Trying to spin that as anything other than NiGHTS when the image was pretty obviously deliberately created to match that is just pathetic. And if it turns out to be anything other than NiGHTS, whatever credibility this magazine had (I've never followed it closely before, and I've never jumped on the bandwagon bashing before) is entirely shot.
Just wanted to have a little fun? This is not the way to run a professional magazine, guys, sorry. You don't **** around with people and then laugh it off and expect people to take you seriously, consider you useful contributions to the field, or have any respect for the publication or the people who work there.

Nobody here can actually expect them to come clean about what this is, do you? It's intended to be a teaser, to get people speculating and talking about the magazine. Not only would confriming that it is Nights ruin their story, but breaking the news now would probably piss off Sega in the process. If its not Nights, we still shouldn't expect them to deny it simply becasue it could effect their sales and it would only increase the speculation and cause more demands that they deny or confirm what game it is.
If it not Nights (or something just as good) I can understand people be angry. I don't think we should ban the mag just because we were owned. We're the ones letting our imaginations run (like we always, ALWAYS do). The Nights logo is a very close match, but it's not 100%. It could be something else, but we've only really looked in that one direction. Every site and magazine pulls stunts like this before but we no where near actually banning IGN.

What if the game is actually better than NiGHTs? It could be Panzer Dragoon Saga, or Mother, or Kid Icarus as well. Would you guys really be disappointed if it was one of those games?

Just found another case of their bullshit lying. Issue 1. On the sleeve. "World's first hands-on session with the Revolution controller!". That was the March 06 issue, when the actual world's first session was in SEPTEMBER. You tools.
Oh, and flipping the plastic sleeve over... "World Exclusive! Slimline and sexy! All-new DS Lite revealed inside..."
From issue 1 they've been just plain lying. It's bullshit.

Before the magazine even came out, they were hyping for Capcom's Wii game plans. Luckily for their skins, Twilight Rockstar told us beforehand there were no Wii game announcements. However, on the issue's cardboard sleeve, they claimed the DS Lite was a world exclusive and the world's first hands-on session with the Rev. controller. And inside, there was the power supply = stand cockup.
For a few issues, they kept promising exclusive new Twilight Princess things, never delivering. They did have some new ones in the end, but they weren't new to anyone with eyes, and OMN claimed they were new and exclusive as some people hadn't seen them.
A few more small things here and there, the big lie of claiming they were a good mag... then came BWii. They promised a big, explosive new Wii game: an exclusive. Turns out, it's BWii, which was... already announced. "BUT WE PLAYED IT MORE THAN THEM!" ONM cried, whilst I was busy getting hate for posting "ONM fails at being good" on my site.

The BWii thing was out of their control. Nintendo decided after giving them the 'exclusive', to show the game anyway at that German expo.

Honestly It hasn't aged well at all. I was just playing it a couple weeks ago and yeah, looked a lot worse then my memory. But still is awesome none the less. The issue of it being "misleading" is over whether the image refers to Nights, not whether there is a new game at all. If there isn't a new game at all, that's not being "misleading," that's just lying. The "misleading" part comes in when you mislead people by choosing an image clearly created from artwork for a particular game, than having next month's story not be related to that game.

Ngamer (prev. N64 and NGC) is the one to trust. I remember they had the exclusive 'this is how Zelda works on the Wii' article, probably thanks to Jim Merrick who dissapeared from Nintendo shortly after. They seemed to have good ties with Merrick.

It'll be fun to watch it unfold but the people who are making up this stroy are going to feel the brunt of it from both sides. Look at Joy Stiq and their stupid "Wii big news" and how bad that back fired, same with "two game cubes".

After reading it, the magazine was horrible... rife with factual errors (about ZELDA, no less!) and useless hyperbole veiled as fanboyish enthusiasm. Just awful writing to boot.
And in their first magazine, they pimped the fact that they had an interview with Capcom which was said to reveal the games they were working on for Wii. Not only didn't they reveal a single game they were working on, or their plans for Wii, but the interview itself was atrocious.
Then they said they had a WORLD EXCLUSIVE, of course, of a stunning Wii game... but of course it turned out to be Batallion Wars Wii, which everyone had already seen at Leipzig a week and a half before in video form and with all the information we'd ever need AND direct feed images.
They are such a piece of shit magazine.
