Wow...looking at hours, I feel kinda bad. I just completed Mission 15 with 50 side ops done, and am sitting at almost 43 hours. I'm going to be playing this for some time it seems, which is fine.

Yup. Tried to retaliate against a rival that invaded and kept getting this message each attempt. Luckily you have a 7 day window it seems where you can try to get your resources back / get your revenge. Unless they build a
nuke
before that! Pretty sure if they have one and you don't, the game locks you out of invading them.

Killed 2 invaders today and killed 3 defenders all were cheap RPG users but good thing I'm handy with a sniper rifle.

I would love a VR missions style DLC. Just missions and side ops. No fucking horrible excuse for story.

Just give me hours and hours more of infiltration

I think so? It isn't really clear. That's what I've been assuming.

Well, I'm trying to get it to the highest level to develop the F.O.B. device that requires it before I throw my good soldiers back in the Combat unit. Spoilers for those that don't want to know:
Highest item develop for Security Team requires level 30, yeah? Nothing higher?

Just finished mission 20. I tried to be clever and use my
water pistol
but it didn't work. Is it not possible or did I just mess up?

First thing I don't like about this game.

It SUCKS in remote play. ;)

To interrogate someone you need to use like a million different fingers at once.

I must say I'm having some difficulty avoiding detection. My first run is always my best, the minute I have to restart I become ill-disciplined and try and force the issue. I've just stopped playing after 4 hours and I have retina burn of a white semi-circle from all the times I've been spotted...

Having such great fun though, the side ops are well worth doing and in some cases more challenging than the missions. This is the game MGS should always have been, those genius gameplay segments finally given room to develop into something fulfilling.

Managing your staff mechanics feel kind of rough.

Needed rockets
Assigned everyone to R&D
Developed rocket launcher
Everyone back to their business.

Actually, is there even a point having staff in R&D dept, except the moment when you're actually developing new weapons and items ?

And question: can you still move combat staff when you have soldiers on a mission ? If so, id imagine increasing and especially decreasing combat level mid-mission affects the outcome ?

Also: auto managing staff needs prioritizing options.

Just a heads up 'cause even I'm forgetting: the new OT is over here!

You're pretty early game, I take it? Later on you'll want a full array of A+ and beyond soldiers for each department to reach the high levels of research. E-B ranks give nothing compared to them, and you'll be heavily constrained by Mother Base's troop capacity, so you won't be able to just dump soldiers into each department to reach research requirements.

As to the combat staff, AFAIK they do nothing on the field as far as level is concerned. Intel department will be the only one affecting combat with their reports, by giving you more info on the field. What the combat department can do is gives you the opportunity to deploy combat units instead of Snake, which can be advantageous depending on the unit's combat rank and specific skill.

So the DLC with the Fox tattooed staff is lame. They give you shitty people, with foxes tattooed on their faces.

So when you unlock them, so they can go out in the field and rank up, Miller fucking dismisses them. Ridiculous.

These aren't staff members that you can just find. They're unique and now two of them are permanently gone. Wtf

Can someone explain the Obtainable Skills/Blueprints section of the missions for me?

If for example mission 10 has four things there, does that mean I can rescue and get up to 4 of those specialists? Why are some of the things highlighted while others are greyed out? And if I miss something during the first run of a mission, can I go back and do the mission again (Ex. If I missed the transportation specialist in mission 10, can I replay it to get him)?

It's basically just a list of the specialists/blueprints that you can obtain in that mission.

As for your questions:
Yes, if a mission has, for example, four obtainable skills/blueprints listed, then you can get all 4 in one go. The greyed out stuff means you got those already. If you miss something, you can go back and attempt to get it again but I think you need to finish the mission to make it count (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this).

Yikes, that
African airport cargo
mission with the surprise
Skulls
is TERRIBLE.

Try to evade fire?
Cargo explodes.

Try to drive out?
Cargo explodes.

Try to use tanks against the enemy?
Cargo explodes

It's so weird too because after a certain distance, they all just focus their fire on the cargo and blow it up within seconds. It's bizzarre, took like 6 tries to figure out how to engage them without having the cargo explode within 30 seconds.

I just did that mission myself. Did not enjoy it at all. First time I tried they drove off. Didn't even get the enemies.

Kojima still missing from my staff.

How do you get him?

I don't know why people are so pissed off with Mission 16. I actually quite enjoyed the fight with
The Skulls.
I had a harder time tailing the truck.

Only gotten a few missions into Afghanistan so far, but this is definitely the best opening to an MGS ever. Far more focus on controlling the game than sitting through exposition dumps and overbearing storytelling, which is great. GZ was a good indicator of the full game, after all.

MGSV is a lot longer then I was expecting. 30% total completion, 23 missions completed, and 64 hours of total playtime so far. You'll hear no complaints from me though!

EDIT: Meant for the 2nd OT. Whoops...

Gonna take a break from dispatch missions. Ended up losing an A rank soldier in one of the missions, and he was a damn good solider too. He had received a Medal for his service from previous missions. ;_;7

Completed Missions 9 and 10 and I finally have DD to come with me on missions. Still trying to get the hang of having him kill enemies. The pop up of enemies being spotted by DD can get overwhelming especially in big areas but I think I'll get over it.

Also completed Mission 12, and my God not only was it a clusterfuck when I got to the initial goal, but it was a real pain in the ass. That fucking mission nearly took me two hours >.<

With that out of the way, I finally have Africa unlocked. I'm gonna stick to doing a few more side-ops in Afghanistan before moving to the next area
