Well, you can find $50 ones if you want to look for them.

True, but with a DSL that I'm happy with I'm not really motivated to spend alot of energy looking for micro deals. If I were to stumble upon one though I'd grab it up probably - just for the "gadget" factor if nothing else.

Well it was pretty hard to play every good GBA game that existed, especially since there were so many of them. So if you get one go back in play all the great titles you missed. The platform is dying, but its not dead yet.

Besides, FFVI Advance + Black on Black GBM = Pure Sex

Managed to get a Micro today at Walmart. I was pleasantly surprised by the screen's legibility and brightness, however when I plug in headphones I get this faint screeching sound that never goes away. It's not loud, but definitely audible, and sounds kind of like interference you get on the radio. Is this typical of the GBA line and the Micro? Or might I have a bad unit? Thanks for any quick feedback anyone can give me.

I attempted to use one at work the day it came out, and again last week. Cramped hands, a dismally small display -- extreme portability (which is nice) comes at a price. I don't even think I have abnormally large hands or anything, it's just too damned small to be comfortable.

DS Lite for life.

Got a new camera and thought I'd share a new pic of my micro with it's second run of Tengoku. Can never have enough, right?

I don't know if all Micros have this problem (they should), but my Micro has the problem you are describing. And it sucks.

I have about the crappiest camera in all existance, and on top of that I'm a complete noob on taking pictures.

Here is mine with flash turned on. (does anyone know a good way to pick up the little lint fuzzies of electronics? They are all over and no matter how many times i wipe this thing down they always are there).

No Flash

GBM-Dark.jpg

Angle shot, but i cant seem to get a good screen grab this way :(

GBM-Shiny.jpg

The screen is beautiful, if i hover directly over my GBM and take a very steady shot, im able to crop the pics and produce some impressive screen grabs.

Can somebody teach me some camera tricks? I want to take some great shots of my GBM but I cant seem to get the clarity or epicness of any of the shots in this thread.

I'm planning to buy a play-yan
I'm worried about the language, but I hope I'll be fine using a gamefaqs guide for the first explanations.
I heard that you can upload on the play yan some minigames downloaded from nintendo of japan site.
Is this the page? http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n08/playan/garage/index.html
I tried to dl one of them, it looks like a .asf video. :S
Where to get the software to convert video files?

Tripod, macro, no flash and a properly lited room. I take close up pictures of my portable stuff during the day time by the window when it is bright, although I make sure there isn't any glare from the sun first.

Strap on your hooker ...
Last weekend I was at Toys R Us, and they were clearancing out the GBm accessories... I got a really sleek leather pouch for $0.70, goes awesome with my black Micro.

Worth looking if you've got a TRU around you.

I might try and find one, my only problem is that all the close Toys R Us stores near me were shut down.

this might be a dumb question (i know nothing of cameras) but macro? I dont know what that is.

look at it this way, once you buy it, you dont need to buy it again, so your better off just buying it now, because later on, you might want to buy someone stupid and waste the $50 ment for the micro.

Damn, this thread makes me crave for a micro. D:
You're damn right it does! I've gotten fed up with playing my gba games on my DS and feeling like there's way too much awkward/unused space on the handheld and it just gets on my nerves. That and it feels like although the DS Lite and PSP are portable, they're good for long trips and things like that, while the GBM seems perfect to just carry with me where ever I am. And with that, I shall begin my search for a cheap GBM tomorrow.

Hay guys. the micro is so awesome. I've already used it like 300 hours. The result was, the shoulder buttons were damaged and didn't work anymore.

BUT

I let my micro accidentyl fall today AND they work fine again :D

I have to say this topic got me hyped for the Micro. Looked around here in the Netherlands but in my opinion it's still too expensive (from 80 to 100 euros in most places)... I want to wait a little bit longer before this beautiful piece of hardware is mine.
49 euro's at some dutch retailers, but I'm happy with my lite
damn this thread :(

I've had my micro since last November when Wal-Mart was doing their Black Friday deal, so I got my Anniversary Micro for $40. I totally love my Micro and it's great seeing the looks on people's faces when I take it out for a quick play-through. Currently, I've been playing through Dotstream, FFVI, Link to to the Past, & Minnish Cap. I have a ton of GBA games that just look absolutely spectacular on the little machine.

I'm thinking of importing more Bit Generation games, but I'm not too sure what to get next. Any idea?

I love these GBM appreciation threads coz GBM seriously is the shizzle of the handheld world. Here's mine:

gbarev0il.jpg

I've always said, the best handheld in the world is the one you have when you need to play games and a GBM + a flash cart is THE ultimate in portable gaming for me. I'll even slip it into my pocket for a level or two of Astroboy if Im just ducking out to grab a coffee. Just look at the size comparison:

gba9gi.jpg

I also have a DS and PSP, they're nice for planes and long trips etc but if I'm just tripping around the city it's GBM all the way baby. The screen is just awesome, GBA games looks far better on my GBM than they do on my DSL.

Honestly, my GBM plus any of these is just my portable gaming nirvana.

ez-flash II (powerstar of course) is a very reliable gba homebrew cartridge. It handles everything I dump into it with ease. The only downside is ez-flash (used to be)'s price - sometimes a little steep. Of course that depends on the memory it has (512mb, 1gig, ...). ez-flash III was not a great success and missed some of the older features. IV is a first generation ds card (via the gba port) which still handles .gba files, but it sticks out of your ds. You can use it as a sole gba cartridge if you wanted to tho.

The loader is basic by the way, don't expect some awesome customizable menu.
It works, that's all I need :)

Aghh! You guys have persuaded me! I need a Micro now! I had absolutely no remote interest in getting one coming into this thread, but consider me converted! This thread needs more pics to tide me over until I can get one!

i believe m3 perfect carts are supposed to be the most compatible, of the kind that take in another card at least, rather than having all the flash memory built in. older ones used compact flash cards, then they moved to sd, and down to mini and micro sd for size reasons.

theyre costly, around $70 iirc, but they make up for it by letting you use cheap storage. theyre more expensive because they have 32MB fast memory on board, which is why they have high compatibility with gba stuff. the cheaper sd based carts load straight from the sd which can cause some issues due to less speed (there are patches for games that can alleviate this though).

damn, finding one for $50 is harder than I expected
which is why i ended up going the ebay route weeks (months?) ago for my silver micro, just gave up on trying to find them in stores. also i wanted the 2 extra face plates which werent in newer packages...not that ive used them at all.

How exactly do you guys manage to take those great photo's?
I did the macro thing and fiddled with closure times and all, but It's not really working.

I already have an original GBA, the Game Boy Player, a 1st generation GBA SP, a DS and a DS Lite.

Now this thread makes me want a GBM. This is ridiculous.

Damn you all. DAMN YOU.

buy it.

as someone who has all and more of the things you mentioned, buying the Micro made me go back and play all my old GBA games and even got me to go and buy new ones.

Funny, I caved in and ordered one ($60 inc shipping from an Amazon seller) a few minutes before checking this thread again. I have a few unfinished GBA games, plus I want to get a few new ones to add to my collection - like Super Robot Taisen 2 Original Generation, Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Summon Night: Swordcraft Story.

My DS and PSP aren't nearly portable enough at times, and since seeing GBA games on my Lite, I couldn't go back to my non-backlit GBA SP. The unused screen space on the DS also bugs me. I hope this is a good investment. Will post GBM porn, I mean pics in this thread when I get mine.
