Morgan Stanley releases speculative analysis about Nintendo's NX business

Yes this makes a ton of sense. I never really bought the idea that multiple pieces of hardware could share the same codename, even if they do share the same OS.

Lol, as if it was a surprise it was getting MonHun.

But seriously, yeah, NX is a home console. Weird codename for both.

This doesn't make too much sense though. All those nice slides for investors are kind of contradicted right now. Also all the talk about shared platform. And how NX is not a replacement for Wii U and 3ds.

It's neither.

Statements so far imply NX: global platform, not a console/handheld.

Kimishima has made that clear by saying that NX wouldn't be another Wii U or 3DS.

MH most likely stands for Mobile Hardware, the handheld "component" of the NX platform.

This would explain it somehow, but still strange. Shouldn't also the console get the code name HH (home hardware) then?

I imagine they're using NX as a base for both since their next console is the foundation of their new plans.

No they don't. Those slides all came from before the NX was announced. Nintendo never said the NX would have multiple form factors, that was just the internet conflating two separate ideas together.

The NX and MH will share the same OS, have similar architecture and be developed by the same group within Nintendo but that doesn't mean they're not separate projects.

★9:18 Nintendo - Mitsubishi UFJMS cutting stock price benchmarks, targeting long-range investment
Nintendo <7974.T> continue to see their stock prices fall. At the Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, the new traction for mid-term profit growth is being changed to next-generation game console. As a target for long-term investment, the investment judgment "Overweight" is continued. The stock price benchmark is being reduced from 34000 yen to 32200 yen.
By doing things like changing money order premises, forecasts from FY March 2017 to FY March 2020 are being revised downwards. The driving force for economic growth has been switched from previous new businesses like "Health service, Theme park & Mobile games" to the next generation game console NX and next generation portable game console MH (Tentative title). There is no change in mid-term growth scenario.
Things being predicted from now on are new factors to profit impact when NX and MH are to be fully announced, and monetization of mobile games. If the skepticism on these can be wiped away, there is a high chance that their stocks will be greatly revalued, and as a premise for long-term investment, now is perhaps the [best] entry timing [to invest here].

MH is a really strange acronym. It doesn't roll off the tongue, even with a Japanese pronunciation. If anything, it's probably just an internal codename.

Mobile Handheld

Kind of a redundant codename...

What else fits?
Mobile Hydrid... But... Sounds weird

What the fuck does MH mean!

Maturity, bitches.
So an article written about the idea that Nintendo could be making a new handheld and it could have a codename? Cool journalism bro. What an out there concept!

They did say no NX at E3 specifically. If NX is their console and MH is their handheld, it's possible to showcase that. Doubtful though.

It's not journalism, it's analysis for investors and a recommendation to buy. Even cooler.

In March 2017, you'll be able to play games like never before on our new system called Nintendo MH, which is short for Mobile Handheld(TM). With Nintendo Mobile Handheld, you can play games on the go and never have to worry about bringing a TV or console with you. Experience Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and many more beloved Nintendo franchises on this new and ground-breaking system - all in your own hands.

Nintendo Mobile Handheld. There's no play like it.

Except it works better with Nintendo Mobile Home. There's no play like it.

But there's no MH, check the thread.

Sounds like the article just came up with a hypothetical codename based on absolutely nothing.

Really, how would a yahoo article get this information without actually indicating that it has a source close to Nintendo?

It's Merely Hypothetical.

It's Merely Hypothetical.

Maybe, but there is also a 50 page thread on a Twitter rumor from Emily Rogers.
