'm holding off as this totally happened a few weeks ago and is likely to happen again (I'd think). Sale was only about a week before I decided to brick my laptop by way of a BIOS flash gone awry, so I missed out :/

The Storyteller series (MOAR HENSON. NONSTOP HENSON CHANNEL) was wonderfully unsettling, too.

The devil in the sack. The stepmother who made jumpers that turned the princes into ravens.

Visually it was a lot scarier than it should have been, considering it was for kids. The witches themselves were *horrible*.

Have you seen the Acer Iconia? Similar idea but the dock is more like the Asus one.

The Witches was scary for me because my piano teacher was this cranky Czech woman who wore a wig and had like a missing toe and weird feet. I totally remember trying to convince my mum she was a witch!

I don't think I read many Paul Jennings books. Maybe one or two, they always had freaky covers. I was a Selby fan, the series about that awesome talking dog. I guess Goosebumps was ok as well lol.

haha! I would have thought that too!

I was always to afraid to read goosebumps, so when it came to really long series' I went with animorphs :p I think I read a couple of Selby books though. And Andy Griffiths Just Annoying etc books.

This just in: Ricki-Lee to sing the national anthem at the Australian Grand Prix in a couple of weeks.

Due recognition and just reward for the lass, and may it go some way to healing the emotional damage she has suffered at the hands of those here. Thread title in particular is very harsh.

Clive Palmer was today one of seven Australians named as a National Living Treasure by the New South Wales Branch of the National Trust.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-03-04/27living-treasure27-palmer-takes-swipe-at-swan/3867588

lol wtf.

I find this a bit morbid,
"The naming of seven new National Living Treasures was to replace seven now-deceased members of the list"

The list is a joke and is voted on by the public so yeah.
Although Palmer's inclusion seems to have been at the behest of the NSW Trust if I'm reading this correctly: smh article

smh said:
The source, who is close to the competition, has revealed concerns were raised even when Mr Palmer's name was included on a list of 100 final nominees, the magazine providing some celebrity names and the National Trust (NSW) insisting on others, including Mr Palmer.

I hate the whole concept of formalising living treasures. It is ridiculous.

Indeed. Leave it be at Australian of the Year awards, OAMs and such.

I don't understand the point of Australian of the Year when we have a formal honours system. Unless the government is about to establish the Order of the Australian of the Year we could surely do away with it.
